Cerny's a talented guy, but he is not in the same league as many of the others mentioned in there, and there are many there who don't really deserve to be there either (Kaz Hirai?). He has a single director credit to his name, that being Knack. I can't think of anything remarkable to say about Knack. He has worked on a large number of titles over the years, but he is not cut of the same cloth as people like Miyamoto et al. He simply doesn't have the design and directorial credibility.

That's exactly right. It's easy to memorize a presentation when it's something you believe in and passionate about. When it's something you want to talk about, it's not hard to remember all the points you want to make.
