PS4 - Lot's Of PlayStation News Happening This Week, Details On Firmware Update 1.7 "Coming Soon"

MP1st - Announced on March 19th, Sony revealed that the PS4 would be receiving a major update that was set to include many new features, including the removal of the dreaded HDCP that many have requested. Though they stated that the update would be available "Soon", nearly a month has passed since we've gotten any word about it, though it seems that may change this week.

We all know Software isn't Sony's strong suit but it's nice to hear updates are on the way, what games do you guys think they are teasing? ND will kill it with Uncharted for sure

I am kinda hoping that Sony will keep their big surprised close to their chest only to unleash everything at E3. That'd make it the E3 experience even that awesome and allow Sony to continue working on their titles without any pressure.

As for the Firmware. After I got my headset working, I am good. Though, it'd be nice to have most of the PS3 features added to the PS4 such as Pause/Resume downloads etc.

I doubt they'll over kill with Uncharted, considering they just announced TLOU last week. I think we''ll see that at E3, this week should see stuff on Everybody's Gone to Rapture, Shadow of the Beast, and Drive club

It will be firmware related IMO. As for E3 I truly hope Uncharted and Driveclub wont be the only games there.

There is Guerrilla's new IP, a new god of war, hopefully the last guardian (dont hold your breath though), maybe a new heavenly sword announcement and for the love of god I hope some new AAA IPs are in the making its the reason I invested in Sony for their exclusives and not being afraid to make something new (see TLoU and Quantic Dreams games)!

I agree completely. If last gen taught us anything, it's NOT to get hyped over firmware updates. If when the update comes out and it's not what you were expecting, then voice your opinion. I want to see media functions added back in so I can stream from my computer to PS4, folders, and customization options. That's all I want. So unless they add something I don't want I can be like "oh wow, thanks guys!" I just keep my expectations low

Try removing the CD from the drive & see if it continues.

The drive lenses were not very good, or purposely sabotaged depending on who you believe. The main faults with the PS4 since launch have been with faulty Blu-ray drives & DS4 pads.

My drive makes some horrendous noises at times. Getting stuck in seek mode even when being switched off. Or failing to read a disc until you've inserted it 2/3 times or getting half way through a DVD/Blu-ray & suddenly going into a rage fuelled spin. I can live with it at the moment though until I suspect there's some new revisions before my warranty runs out then ill send it back. Unless it completely dies before then.

"soon" in Sony language is a couple of months so whenever a sony rep. "says expect something soon" i usually replace the "soon" with "couple of months" instead.

All I care about at this stage is a big hefty firmware update.

The system has been out for 6 months now & the UI, OS & functionality is still shite.

I don't just want HDCP removed & a little better streaming optimisation. I want 6 months worth of serious work produced. Some clear OS optimisation a hefty complete UI overhaul & some new added functionality - Promised features - Standby/resume, mp3 support etc..

Seeing how this stuff was promised to be looked at straight after the release of the console. I don't think this is too much to ask for after waiting 6 months for it.

Our local gamestop manager told my bf that GTA V is coming to PC/PS4/Xbox One in September, and it will be 1080p/60fps, improved graphics, more pedestrians, a rewind feature?? & share features and will include an all new 5hr single player DLC!

It's a feature that let's you play your media such as music, photos and videos from your mobile phone, laptops, computers, etc.

Some modern TVs has this feature built in, but its better to have it on the PS4 as well.

blah blah, I'm getting sick and tired of all these articles of more news is coming and they want us all to get excited but yet it's nothing even remotely cool or news worth. let's get the real announcements coming, sony kept telling us they have tons of ps4 games in the work but all i see is games being delayed and no news for anything new. where's driveclub, uncharted, new ip, last guardian, the order, media molecules new ip, deep down, david gage new ip, guerrillas new ip, and for the system it's self, 3d support, full stand by mode, ps now, internet infrastructure, the list goes on and on. the only thing new on the system is indie games. sony is dropping the ball and leading people on with all the false hopes they announced at the ps4 launch and e3, there are only a few things this gen worth getting excited for. sony made it seem like it was going to be the biggest year for there first party studios but i'm just not seeing it.
