Xbox One sales pick up after Kinect-free option launch

Xbox One sales have apparently picked up following the launch of the Kinect-free version in June.

All things considered:

PS4...72 Countries
X1...13 Countries

PS4 $399
X1...$499

X1 sales are very good.

A 25% more expensive console selling in less than 1/5th the Countries, very impressive

@ URNighgtmare,

First, the 360 took Xbox from 1/6th of PS sales to even or better, the X1 is selling better than 360, so MS is VERY impressed.

Where is your sales info for after the price cut? Vg says X1 is 5000 ahead in the US in the first week.

Sony can't afford a price cut, they're predicting a 1.4 BILLION loss this year

What heavy hitters? Most are delayed, you mean TMCC, yes, that a heavy hitter.

You mean Project Gimmick, like 3D tv, almost forgot all about 3D.

TV tv tv tv lol

Make no mistake, US has been SONY territory, they owned it for the life of the PS1, the owned it for the PS2 (3 to 1), it was Sony's to loose, and they did. MS sold less than 60m Xboxes in US, Sony well over 100m. And yet a 25% more expensive product is within 15% of sales.

@ Big-finger, more like 70 -75%

URNightmare3575d ago (Edited 3575d ago )

Well, if we go by Microsoft's actions regarding Xbox One, it seems like they are not impressed with their own product at all.

The Xbox One being outsold in the U.S every month since lunch and even after the price cut and by a console with supposedly "no games" is worrying, even more when 50% of PS4 owners were not PS3 owners.

-What's going to happen when the PS4 gets a price cut?
-What's going to happen when the heavy hitters start releasing?
-What's going to happen once Project Morpheus releases?
-What's going to happen once PS Now releases?
-What's going to happen once Playstation movies start showing up in theaters?

It's going to be PLAYSTATION where you go, wherever you are and if it is already the most popular next gen console, just imagine a year from now when all the things I mentioned kick in.
If the Xbox One is being outsold now on "Xbox territory". What makes anyone think it will do better later or in the new countries it will release?

This is something to think about. Very interesting things ahead.

So no, obviously those numbers are not impressive and Microsoft knows this.

The_Hero3575d ago (Edited 3575d ago )

Retailers shows best selling system as the PS4.
That's with the 400$ matching price.
Second place goes to either the Xbox One or the Wii U depending if Nintendo released a game or not.

NatureOfLogic_3575d ago

Here we go again. Kinectless Xbox One is sitting at 51 on Amazon atm. That's behind PS4 at 11 and white destiny PS4 at 33. Kinectless Xbox One, which is the only Xbox One in the top 100 can't break into the top 50 and at time falls behind WiiU. It's not selling well. NPD will be embarrassing for MS.

tbone5673575d ago

Xbox can afford to do pricecuts. Sony can't. They lost 1.2 billion last quarter. 6 billion on PS3 which they have yet recovered a single dime from. Sony just reported a 78 million dollar loss on PS the last quarter. Sony isn't in a healthy situation right now. That's a fact.

xHeavYx3575d ago

The PS4 is already outselling the One in countries where both launches, and all the countries where the One hasn't launched there is already a next gen console, the PS4.
You have to give props to MS fans though, they never lose hope

DoubleM703574d ago

Do you really think the PS4 will have a price cut with the PS3 still selling for $200 dollars. What happen anytime soon maybe when the PS3 fall to $100 bucks.

dantesparda3574d ago Show
jXales3574d ago

@tbone567

The playstation 3 hasn't lost sony 6 billions, are you completely off your marbles?

The Ps3
1. Won Sony the Blu-ray vs HD DVD war which royalties alone most likely was worth the hit.
2. started becoming profitable after 4 years of loss we are in year 8 now i believe? they mustve recouped a buck or 2 there.

The playstation is a revenue making part of Sony. Playstation is profitable, Its sonys TVs that are losing billions.

Xbox is losing microsoft a ton of money the Playstation brand is doubtably losing sony money.

Pogmathoin3574d ago

-What's going to happen when the PS4 gets a price cut? I'm going to buy a 2nd and third to shaft MS! Yay!

