I am looking forward to this, but The Last of Us was stunning looking on the PS3. It pushed the PS3 hardware so I am not surprised to see that it looks very similar on PS4.

The great thing about TLOU on Ps4 is that it is going to look that good and run at 60fps. I am more interested in seeing how the game moves than how it looks. After all, the game looks amazing on PS3.

Terrible comparison. No one can seriously look at this and claim there's a noticeable difference. If they didn't say which one is which, I might have thought the bottom one was PS4 because the colors look more vibrant. That's about the only difference between the two pictures aside from Joel's slight haircut change.

But this is a cutscene screenshot so it's pointless to compare. The difference will be in-game, and it will mostly show in terms of FPS and resolution.

They said gameplay characters will look like cutscene . This is a cutscene , i don't know why people expected huge difference in cutscene. There are upgrades but you only look at the colors ;.

HDTV and 60FPS will show the difference even in cutscenes even if there were no differences. People just need to experience it by themselfs. Otherwise they won't notice the upgrade..

There are two types of cutscenes in this game - Pre-rendered and Real-time.

The one with Joel's face is a Real-time cutscene which is running on the PS3/PS4. If you played the game many times like I did you will know which ones are pre-rendered or real-time.

A big hint is to look under Bonus (or Extras, can't remember) in the Main Menu and go to 'Cinematic'. EVERY SINGLE pre-rendered cutscenes are listed in there. The rest of the other cutscenes in the game are real-time.

Now shut up about "Oh, these screenshots are just BS because they are pre-rendered cutscenes". Another test you can do is change Ellie and Joel's clothes from the Bonus menu. Their clothes obviously do not change in pre-rendered but do change in real-time.

Last of Us is great but its not the greatest game ever and if this game was on Xbox 360 and Xbox One it would have sold more and got more people playing the game, so by the time Last Of Us 2 comes out it would have sold 30 - 50 million copies.
Compare this games sales to any Halo game or any Gears of War game besides Judgement.
Sony games do not sell as good as they are.
Microsoft would've made Last Of Us sell way more copies by having lots of Ads and a TV series.
The developers need to leave sony and make games for all the consoles.
Sony has said that they make games at a lost in sells. Well if you do a better job marketing a game, then it will sale a lot better.

I have a R9 290 4 GB and I can barely play Watch_Dogs at ultra 1080p, what 4K are you talking about? Do you have any idea how demanding next-gen games like Witcher 3 will be on PC? As long as you don't have a GTX Titan Black SLI which would turn your PC case into a thermonuclear power plant that costs you triple the electricity bill, you can forget about 4K or play Rayman Origins at glorious 4K resolution with a moderate GPU and watch 4K bluray movies. Seriously? The PS3 Version of that screenshot looks WAY better than the PS4.

The PS4 looks washed out and grey, the PS3 has better colors, especially her eyes, face and hair. Look at Joel's shirt, Ellie's sleeve, and on the PS3 version, you can actually see ambient light refracting around in the inside of the car... The PS4 version is too washed out to see the little lighting effects that bring more LIFE to the scene.

I can't believe how stupid the Sony fans must feel for thinking the graphics would really improve. The framerate might be a nice difference, but the PS3 version, (from what I'm seeing) looks much more beautiful.
The PS4 looks slightly sharper, but the actual IMAGE looks better on PS3.

This is why Xbox fans would rather have more on screen effects to enhance or post process the image on their games than always worry about strictly resolution and framerate.

the problem is that tlou cutscenes were prerendered in engine and not running real time. therefor having amazing looking scenes. ps4 i suppose is running real time so it is showing how great it actually is looking.

however i do want to say that most people didnt care about it being prerendered or not. actually most people this gen didnt really care about prerendered cutscenes. i mean the only good thing for real time cutscenes is so that when your character is wearing alt. costume it shows that on the cutscene aswell.

anyway, once we see gameplay we can actually see the difference. hopefully they will release a 60fps video just to show us.

If you never played the game and you have a ps4 then this is a no brainer buy. I just don't see that big of a difference to say to someone spend 50 more dollars on this to play it again. These screenshots are probably why we didn't see video's leading up to the announcement. But if you haven't played the game I highly recommend playing it on PS4. It's a very very special game with great gameplay and an intense powerful story.

Fortunately, there are more PS4's out there than copies of TLOU so there are probably a couple of million off the back that this will appeal to. Then, add in the others who just really loved this game and you have another hit on your hands.

Games attach rates are not the same as installed base. There may be more PS4's than TLOU out there, but the question is how many PS4 owners didn't own a PS3/TLOU already? According to the last report by Sony, 1/3 are new to Playstation. That means there are a couple million possible new owners that may get the game. The other 5 million most likely played already and need to decide if they want to re-purchase the game.

I would think 2 million in sales is more than possible and a very good attach rate. This is compared to 6 million is sales for the original with an 80+ million install base.

This is just one screenshot from a cutscene and we already see the difference. It's much clear and more comfortable to look at just like if you play and experience battlefield 4 on ps4 then play it on high end pc. Better textures , shadows , blur, colors , bright , hair ...etc That's just from one screenshot so imagine how it will look in motion with 60FPS.

I'm buying it for the online. I love it , it's a survival MP. Advice anyone who love exciting online game to buy it.

PlayStation has been offering outrageously good value HD collections for years. They were the company who started it all. What kind of value do you expect to get from The Last of Us Remastered, when there's only been one game in the franchise and it's been out less than a year? You want them to bundle 3 other imaginary games with it?

