Quality over Quantity that's what I say.

UltimateMaster3568d ago

What do you mean?
This game got delayed and a lot of Wii U owners are upset.
This is their update in their comments.

mhunterjr3567d ago

Perhaps he means the delay will allow for a more quality port, Omar the expense of the number of available ports in launch day.

UltimateMaster3567d ago

@mhunterjr

it doesn't matter, a lot of people on the Wii U funded the project in the first place and now it gets delayed.
If anything, Wii U owners should have been first to get it, and have the rest delayed.

rdgneoz33567d ago

"If anything, Wii U owners should have been first to get it, and have the rest delayed."

The game was originally for the PC and Wii U before it was decided to come to the PS4/xbone. And seeing as many devs have said games can ported from the PC to the PS4 in a few days, don't blame hardware that's easy to develop for.

2cents3567d ago

@ultimatemaster

to bite the hand that feeds you, comes to mind when I think of what is going on with this.

I agree that the Wii platform should have been given priority, its a sad situation for sure.

Chrischi19883567d ago

This is bullshit. The article itself says, that it got announced for Wii U 3 years ago... They really had enough time for that version. Could they give a more standart comment to quite down some people? This is still unfair. The game has no chance of becoming a success this way. Way to go Slightly Mad Studios. And that there are people trying to say we should be happy, nobody got screwed over, because it is still coming... really? Wii U owners were the original funders, with PC gamers... It should be logic and fair, that we get the game first or at least at the same time... It is stuff like this that enrages most Wii U fans "because it is just the Wii U version for stupid Wii U owners, who cares, they should be happy to get anything."

And dumb fanboys do actually support this kind of behaviour in the industry, without noticing, that stuff like this hurts the industry as a whole.

N4g_null3567d ago

The truth may be closer to the rewrite of the shader code and making apps that excuse across all of the cores on the wiiu.

Like I said this will be a milestone game. It will mean unity3d final has a real direct x 11 like features set on the wiiu now.

This will signal a jump in graphics on the wiiu and possibly fully realize realistic graphics on the wiiu.

Right now gpgpu program design is not easy. Basically they bite off more than they could chew. I'll still be waiting on it and the wiiu api update to enable these effects in unity3d way easier.

It really would not make sense to show a show peace game unfinished if you just made a break thur on how to do things using different coding models.

So if they show it and it is horrible then we just don't buy it yet if we are looking at tools that allow true direct x 11 like features then suddenly the excuses end about power.

ShinMaster3567d ago

""Wii U owners are upset""
Suck it up!

""Wii U owners should have been first to get it, and have the rest delayed.""
Now you're sounding entitled.

Do you honestly think they're delaying the Wii U version on purpose just to upset Wii U owners? There's no conspiracy here.

You'll be more upset if the game is released right away just to please you and it's half-assed and poorly optimized on Wii U.

Chrischi19883567d ago

You really dont get it, everyone wouldnt like that to happen to a game on their plattform. They had enough time, they had enough reasons. But be a fanboy.

randomass1713567d ago

@ShinMaster With a year long headstart in development, it's pretty easy to see why Wii U owners are upset. It's not petty entitlement when Wii U owners were a part of the game's funding campaign. From my perspective Wii U owners have every right to be upset.

ShinMaster3567d ago (Edited 3567d ago )

@ randomass171

But to say that all other versions should be delayed instead? Sorry, but 'UltimateMaster' sounded pretty whiny to me.

["We’re committed to delivering an exceptional and unique experience for racing fans on Wii U and for this we kindly ask our devoted and passionate Nintendo fans for a little more time"]

Like I said, you'd be more upset if they released the game half-assed and poorly optimized. They're aiming to make the Wii U version more "unique". Chill.

lilbroRx3567d ago (Edited 3567d ago )

@Shinaster, the game is already half-assed. That is the only possible explaination for why it is not done.

They aren't aiming for "anything" on the Wii U version. You can choose to pretend the preceding facts don't exist, but they had more time to work on this game for the Wii U before the PS4/XBONE versions were started than they've been working on the PS4/XBONE.

The only explanation for why the version that has been in production the longest is the last come out is that it was never a priority for them.