FanboyKilla3574d ago

Lmfao why does every pro sony comment get more agrees than disagrees? And everyone who likes or mentions xbox in a positive light have one bubble? obviously for some odd reason, n4g is like a sony cult. Wtf they bash xone all day in articles , and start every playstation article with the word amaaazing. Lol stevie wonder can see the majority on n4g is sony. Thats probably why n4g feeds that crap through their site. Hell i would too, i aint mad at ya, do ya thang bra. Lol hey, do yall meet here cause the banners blue?

slasaru013574d ago

>>>What's going to happen when the PS4 gets a price cut?
Sonyboys will then say that a price cut in a year is now OK and argue that their price cut is better?

kreate3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

@fanboy

The thing is, as mentioned before. This whole pro sony mentality isnt exclusive to n4g.

Its pretty much every where u go. On any website. The whole internet.

Even the fanboy michael pachter ended up buying sony stocks becuz he believes ps4 will increase sony's stocks.

X1 is not selling better than the 360, it had a better launch, but since the beginning of the year it's lagged behind.

FriedGoat3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

This is true, I love the claim That the Xbone is outselling the 360, IT ISNT.
For the xbox one, in April it actually sold less consoles than the 360 ever has in April. It actually was the worst performance for an Xbox console since the original xbox was on the market.

its_JEFF3574d ago

@Kneon I'm not sure what the dislikes are for... I've also heard this about the sales figures. It's seems easy enough to figure out as the all the sales numbers are online.

kneon3574d ago

The disagrees are from those delusional people desperately hoping that this is not true.

The fact is the the launch numbers for any console are largely meaningless as there are almost always good initial sales numbers. It's what happens after the launch hype has died down that matters.

kaileb3575d ago

Is the PS4 being outsold in that 13 countries?? If they have the same amount of country would it outsold the ps4??

Death3574d ago

I don't think anyone is claiming the XboxOne will outsell the PS4 when it is available in all the same regions. What you are seeing is people claiming being available in more countries won't increase sales. Xbox One is currently selling zero consoles in countries where it isn't available. Once it is released in those countries, sales are expected to increase. To what degree is yet to be seen. What we do know is it will be more than what we have seen up to now which is nothing.

Bathyj3575d ago (Edited 3575d ago )

Xbone 1st tier launch=losing in 13 countries
Xbone 2nd tier launch=losing in 72 countries.

And by the way, whose fault is that MS werent ready to release everywhere anyway? You keep holding it against Sony, but I'm pretty sure they dont set Xbones release schedule.

Personally I cant wait for this to happen just so that straw you keep grasping for finally comes crashing to the ground.

EDIT
Demand is not that high. Massive would be a stretch. They could have spread some of the stock around that was sitting on shelves in every country it did release in. Clearly with all the 180's they had to make, and all the buttons they evidently had to push, they were not ready to launch on the same scale Sony did.

But you what, thats fine, its their release schedule, they dont have to react or counter everything Sony is doing. They SHOULD walk to the beat of their own drum.

Just dont launch in only 13 countries and then whine about it for the next year like its the sole reason theyre losing. Theyre losing for soooo many other reasons.

Its time to drop the number of countries thing. It would be like Australia complaining to the world that we cant win the World Cup because we only have 20m people.

n4rc3575d ago

So its better to have massive supply shortages?

MysticStrummer3575d ago

@n4rc - It's better to have massive supply shortages caused by demand than to have Day One Editions to unload more than 6 months later.

n4rc3575d ago (Edited 3575d ago )

Day ones were supposed to be day one sales..

When I got mine at midnight.. If you didn't preorder, you got a green box.. Black day ones were only given to preorders..

Well.. If you have extra after the promotion, your going to sell them right?

Point being.. You imply they are still trying to sell their day one editions when they have been selling standard editions since launch.

