Haunt Your Friends in Don’t Starve’s Multiplayer

With the coming multiplayer update to Don’t Starve, “Don't Starve Together,” developer Klei Entertainment is working on a method for players who have died to resurrect themselves, as well as freak out their friends.

Cool beans, it'd also be cool if I were to use the Vita and can just view my character while she uses the TV and just view her (when characters go off-screen). 1 thing future games should incorporate because playing Knack with Vita was a Camera headache. Haha

It is in fact same-screen multiplayer, for up to 4 players.

It's a great style. Just enough creepy, just enough cute. Once you start to go crazy though, there's less cute.

I don't really see the "cute" part or the "creepy" part. It has a good artistic vibe from it. For some reason I see a mix between Edgar Alan Poe and Tim Burton in that. Don't ask me to explain that lol.

That would be amazing. If nothing else, I'd like to see it on a stand alone, but some kind of bundle deal would be great. I actually prefer playing it on my PS4 even though I have the PC version as well.

I actually feel like it'll drop on the PS4 the same time as Reign of Giants, but I don't think that people will have to pay for the multiplayer portion. Just like, an update that installs the files for Reign of Giants and multiplayer simultaneously. The multiplayer will be unlocked without the purchase of Reign of Giants, but RoG won't be unlocked until purchased... if that makes sense. I just think that it'd be silly for them to charge for a multiplayer that will most likely require PS+ to play, anyway.

I don't know if it's "silly" to charge for the multiplayer expansion, but you may be right. If the multiplayer expansion is directed at local play, it's not silly at all. Sure, you'd have to have PS+ to get online, but you don't have to have PS+ to play locally, and that's how I imagine I'd be playing most of my multiplayer in Don't Starve Together.

Reign of Giants launches on PS4 next week, so no, they won't be launching at the same time.

They've already stated that the multiplayer component will be included as a free update. The unfortunate part is that we won't be seeing a full release anytime soon. They are doing an Alpha version later this Summer. I think they said at the end of August or a little later. After that, it'll go through Beta and then it will eventually see a full release. I should add that these plans are only for the PC version of the game. While I definitely see this coming to the PS4 version at some point, it'll be a while. They won't actually be working on a PS4 version until after the PC version. Just to give you a general idea of how long that could take, just look at the difference between the Reign of Giants DLC. That DLC was officially released on PC at the very end of April earlier this year. It's just now being released next week for the PS4.
