Honesty Hour: Has A Game Ever Made You Cry?

TechRaptor - Impactful stories and engaging narratives aren’t exclusive to books, movies, and television, but you knew that. You know that when looking for an emotional experience, video games often offer up some of the best choices money can buy. The requirement for telling a story or invoking a feeling is something the masters of the medium have perfected, and in the modern age more than ever we now see the priority of games shift more often to the story and the message, over the gameplay and the graphics.

Shed a tear, yeah. There's never been one that has made me fully cry though.

Funnily enough, both times it's happened has been due to the death of a child.

Oh, I don't know. Call of Duty World At War on Veteran with all the grenade spamming drove me to insanity and back, and when I beat the game was a moment of elation.

MGS 3 Snakeater had a very poignant ending about love, honor and death which tugged on the heart strings also.

Then there are those games which were absolutely terrible and induced proper man crying!

Wagz223667d ago

Wow yea world at war on veteran...my god what was ridiculous, when I platinumed in that I just put the controller down and said never again lol

Bathyj3667d ago

That's funny, I'm playing snake eater right now and my eyes are watering, but only cos it's 1am and I'm tired.

Not really, no. Many years ago it would have but when you live in an area of the UK where tears are seen as weakness and weakness is prayed upon, you tend to learn to stifle them early. So, with that in mind: games that have made me choke up are Brothers, Journey and TLOU. I do mourn for tears though ... They make you feel human.

First 20min of The Last of Us made me cry like a little kid !

micx3667d ago

Agreed, it was clear that we're looking at a storytelling masterpiece right from the beginning.

micx3667d ago

Heavy Rain and The Last of Us, on top of my mind.
Those were powerful experiences.

Thatguy-3103667d ago

-Heavy Rain hit me when I got the ending of Nathan dying right after rescuing his son.
-The Last of Us got me a few times throughout the playthrough
-Journey brought me to tears but they were happy tears because of how beautifully crafted the ending was with the graphics and the music
-KH2's ending was pretty emotional too in a good way.

mochachino3667d ago (Edited 3667d ago )

MGS4 microwave and everything after.

Journey was close.

Now that I think about, Playstation 3 was just ridiculous for the number and genre variety of amazing exclusives.

Concertoine3667d ago

Persona 3's ending.
Also Silent hill 2, actually... i got so immersed into that game and that 5 minute mologue from Mary at the end killed me.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