Edit.. And dude.. I'm not talking Xbox demand... I was referring to your comment about not being ready to launch in every country.. Sony wasn't either, its why they were so hard to find for months on end because stores were only getting new stock every 6-8 weeks and wasn't enough to fulfill the waiting lists.

jahcure3575d ago

@n4rc I know you don't have bubbles left, but just for your information (since you seem genuinely misinformed)

you can still buy day one editions at some walmarts and even amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/gp/pr...

these aren't sold by resellers..they are shipped and sold by amazon. Black boxed xbox ones.

Aussiebeachbabe3575d ago

The country thing is old news and bs. The x1 is still LOSING in ALL 13 countries. 1/3 of ps4 and 1/2 of x1 sales are in north america alone. All those extra countries YOU keep bringing up might equal 1% of the total sales of any console which makes them insignificant. Don't you understand that if the x1 can't pull ahead in any of its strongest markets that the microscopic sales of all these small markets that make up almost nothing in the total world wide sales will not make a noticable differance?

Chevalier3575d ago

@Axios2

Again which country is Xbone beating PS4? Exactly ZERO.

2/3 of 360 sales were between 2 countries (U.K/U.S) so your an idiot if you believe more countries is the issue. The rest of the world accounted for 1/3 of their sales and you think number of countries is going to change that?!

http://arstechnica.com/gami...

Sorry it's not going to change a thing.

Death3574d ago

By your numbers, wouldn't Xbox not being available in the rest of the world take away 33% of their sales? You are essentially saying Xbox would be at 7.5 million world wide if they were available.

By Xbox One being available in 30 less countries, those countries are buying zero Xbox's. Only Sony fanboys are saying Xbox fans think sales would be tied if they were available in the same amount of countries. The reality is Microsoft will sell more consoles if they are available in more regions. How many won't be known until they launch. What we do know is Sony's sales lead is partially attributed to the fact they are available in more countries world wide.

We can all agree that Microsoft will not close the gap in sold consoles worldwide when they are actually released. Microsoft will sell more consoles in those regions than they are today though. You can't dismiss that as being untrue.

BarneyS3574d ago

@death
I agree with most of your post except the first paragraph. He's talking about two markets (US/UK). MS launched in 13 markets. So they're not missing 33% but probably less than 10%. Ofcourse Xbone would have been closer with more markets. But some people want to make it seem like it would have been head to head. That's simply not true, the PS4 would stil have a big lead.

insomnium23574d ago

I can't wait to see the crying in here when xbone does launch everywhere else and after the first month (~+10% sales) the sales will flatline back to where they were. What will the next excuse be I wonder.

FriedGoat3574d ago

@death,

Even the, your basing your prediction on Shipped figures and not sold.
Microsoft seem embarrassed to release real sales figures now :(

One word: denial.

Clarence3574d ago

NA sales alone could crush a majority of those countries that the PS4 is released in. Just look at the 360 sales last gen. M$ released in the 13 countries that would net them the most sales.

The PS4 released in 2 territories and sold 1m. The xbone released in 13 territories and sold 1m

PS brand is stronger. The xbone needed to drop the price to try and gain sales, that leads me to believe that M$ is not happy with their console.

kenshiro1003574d ago

Sorry tbone but price cuts aren't working for Microsoft. And once again trolls like you drag Sony's financials into a losing argument as usual.

Axios, stop using the territories as an excuse. Even if the XB1 was available everywhere, it still wouldn't outsell the PS4.

frostypants3574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

"PS4...72 Countries
X1...13 Countries "

Argh. OK, please, listen. "Countries" is not a measure of audience. The countries that the One hasn't released in aren't places like the US or the UK. They are places with very negligible gaming markets. All of them combined may not even add up to one of the 13 countries that it has launched in already.