Also, as I've said before, if they truly believed that delayed release dates didn't hurt sales then they would be releasing the PS4/XBONE version at the exact same time. The moment a game releases on any platform, it begins to lose it value. Anyone who wanted this game would have already gotten it by the time the Wii U version finished.

You all need to stop being such a bunch of entiteled drama queens...
Sure it sucks that its going to be late to the party but its still coming. None of you seem to be able to grasp the concept that the X86 version has been in development since day 1 so it makes sense that the 3 platforms that use X86 architecture will launch first. It's easy to port from PC to PS4 and Xone because they are just esentially streamlined midrange PCs.
The Wii U is a completely different animal it is a efficient gaming console that uses more focused PPC hardware. It takes more effort more code and more organized code to get the most out of its more limited but much more efficient hardware. (This is why the Wii U has more power than its percieved specs unlike the competition)
Be happy its coming to the Wii U and that Slighty Mad studios is actually putting in the effort so we can all see what the Wii U is capable of. This turn of events is completely understandable if you have a simple understanding of the hardware...

Ju3567d ago

No...please...it's sure not more efficient. It's just slower. It just takes more time to tune and optimize and scale for that slowest machine.

herbs3567d ago

Ju thanks for your 2 cents...
Yes PPC is a more efficient and focused than X86 from a hardware standpoint you can get more with less that's a fact, this is the reason NASA uses PPC components for satellites, rockets etc its more dedicated. I guess when you hear things like that it makes you want to plug your ears and go la la la because fanboyism...
Problem with PPC architecture is that its now the odd one out and its harder to develop for it is less efficient in terms of development. Perfect example Project Cars being delayed.
I'm going to assume this is all above and beyond your capability of understanding Ju and probably the majority who read it.

DC7773567d ago

Jesus fkn Christ kids, get a clue. This happens for the umpteenth time and you think it's a coincidence? Lol.

These weak devs saw the ridiculous money potential for MS and Sony and dropped the Wii U like a zitty, fat, last choice prom date. The one that paid for your limo (you know, the one that they took that hottie to in to the prom in instead of your fat ass. The end.

jhoward5853568d ago (Edited 3568d ago )

I don't blame Wii U owners for being upset. By the time Project Cars is released on wii u Project Cars would probably lose its value. Most Wii U owners would have already seen the game play on other console.

The delay is too long.

Activemessiah3567d ago

So why not delay the other releases so they all come out at the same time? that's what happened with Rayman Legends and Deus Ex...

pcz3567d ago

because the developers have bills to pay? families to feed? you know, lives to live that require money.

Activemessiah3567d ago

So did the makers of Rayman and Deus Ex... Are we gonna ignore the blatant ostracism here because this really is a problem... one that affects nearly 7 Million people.

pcz3567d ago

rayman and deus ex werent crowd funded. they were made by massive studios with money made from other massive projects. if their games failed they could still make more games.

correct me if im wrong but project cars was made with charity money. if the game fails thats the end for that studio.

Activemessiah3567d ago

(last bubble) you know very well that this whole thing stinks like a week old fish. If it's true that they do need the money, they would have madethe extra efford to sure the game was released on the platform in most demand, in this case being the wii u according to their own poll on their site.

uth113567d ago

I don't understand this "we want to give Wii U owners a better experience". Similar excuse to why Watch Dogs was delayed.

The cynical side of me wonders if they are using this as an excuse now, and they'll quietky cancel the games later when it's not on everybody's radar

Sgt_Slaughter3567d ago

If they ever think about cancelling the game for Wii U, they will seriously regret it. Both Slightly Mad and Namco Bandai.

pcz3567d ago

when the game was announced the wiiu was still a new console, after the wii, people were expecting wiiu to be a success. as we all know now, that hasnt been the case. obviously this impacts on how the devs view their projects...

they were hardly going to say ''the wiiu version is the most inferior and the wiiu is also a failure, therefore not a priority for us''

muffinbutton3567d ago

when nintendo fans want a 3rd party game more than any other platform this is how they're treated. its either shitty ports, content missing or delays.

