October 2014 is going to be one of the biggest release months in video game history, with two dozen games coming out and a release list on the verge of explosion, with Project Spark and Lords of the Fallen added today.

Sony have been extremely smart to space their major releases. TLoU in July, Destiny exclusive PS4 a month later, followed by DriveClub and then LBP3. Let's see how x1 new IP sunset overdrive survive in the middle of the massive releases this fall.
Bloodborne and The Order are new IPs and coming out beginning next year in a not so crowded period in order to market them well.

Sunset Overdrive looks like it could gain a big following but it is crazy for Microsoft to release a new I.P. In such a busy month and I fear it will get drowned by all the big name sequels.

These summer months are dry because of a lack of new releases, give me a couple of news AAA games and I'd throw my money at them. Publishers really need to stop saving their games for Christmas as gamers only have a finite amount of money.

I think TF and Infamous have been the last 2 good games to come for either system so far this year. I think everyone's waited long enough, time to bring on something new to play. Not to mention in August you get Madden, Diablo, then September you get Destiny. Basically from August onwards should be a good few months of games.

I am not interested in the new wave of games they are throwing out like Evolve and Alien: Isolation. People may attack me for it because i sound closed minded but i am glad i'm not interested, just look at the amount of money i'd have to spend if i was.

When i was younger, we didn't buy every game under the sun because no one really could so we used to just play free Demo Discs that you get with the Magazines. We always had fun :)

The order and The witcher were already pushed so I don't see that happening. There's been talk that Arkham Knight and bloodborne could come out in February but since there's no release date I could see those falling back into March/April, maybe later. SW battlefront is supposed to be spring but that will almost certainly get delayed after what happened with battlefield.

Am I the only one who think it's an ADVANTAGE that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is coming out on the previous-gen systems only? It pretty much has no competition on those systems that month in its genre, it's from a proven and QUITE beloved IP, and most gamers who have made the jump to new-gen haven't gotten rid of the previous-gen systemas and still play them often. I know I'm certainly playing my PS3 more than my PS4, as much as I love my new box. I'm thinking the game might well be the surprise hit of the month.

On the fantasy games, I'm thinking Lords Of The Fallen is the one that might suffer the most. It's a new IP from a relatively little-known developer that's taking a stab at the Demon's/Dark Souls formula of gameplay. That is a TOUGH place to be. Demon's/Dark Souls fans(and I include myself as one) are pretty damn judgmental of any game that tries to follow that formula, so this game will be made or broken by word-of-mouth, and the other two games at least have the advantage of being established IPs. I'm thinking Dragon Age will be the one that comes out on top, cause Shadow Of Mordor might be awesome for all we know, but it's a licensed game, and those can get ignored for that stigma.

I think Evolve is actually gonna blow Battlefield: Hardline out of the water. The Battlefield franchise is damaged goods right now, and a game by the creators of Left 4 Dead is big news.