While the One may have launched in fewer countries, I would wager that it is still available to 90-95% of the total gaming population that the PS4 is.

wsoutlaw873574d ago

I like how you use the higher price as a reason to make its less sales impressive but then dont do the same fir the much more expensive ps3. You are obviously way to invested in this sales bs

ArchangelMike3574d ago

The article is complete speculation, with no facts or figures to back up the statement.

btk3574d ago

Again with this absolute daft 72 countries vs 13 countries?
The sales are not equal in every country... but you knew that.
MS lost every country... name one where they lead sales
Go home. You're drunk.

btk3574d ago

Funny thing of course...
When MS launch in those countries, they will be so far behind and the PS4 so established that they most likely could just not launched in those countries.

mj_msv3574d ago

The Ps4 72 countries, and X1 13 Countries is bullshit, For example X1 is still not official launched in Norway, but have been in shops for some time now (Imported versions), looks not like they have any trouble to supply either, and I suppose it's not only the case in Norway, so I do not expect to see X1 sales go rocket when they will be avail official either.

badz1493574d ago (Edited 3574d ago )

@Axios2

I wonder what will your new account name be when the xbone are already available later in those other countries and still loosing! you're up for a rude awakening but keep using that excuse for now so that it will be even funnier later LOL!

calis3574d ago

"PS4...72 Countries
X1...13 Countries

PS4 $399
X1...$499 "

This argument again.

Microsoft are selling it in their key countries. It's not as if those different countries are key sales countries like the Uk or something that are going to make a big difference.

As for price. Didn't make a different when the PS3 was released.

Sheikh Yerbouti3573d ago (Edited 3573d ago )

Well most publicly traded companies are interested in some sort of growth, not just piddling along stat quo. That means growing the business. A retracting market share from last year is never a good thing for the company.

Still, unless there is some healthy profit margin what is the use...? You are just wearing a big hole where you wallet pocket should be. I don't think either one has turned that corner yet.

For us, it doesn't mean a damn thing but good, healthy competition and a healthy industry.

June NPD should be out soon so should just wait for that.

tuglu_pati3575d ago

June NPD wont be a good indicator neither since price cut started june 9th. I think July will be a better sample.

iamnsuperman3575d ago

Well it is only 9 days off the month. Hardly anything really. July will however show if the price change has made a long term impact on sales (as June is going to show the initial impact)

TheFallenAngel3575d ago

Usually when something comes put or gets a price drop, most of the sales are reflected on the first-second week. I doubt the xbone will outsell the ps4 anytime soon. If not even a $450 titanfall bundle did it than I doubt this will.

Platinum_k3575d ago

They just took away the coolest things about Xbox and made it cheaper.

I really don't think people will choose an inferior system over a PS4 now.

Anon19743574d ago

Even thought it didn't go on sale until June 9th, there would have been a number of people who preordered the new Kinectless Xbox One so we should expect to see a greater spike in June sales than we would in July. How are you already making excuses for June NPD sales?

tuglu_pati3574d ago

@darkride66

Graey3574d ago

and I can't believe it's not butter!!

SilentNegotiator3575d ago (Edited 3575d ago )

More sales means more developer support and being left out less with exclusives/games not on all platforms.

But keep ironically preaching in sales articles about how "ridiculous" it is to take interest in sales.

Sheikh Yerbouti3573d ago

I think that has more to do with the parity in technology of consoles (i.e., Nintendo), money-hatting by MS, and 3rd collaborations by all on sharing technology, resources, etc.. Not number of consoles sold.

Really, it's not as if the XBOne is not moving any games. Plus, left to any developer they are going to want their game on as many consoles as possible, and in the end it is all code. So with a game already made, the margin to put it out for that system can be too tempting not to put it out (i.e., orig. Mass Effect of PS3). It doesn't matter that much that Sony sells more.

And we haven't had a full year in to this generation. Not even a Halo and XBox is failure?! That's what I don't get the most.

And who says "Word" anymore. Turbo and Ozone?

TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Well, this is neat. As the name suggests, Wrath of the Mutants is the rarest of things – a genuine arcade conversion. With most modern arcade games being ticket redemption machines, this is something seldom seen. In fact, the last arcade conversion we can recall was Raw Thrill’s own Cruis’n’ Blast on Switch back in 2021. This is also based on an older iteration of TMNT, harking back to the series from 2012-2017. It’s essentially breaking franchise continuity (we’ve had two different iterations of the Turtles since) and could even be considered nostalgic for a select few – those who grew up with 2012’s Turtles are probably in their late teens."
