The reason for Rime: a near fatal accident

Polygon: The notion for Rime came to Raúl Rubio Munárriz while he was drowning.

Great interview. It makes the game all the more interesting. Can't wait to see more of it.

Right, I'm more then certain that the author meant to say "AS A RESULT OF" almost drowning and NOT actually "WHILE" he was drowning. If it was tho, that would b a cool last thought

maybe raul can have another near-death experience and GIVE US A RELEASE DATE!
on a serious note - if this game can be even close to what journey was, i'll be thrilled.

I don't understand where the comparison fits, but I really hope it's not attempting to live up to Journey's legacy. Journey was fine in its own right as a tasteful, bite-sized experiment of sorts that continued the tradition of TGC's catalog, but most of its mechanics don't transfer well to other games without oversimplifying everything. I'd be horribly disappointed if Rime forgoes its large explorable open-world and puzzle aspects for relatively small, enclosed setpieces and overly-simplified controls, mechanics, and so forth.

Journey worked because it was Journey-- it allowed for a unique take on multiplayer gaming with a mysterious, immersive aesthetic, but it came at a price that many other games would suffer for. Some things would obviously be universally appealing, but let Rime be Rime, and hope it offers an experience notable for what it does itself, not for being like another game.

man, if you don't see the similarities in style - ok.....that's your opinion.
we'll just have to disagree.

Rockefellow3576d ago

I suppose so. I didn't realize people were actually shallow enough to judge a games' potential quality solely based on appearance, though, so my mistake. For the record, I don't think it looks a thing like Journey-- Ico and Windwaker seem to be far more influential.

5 Bad Switch Ports That Should Not Have Happened

Greysun writes:

The Nintendo Switch gets bombarded with many, many ports. But most of them actually run pretty well, with only a couple that we would call bad Switch ports.

While I agree with the majority on this list Bloodstained is far from a bad port. Sure it doesn't run as fast as the other more powerful machines and has some sacrifices made to the graphics to keep the game running smooth. But some of the errors that are being mentioned can be patched and addressed. The game is still fun to play, it's not like it's broken or anything.

King_Noctis1756d ago

Ark should have never been released the way it is on the Switch. The game is so so bad.

It's purely down to the incompetence of the Devs. Just go and look at how more demanding games have successfully been ported to Switch and then you have proof that these are just poorly done.
