I think maybe it really is time for voice acting.

littlebighamm3661d ago

You do remember what happened to Samus when they had voice acting, right?

Reverent3661d ago

As long as Link remains the mute that he is, I really don't think anyone should have any problems with that.

crusf3661d ago

"I think maybe it really is time for voice acting." Why? So people can complain that it was a wrong move by Nintendo. Other M remember?

Dubaman3661d ago

@NiteX
Though there were characters that had speech in MP3, Samus herself didn't speak.

randomass1713661d ago

Voice acting was in Prime 3 and that wa actually good. Other M's acting sucked because of the poor direction throughout the entire game.

tinkypop3661d ago

don't agree.
that give everyone a personal.
with out a voice you can add you're own.

krazykombatant3661d ago

maybe of the characters but not link.

Other M. Showed how this can be done extremely wrong.

randomass1713661d ago

Voice acting is a big yes! But please keep Link mute. Samus talking didn't really work out and I'd rather Link stayed silent.

Metallox3661d ago

More, more, more; that's the key.

Definitely agree with the voice acting and RPG elements. The Legend of Zelda II is one of my favorites due to the RPG elements and its challenging enemies. Most of all, I want to see this game story driven for once. Nintendo does gameplay and innovation like no one else, IMO, however they yet to make that story/presentational game that would proke emotion and thought. I think a new Zelda (possibly Metriod) would be the perfect platform to do so... also add something innovative for using the Wii U pad too.

I agree with some but RPG elements and Voice acting have no place in Zelda. For VA stop being lazy entitled brats, you know the minute they add in voice acting the the ones you begged for it (YOU) will be the first to complain about it. The game is fine without voice acting.

As for RPG elements, I disagree because Zelda has always been an adventure game where you had to use your brains and your items to solve puzzles. RPG elements will only over complicate things and people will have to grind out extra work because they didn't get item to level x. I liked having ALBW reward you for doing the side quest and upgrade weapons to make you stronger but they didn't interrupt progress. The upgrading in Skyward Sword was annoying and the breakable shield was annoying to the point where I just played the game without a shield. Link doesn't need to level up, experience points aren't needed just add more side stuff and side dungeons to enhance the adventure. Smarter AI would be welcome too for players with higher skill. I loved ALBW but i felt it was too easy and some dungeons WAY to short.

On the agreed points, aging would be interesting. Wind Waker was going to have aging in it before it was scrapped so seeing Link's progression from childhood to adult would be great. Time Traveling would need to be done well again, nothing crazy like going into the flying car future but simple like Ocarina of Time. Returning to different places would be fun but I feel it may get confusing since Hyrule drastically changes over all the games.

It hasn't "always" been just an adventure game. I think a Castlevania "like" RPG system where you are rewarded for progress through the game instead the typical grind of fighting enemy after enemy to level up. To me, the voice acting would a great point for Nintendo to say, we've looked at newer gaming trends and want to really step up into a "modern" sense of gaming. Don't get me wrong, I really hope they don't add just to add it... and it ends up like a StarFox... but if done right, it would speak volumes to more modern/mature nature that they want to take the series.

Summons753661d ago

Castlevania didn't really use RPG elements until SOTN and then the series went in a weird direction. The Classic games had power ups so you actually could stand a chance against some of the stronger enemies. The power ups were slightly random dropping from candles/breakable bricks/ enemies. That doesn't make it an rpg. If they keep the reward system for the side content like in ALBW then I wouldn't have a problem. I actually felt compelled to go out and look for the squid kids for the rewards. I would have been able to play the game and progress just fine without them, it didn't take away from the game but added.

fonger083661d ago

SoTN is sort of what I was thinking of. It never felt like a grind to experience up... I don't know, I feel like there can be a difference between a skyrim RPG system and a SoTN. Whatever they end up doing though, nintendo isn't going to screw it up, that's for sure

No voice acting please, it makes games look like cheap movies. I think characters show more emotion when there isn't any voice acting. Wind Waker is a perfect example of this.

randomass1713661d ago

The voice acting CAN help though. Not saying it has to be there, but it can help the game cinematically. I just want Link to stay mute. He's never spoken before and he doesn't need to start now.

nerdman673661d ago

No motion controls and I am good.
I would like to see and RPG zelda where you have side quests and gain expirience to upgrade Link's skills. Keep the gameplay like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess(gamecube version), make it an RPG with a bunch of quests and such, and the idea that Link starts as a kid in the story and gets older and older sounds awesome.
Too bad Nintendo will probably not do any of this

MNGamer-N3661d ago

Would LOVE a Zelda RPG! That would be amazing.

NukaCola3661d ago

Would absolutely love a true JRPG.

I personally think Zelda series needs a new direction. I'd like to play a Steampunked Zelda or even dare to try something non-medieval showing off a different take on the universe.

Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her

Inverno76d ago

Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.

Directionless Modern Zelda Should Return to its 3D Roots

Matt from We Game Daily writes "The Legend of Zelda series has gone in a different direction. One which, try as I have, I just can’t get on board with. Here is why I think Zelda should return to its 3D roots."

Amen! A good, tight, Zelda game with a focus on dungeons and puzzles. Let people have the new style Zelda if you gotta, but let us have the OoT style games too. That's not without precedent either, the handheld 2D Zelda's in the style of A Link to the Past etc have coexisted alongside the 3D Zelda's before

FinalFantasyFanatic107d ago

As much as I like BoTW, TotK, I need my traditional Zelda games as well, I could not endlessly play the open world Zelda games, plus it's harder to keep those fresher than the traditional games.

Eidolon107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

BotW was just as fresh to the franchise as OoT was. TokT was great but the next LoZ would have to move from that formula to be fresh again. There's only so much they can do with the hardware. I think they focused too much on making the world big instead impactful. I felt the world was sort of empty and repetitive in TotK, sure there was a lot to do but no more difference a Ubisoft game..

anast106d ago

I wouldn't worry too much. Nintendo knows what they are doing.

Ristul106d ago

Wind Waker had a perfect balance of open world and a cool, well hand-crafted design. Maybe try to keep the open world but put in effort to make more memorable story driven quests and locations.

Zelda Fan Brings Godzilla to Life in Tears of the Kingdom

A fan of The Legend of Zelda has recreated the iconic Japanese monster Godzilla in Tears of the Kingdom using the game's Zonai devices.

I like it would also be cool if some created Dragon Caesar in the game I would love to watch the two going at it.