LOL_WUT3567d ago

Ask yourself this would it had sold better than the PS4 or X1 versions? The PS4 and the X1 are easier to port thanks to their architecture which is why they focused on those versions. ;)

Ck1x3567d ago

The sad thing is you don't know how it's going to sell on the other systems though... But that's a discussion that people should revisit after the game is released

herbs3567d ago

I rarely agree with Lolwut but he is right this time.
There are essentially only 2 versions of this game the X86 version (PC-PS4-Xone) and the PPC version (Wii U)
Devs need to make certain deadlines and need to make $$$ so they can continue doing what the do, making games. I really shouldn't have to explain further but I will because emotional people can't think strait.
The user base for the X86 version is many many times greater than the user base for the Power PC version by like 100X
In the end Slightly Mad studios is a business and they need to make smart business decisions so they can keep rolling along and be successful.
I know the gaming community is made up of the most immature and spoiled idiots on the planet but if you can't understand what I have stated above you are a hopeless individual. There are realities in this world that don't always suit your entitled needs...

randomass1713567d ago

That's a pretty big claim. I can see this game succeeding on PC, but not especially on XB1 and PS4 when both Sony and Microsoft have their own racing sims with big fanbases. Wii U had no such competition, unless you want to count Mario Kart as a racing sim. With this move, Slightly Mad may very well have killed the Wii U version's shot at success and it may or may not have been their biggest seller among consoles. If you want to laugh at that statement, just look at the sales figures for Rayman Legends. Even as a bomb, it still sold most on Wii U.

Ju3567d ago (Edited 3567d ago )

So far every 3rd party game was a (financial) disaster (for the developer) on the WiiU. The risk of putting all eggs into the WiiU's basket is simply too big. All they can hope for is to make enough money with PS4 (X1) to shift this to make the WiiU version happen. I doubt they'd break even on the WiiU alone. Couple of great games have already released and the vocal n4g community praised them like no tomorrow, yet those never where generating any profits (for 3rd parties). I think it's perfectly reasonable they put the money where their mouth is.

Why did EA Kill Project CARS?

This video explains why we think Electronic Arts didn't see a future in the sim racing title Project CARS and promptly cancelled the fourth instalment.

Jin_Sakai525d ago

After the last installment I’d say most hardcore fans left. It’s just not that good anymore so I can’t really blame EA this time.

masterfox524d ago

because it was always a project and it never got finished :D

ChubbyBlade523d ago

Every game is a project. Your joke doesn’t make sense

InUrFoxHole522d ago

It makes perfect sense. It's obviously a play on the title. Jesus christ you must be a blast at parties.

ApocalypseShadow524d ago (Edited 524d ago )

Ask Bullfrog or Black Box or Tiburon or Studio 33 or Criterion or any of the previously acquired developers who made racing games as competition, or as developers of EA games, then eventually dissolved into oblivion or reassigned. Just ask them. They'll tell you why.

ApocalypseShadow523d ago

Oh. I forgot. Even Code Masters were absorbed into Criterion. Another racing developer EA took over.

Every racing developer either absorbed by EA or eventually destroyed by them. They either kill competition or have them in the end make Need 4 Speed for them.

MadLad523d ago

EA only cancels projects for one reason.
They didn't see enough money in it.

Kombatologist523d ago (Edited 523d ago )

Not when it's because it didn't meet some crazy margin. It's like if something doesn't make EA a billion dollars on day one (I'm exaggerating that figure of course), they swiftly put it out to pasture.

SurgicalMenace523d ago (Edited 523d ago )

Much like if you're spending money on what's a bad investment for your desired goals, you'd do away with it, if you're wise. We should try to get away from thinking we know more about business than individuals that have been doing it for decades. Perhaps you could benefit from going into business instead of wasting all of your talents in comment sections. It's clear that you're the missing piece that EA's been looking for.

MadLad522d ago

I've made a good amount of money betting on underdog investments over the years.

EA sets unrealistic expectations of their more niche developers, yet continue to fund absolute blunders like DICE and the Battlefield series year after year.

dumahim523d ago

EA butted in and messed with the formula and act shocked when it doesn't work out.

Original Project CARS creator trying to re-hire EA team

Ian Bell, the founder of Slightly Mad Studios, is aiming to hire former Project CARS employees to work on his upcoming GTR Revival project.

Sgt_Slaughter526d ago

If it's just going to be another sim-cade that doesn't do either one correctly then no thanks.

Project CARS 2 was a step in the right direction but the physics still aren't where they should have been, so what did they do for PC3? Go completely arcade. That killed the franchise.

