It has been a long time coming and when it finally does arrive, it had best be something very, very special. Gamers are expecting nothing less.
GB: "With this feature, we run down 15 of the most underrated games on the PS4 that never received the love and appreciation they truly deserve."
I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.
I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.
There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
Friendship is hard to depict accurately, but The Last Guardian does a good job of showing all its ups and downs through Trico and the boy.
I enjoyed the game but it started out too simple and easy. If the entire game was as intense and challenging as the last 20% it would have been a 10/10 experience.
I managed to grab the collectors edition for £40 about a year after it released. Was an enjoyable game, but I had just finished Shadow of the colossus, and whilst I enjoyed it, it was not as good when compared.
To better understand why The Last Guardian's Trico clicked with some gamers and annoyed others, this article will explore the story behind the beast to see what makes it tick. Although a somewhat polarizing figure, Trico is a unique element of The Last Guardian that is equal parts captivating and mysterious. While some appreciate the beast's realism and unpredictability, other found the strange creature to be a tad too frustrating.
If it is not masterful, what would you do about it?
The game had insane amount pressure to be nothing but spectacular, I don't know if any developer is even equipped to handle that kind of unbelievably high expectations, especially now on the PS4 when people will be expecting the game to look even more high fidelity. Games are already hard to make and when you add this kind of pressure to the mix I would think that has a adverse effect on the game developement, hence the constant "Developement Hell" news stories for The Last Guardian.
What amuses is me is the level of hype for this game.
I remember when ICO came out. It got fairly mixed reviews, and nobody I knew had played it. I liked it on release, but traded it as it was OK, but not outstanding - mainly because of the slightly clunky controls. I bought it again a few years later and appreciated it a lot more, but it still has it's faults.
Same with Colossus. I didn't know many people who had much to say about it when it released. It also had slightly clunky controls, and a few rough edges - it was a brilliant experience though
But over the years Team ICO games have taken on this amazing life, where EVERYONE seems to have played and loved their games - which is strange as the the original run of ICO was tiny, and they had to re-issue it as so few played it. If as many people had bought ICO / SotC as claim to have played it - it would be rivalling Halo and Mario for sales!!
There's nothing wrong with being excited for a game - I am certainly eager to play it, but if you look at the previous Team ICO games, and take an honest and critical point of view, it's pretty easy to see that this game won't match the hype. But for those people who loved ICO and SotC as an experience rather than a game, they are likely to be pleased. The problem is, those people who have jumped on the hype train, and probably haven't played Team ICO games are the ones making the most noise and will be the same people who slam it for not being enough of a 'game'..
Last Guardian won't be at E3 2015 and everyone will still cling to hope.
Even axel rose can wright an album quicker than the development on this :-/
