'Huge proportion' of PS4 owners haven't played The Last of Us, says Sony

A "huge proportion" of PlayStation 4 owners have never played The Last of Us, Sony has said after sifting through data on PlayStation Network.

I was a 360 owner. But I also owned the PS3. Glad I didnt beat the game. I played for a couple hours but then became a Dota addict. Glad I didn't because I AM going to beat this game on the PS4.

I was a little jealous of all the new players who will experience this game for the first time since I played and completed this game on PS3. But then I thought... None of us has experienced the game on PS4, and in 1080p and consistent 60 fps. This how we were meant to experience it.

And since I never bought Left behind or played the multiplayer. I can't wait to get back into the world of TLOU. It's gonna be incredible even if I'm playing through the story for the second time around, I'll be experiencing it in an all new way to me. And to that extent, it's like playing through the game for the first time.

*Criterion is a Company that remasters movies to the Highest quality of video and sound making it the definitive version to own.

Well I've beaten the game 3 times on PS3. But going into the Remaster will be a first on PS4, a first at 60fps and a first at 1080p. It will also be a first playing grounded so... yeah it'll a kinda a first for me too. lol

You shouldn't feel sorry for us. I'm going to experience the game for the first time at 1080P 60FPS with all the DLC included for a low price of 40€. So you see missing out on the PS3 version isn't such a bad thing.

No reason to feel sorry. I have a PS3 and a PS4 havent played it yet. It came out when I wanted to secure my PS4 first then I heard rumors it may get remastered so I waited and looks like a good wait. Will get higher quality version + all dlc content for $49.99, I feel sorry for anyone who wont play through it on their first time with the definitive version.

When it came out I was busy playing FFXIV:ARR so I put it off, intending to pick it up when it dropped in price, but the hype died down, and Dark Souls 2 came out, which took a ton of my time. When ND announced the remastered version, it was the last straw though- I'll be picking it up day 1.... whenever that is.

I haven't played it and I am very excited to buy it and play it on the PS4. I had a ps3 but by the time Last of Us came out I really wasn't a game buying dude knowing that next gen was around the corner and I was going to sell the ps3 while it still had value.

There are in for a treatment, my personal favorite game of Last Generation together with original Uncharted and Uncharted 2.

Pre ordered my PS4 copy and look forward to once again playing superb single player with excellent online.

I said a couple days ago that i felt they were mainly remastering it because it came out near the end of the Ps3 cycle and lots of people missed out. Glad to see i'm in some way correct! i finished the game countless times and plat'ed it too. But i haven't purchased any DLC.. So i'm looking forward to TLOU on PS4 as much as the next guy.

I can't wait to play it again at 60fps. They should remake all the ps3 greatest hits and bundle it on the console. Games like God of War 3, MGS4, Uncharted series all those remade for the new PS owners.

I have to disagree with you there, unless your definition of "not a lot" is more than 6 million.

With a little more than 8 million PS4s sold, (an estimate based on monthly sales) it's fair to assume that 30% of these sales were to people who have never owned a PS3. That figure comes to 2.4 million. A logical person would have no choice but to assume that at least 1 million of these people who are new to Playstation will buy TLOU for PS4. Toss in another million copies to people who want to play it again and throw in another 250,000 to 500,000 new PS4s sold over the next 3 to 4 months and Sony will have another hit on their hands. Keep in mind these are all estimates, but even at the lowest estimates, Sony can expect at least 1.5 million copies of this game to be sold over the next 3 to 6 months. Let the disagrees roll in.

theres a lot of games that sell 6 million, just saying they can do better, I want them to do better, I am not talking about breaking even or anything, I want the games to be well received like mario kart or grand theft, these sell over 10 million, look at Gamecube sold over 20 million consoles, and mario kart for it sold over 10 million, that is over 50 percent adoption rate......very few reach 10 million and higher, Gran Turismo for the ps2 was their first game to sell over 10 million,so hopefully sony fans do better and support sony instead of supporting 3rd parties more

i have a PS4 and still wont get it .
because different people have different tastes in the other hand i cant wait for LBP3 , Rime , and maybe if i saw more bloodborne .
the last of us is the best game in its genre and in providing cinematic experience glad that people can enjoy a wide variety of experiences for me i like fantasy innocent out of this world games or classic formula games like Sonic and ratchet , ICo .

i can look at vgchartz and see it sold less than 5 million. ps4 sold 9 million. obviously not everyone who bought tlou bought a ps4. i presume a max of 1 in 7 of ps4 owners have played the game.