EA dropping Project CARS

From GI.biz: "EA is dropping Project CARS, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal.

The Slightly Mad Studios-developed series was launched in 2015, with EA confirming today that it has made the decision to "stop further development and investment" in the franchise.

The announcement was made internally and it's unclear at this stage to which extent staff could be affected. EA said that employees working on Project CARS will be moved into "suitable" roles "wherever [they] can.""

Terry_B528d ago

Typical for EA. They buy studios that created nice games..and are sooner or later destroying them and move the people to work on the old same 5+ EA series.

italiangamer528d ago

They will put the developers on the 1000th Need for Speed for the rest of their entire careers, just like Criterion.

SurgicalMenace528d ago

To be fair, it's not EAs fault it falls directly on the consumer. Everytime these companies choose to drop a series they're met with backlash though the gamers didn't support said series enough to justify its continuation. Attempting to paint every company as evil all because they're in it to succeed is ridiculous. They have to make money just like each of us typing in this section. If a job wasn't supporting you well you'd quit and find a new one, this is the same mentality concerning series.

TheColbertinator528d ago

@SurgicalMenace

No it is their fault. They don't listen to fans and burn the franchise to the ground by introducing elements that nobody wanted instead of increasing support for said respected franchises.

I order a steak, they make a steak. 1st sale
I order a steak again, they vomit on my steak and charge me more for it. No sale.

EA in a nutshell.

Tapani527d ago

@TheColbinator Well how do you think they make the billions then?

Their fans ARE buying their games. You are just not their focus group, and I can guarantee their customer insights team is more thorough and detailed in their reaearch than any N4G commentors’ opinion on the matter. Otherwise EA would not exist as a company, and they’d be bankrupt.

deleted528d ago

The one that still hurts the most though was Criterion w the Burnout series. Acquired Criterion's tech for their own existing IP, then shut em down. It's basically parasitic. I sure do miss Burnout's crash mode!

Hofstaderman528d ago

Sounds eerily similar to another large unnamed corporation hey. I believe some EA bigwigs shifted to that company back in the day, would explain the similarities.

rlow1527d ago

Must be talking about Sony

peppeaccardo528d ago

and instead they come out with that piece of shit of Need for Speed which looks like an Anna & Barbera cartoon. C'mon .... PC2 was my go to game for VR racing and the first one i played for tens of hours. i was so lookiing forward to PC4 after that failure of PC3 ... what a shame EA, they are bombing all the good games and stick to the garbage ones. EA when you think you have reached maximum of disappointment they top it off with style .... screw them!

SurgicalMenace528d ago

Need for Speed continues to sell so why would they get rid of what's producing what they need to maintain stability?

EazyC528d ago

What they did to this series was idiotic. The premise was great -- a sim/simcade game that GENUINELY got developed in line with its community. There is a huge gap in the market for this...I mean, PD hasn't listened to fans at all over the last year with regard to simple Gran Turismo 7 tweaks. Sim racing fans are screaming for a title where they actually give a shit about their users.

Project Cars 2 was genuinely on to something, it just needed some refinement. But instead they followed up by selling off to EA with a braindead GRID clone with Project Cars 3. Again...idiotic.

SurgicalMenace528d ago

Well since you're the authority on properly managing a million dollar company, why don't you just call them to let them know of your divine wisdom?

Hardcore sim racers are the ones who are competing acrossed the globe, no company in their right mind would focus on a forever moving casual market. They have to focus on those dedicated to supporting their efforts. Notice how you're speaking from a perspective of self opposed to the collective. Perhaps they sold out because they, like us, needed the money knowing that they could reinvest it into something new. PC was a decent racer but very few people mainlined it over GT or Forza.

EazyC528d ago

I'm not a divine authority but I notice a pattern where these huge corporations turn completely tone deaf of what the "average fan" wants.

vallencer527d ago

Hate to break it to you but project cars 3 was published by Bandai in 2020. EA didn't buy codemasters, which owned slightly mad studios, until 2021. Either way the sales were super poor for the game and it's not surprising EA would just drop the game. BUT it still sucks because it's one less sim racing game on the market. Especially because the first 2 were really good.

Tzuno528d ago

and focuses more on cartoon network games
