Kinda hoping this gets ported to PsVita, Xb1, and wii u. This kind of game should change the industry

mikeslemonade3584d ago

This game is gonna flop like the next spore. It's too ambitious and the object of the game is not clear.

60FramesPerSecond3584d ago

I actually enjoyed spore. just saying

Meatyboy3584d ago

Not having an objective is not a problem at all, Fez is one of my favorite games and was just about exploration as you couldn't even die.

Also these's Minecraft where you just build things with no reasoning other than just building them and Minecraft didn't do so bad did it?

iceman063584d ago

There is an object....to explore the vastness of the game.

Magicite3584d ago

Spore was AAA published by EA, this is an indie.

MysticStrummer3583d ago

I don't remember Spore ever having this kind of buzz. No Man's Sky arguably stole E3 and instantly appeared on many people's "Most Anticipated" lists. Nothing points to a flop.

sonarus3583d ago

I don't care if it flops. I just know that i want it. I am perfectly fine exploring this universe solo

Killzoner993584d ago

You can play it via remote play on Vita but there's no way the WiiU or Xbone could run this game. It's a PS4 exclusive anyway so you won't be seeing it on ANY other console.

60FramesPerSecond3584d ago

Dude, Xbox has shown more interest in this than Sony before E3. Remember VGX? Yeah, after that Microsoft really supported it. I am sure this game will be on Xb1. I dont know whether i will buy it on ps4 or xb1, but i am sure of it being on xb1

MasterCornholio3584d ago

@60

"Xbox has shown more interest in this than Sony before E3."

If that was true then they would have nabbed it as a timed exclusive. But they didn't because Sony showed more interest in the game.

Blues Cowboy3584d ago

It'll be on PC soon enough.

I have no doubt that the PS4 *console* exclusivity will last a long time, possibly a year. Remember that this is EXACTLY the same team behind Joe Danger.

KinjoTakemura3584d ago

No amount of hoping and praying will make this game magically appear on Xbox One. If it wasn't for that stupid console parity clause, you might have been able to play it on Xbox One.

Half_Minute_Hero3583d ago (Edited 3583d ago )

You can't be stupid enough to believe that it can't run on the X1, can you?

kinjo - Too bad that Microsoft always bypasses the clause when they want a game bad enough, so yes, there's a very good chance that it comes to the X1, especially since it's coming to the PC.

Kryptonite42O3583d ago

@ Kinjo

Don't count it out completely.. There have been a couple games this gen that have already got around that stupid parity clause.

Outlast and Contrast so far to be specific..

"Our goal is not to limit developers who are interested in Xbox One," "In instances where games have signed a timed exclusive with another platform, we'll work with them on a case by case basis. We encourage them to get in touch at [email protected]."

Timesplitter143584d ago (Edited 3584d ago )

It is pretty ambitious, but it's not the black magic that a lot of people think it is. Making an infinite universe where everything is different is something a lot of aspiring game programmers do in their free time to put in their resumés, or just for fun.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Procedural content is popular among indie devs (minecraft, Binding of Isaac, etc...) because it is actually easier to do this (and often more fun) than to manually populate a world.

frostypants3584d ago (Edited 3584d ago )

Yep. It's the way a lot of games used to be done. Elder Scrolls 2 did it. It wasn't in generated in real time, but the absolutely gigantic map was clearly procedurally generated at design time rather than the thousands of towns/dungeons being hand-built.

The problem procedurally-generated games often have is they can often feel lacking and hollow. In No Man's Sky, I'm hoping they build in enough interaction with other players and enough real goals (like a strong economic framework and political ramifications) to prevent it from losing its appeal once randomly flying around gets boring.

aliengmr3583d ago (Edited 3583d ago )

Infinity Tech demo is another example.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

That was from 2010, but there was a video years before showing a seamless transition from space to the planet surface.

You will also notice around the 2:30 - 2:50 mark he begins selecting random stars which you can travel to.

Inzo3584d ago

This game has really peaked my interest!

joab7773584d ago

It will not be allowed to fail! If they r being truthful and following dayZ and other gamea and releasing an extended beta to help shape the game, it may do very well.

U do not need missions or quests to b successful. U simply need to give players the tools they want for their playground, and they will take it from there.

SaveFerris3583d ago

I'm really excited for this game. Take your time Hello Games. Us gamers will be waiting.

The game that keeps on giving 🦾🥳✌️

Agree, curious what they are cooking up for that one?!

The 10 PSVR 2 Games You Should Own

If you're looking for 'must have' PSVR 2 games then look no further. These are the 10 titles every PSVR 2 owner should have in their library.

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos37d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts37d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook736d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka36d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka37d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

Neonridr37d ago

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz37d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos36d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1737d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca37d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.