More importantly, this has nothing to do with Microsoft or The Master Chief Collection. Sly Cooper and God of War Collections came out for the Vita a couple of months ago and the Ratchet & Clank trilogy only came out last week for the Vita, so should I not bring them up and compare them to a game that doesn't have any prequels or sequels? Lastly, you haven't seen any gameplay to compare, but it is going to be an improvement in every conceivable way, and since it's outputting at double the resolution and running at twice the frame rate, "worthwhile difference" is really dependant on whether or not you think double the performance, and key optimisations in other areas are worth the upgrade.

The lighting is a bit brighter in the PS4 version in that comparison. Otherwise, I'm not really seeing a difference. The character models in general apparently haven't seen any major improvement (ex. the polygon edges on Joel's ears). There's no major texture upgrades, either.

Yes there is very little difference in a static image, that was taken from a cutscene which iirc ps3 used higher quality resources for the cutscenes, even though they were rendered real time. That screenshot of joel looks awesome though...and what the screenshots dont show is 60fps vs 30fps...that difference alone will be simply massive, and to me worth the money, especially with a res bump to 1080p. Any texture/lighting improvements are icing on the cake.

You're basing this off a screenshot based on a cutscene that was pre-rendered and using higher-quality assets on the cutscenes on the PS3 version to begin with.

It won't look "just like the PS3 version", or there'd be no point in it. PS4 has several times the amount of RAM than PS3. As well as silky smooth 60fps, it's much, much higher quality textures (there were quite a few naff/low quality textures in the PS3 version), better lighting, better shadows, better anti-aliasing (jaggies were also a problem for the PS3 version), all kind of better particle effects.

I just recently purchased a PS4, and I didn't own a PS3 to play TLOU originally, so I'm picking this up for sure. I honestly do see some textural differences, but they are very subtle in my opinion.

There are two types of cutscenes in this game - Pre-rendered and Real-time.

The one with Joel's face is a Real-time cutscene which is running on the PS3/PS4. If you played the game many times like I did you will know which ones are pre-rendered or real-time.

A big hint is to look under Bonus (or Extras, can't remember) in the Main Menu and go to 'Cinematic'. EVERY SINGLE pre-rendered cutscenes are listed in there. The rest of the other cutscenes in the game are real-time.

Now shut up about "Oh, these screenshots are just BS because they are pre-rendered cutscenes". Another test you can do is change Ellie and Joel's clothes from the Bonus menu. Their clothes obviously do not change in pre-rendered but do change in real-time.

Who'd have thought that some of the best hours of some of our most creative minds would be spent on PS4 ports ike TLOU and Beyond Two Souls?

I always knew that the latter half of the PS3's lifespan would be seen as a golden age. The lighting and , actually , the detail of the colours, in parts of The Last of Us were absolutely beautiful. I don't like returning to it - partly because I'd be scared but also because it's like going back to a gerat feast the day after. It's too much to keep wanting it to be fresh each time - I'm not worthy to get new nuances out of it each time.

There is seriously no difference at all, but like it has been stated several times, this is comparing a pre-rendered scene to a pre-rendered scene...so it'll be best to wait till actual gameplay video emerges...the big difference should be the 60fps

Dont care for crappy screenshots comparisons, or soon to be YouTube comparisons. Games like this have to be played to see the difference, and feel it as well. I don't expect a HUGE jump in any way other than texture, AA, Resolution and, of course FPS. That is enough for me to warrant a 50$ purchase of a game that is easily one of the best of last gen.

Can't wait to play the Multiplayer again. Hell, I can't wait to play through it again. If you have a PS4 and haven't played this on PS3 yet ESPECIALLY..Get it.

The package as a whole is a great deal.

50$ for all the MP DLC and SP DLC, revamp of the game, better over all.

It is still close to full price retail on PS3.

Its a shame the game was made on the ps3, they could have gone so much further. Dont get me wrong, naughty dog is top notch on making expressive faces. But their also really good at low polygon counts on anything that isnt a face.

After all the stuff about the PS4 being easy to program for compared to the PS2 or PS3, the irony is that when you're porting a game from architecture as exotic as the PS3 was it's as hard as ever.

It's a bit like having a greatly polished marble (PS3 game).

And then you have to try to make a slightly more polished marble on the PS4. You know exactly what your blueprint for the appearance of the marble is but you have very different tools and very different materials. Technically better ones but you're still human and you know how long it took to get the PS3 game made in the first place, how that game was optimised for the PS3. Are you going to be able to optimise it as well for the PS4? Or, despite superficial visual improvements, will the PS3 version and controller remain the definitive version? If only in terms of 'doing the very best with what you've got' because the PS3 game will have squeezed far more out of the PS3 than the PS4 game squeezes out of the PS4. There are few ports (e.g. Resident Evil Remake) that make the original totally redundant. Is the PS3 actually superior in some ways because of its very customised architecture as opposed to the PS4's PC-like architecture? I daresay it is but a 'Cell version 2' which might have been awesome in Naughty Dog's hands was not trusted massively in anyone else's. It's a philosophical problem that Microsoft haven't had to worry about as the Xbox One is clearly a leap above the Xbox360 in every respect- the 360 was no particularly exotic architecture.

Too many an emphasis on graphics. Graphics do not make the gameplay better.

If its not a new experience why get hyped. Only if you haven't played the before then you should be excited and hyped to purchase. I'm beginning to think two things..

1. Modern gamers are very casual gamers... But why would they spend the time to come to a website, fill out the registration and then leave a comment. Then leads to my second theory..

2. This is just a paid advert with paid drones leaving comments with some fanboys sprinkled here and there... Hmmm idk..
