Sony's Unannounced Sandbox Game Gets a Teaser Site; Announcement Coming Tomorrow

Today Sony Online Entertainment opened a new website for its unannounced project, apparently codenamed H1Z1. The website shows just a rather eerie landscape for the moment.

President John Smedley mentioned on Twitter that the game will be fully unveiled with gameplay footage tomorrow.

Yeah, the zombie theme is saturated (a lot) but I love survival-horror, with enfasis on survival and the horror theme. If you add Sandbox and MMORPG to that equation it is preety much my (wait for it) Sandbox.

SOE must have their hands full right now with the Planetside 2 port to PS4 and Everquest Next, plus this one.

If they keep their standards, I will have my hands full with good F2P games.

I agree with BEASELY below, it would be nice to have a long term, MP sandbox game for PS4 to play over the course of the PS4's cycle.

The only improvement should be that it's a sandlot game instead of a sandbox game.
A sandlot game is the same as a sandbox game except that at same point you hear "Green Onions."

I kinda hope it's something in the lines of Arma II mod DayZ. As flawed as it was every now and then, it had some amazing moments. Trying to get enough resources with your team to get vehicles working, enough medical supply to assemble a "hospital", forming a hunting posse to garther food for everyone, getting ourselves a fortress to fend against other players, setting ambushes to steal resources... Imagine something like that, a lot more stable, with more players and a more vivid world.

zombies are a great enemy to fight in games if done well and proper. i hate that people think there is too much of them. avoid the shit and there is a drought on good zombie games, LOU and L4D 1 and 2 are really the only good zombie games i can recall playing.

if it is indeed post-apocalyptic survival horror sandbox, this could be the ps4 Day-z. Not that I don't want that game on consoles cause I've have had so much fun in the mod. But this could be an excellent alternative if done right. I can't wait for tomorrow.

Noone does research anymore it appears. CCP is building a vampire MMO. It is called World of Darkness. Its been in development for awhile. :) It has an unknown date at the moment, but I suspect 2015 at the earliest.

I wish more games were announced in this fashion. Teaser site goes up, gameplay the following day and word that you'll be able to play the game soon. I hate hearing about a game I'm interested in (don't know about H1Z1 though) and having the wait 1-2 years to play it. I like this tight lip to delivery approach.

Why not make some kick ass MMORPG AAA for PS4

Sony hasn't really shined with games as they did for last decade on PS2/3
I'm a huge KillZone fan & it just broke my heart to see Guirilla rushing out such a crappy game
Infamous is also good but more or less same as previous games with godly visuals
Let's not even talk about knack ,while Drive Club still in the limbo

So far this gen feels very behind previous gens for both ps4 and x1 in terms of games.
For me it's the least exciting period of gaming I've had in a while.

I get what you are saying but you gotta remember most of the games you mentioned (SOTC, LOU, GOW) came out during the middle & end of the consoles library.

It is pretty normal that the first year or so of a new console the lineup is pretty scarce when dealing with AAA first party games. That is why Sony is dealing with so many Indies to fill in the time until these games are ready. Then there are the 3rd party games as well to hold us over.

We were fortunate to get Infamous SS & Killzone SF at that quality so early, it bold well what we can expect from Sony's 1st party teams.

I remember when the PSone came out we got Ridge Racer & Battle Arena Toshinden. For the PS2 Tekken Tag & Fantavision, PS3 it was Resistance & Genji.

When being a Playstation gamer the key word is patience cause eventually we will get gems that define the generation.

My recommendation is to find a good FTP game to play or MMO to help alleviate the pains of waiting for the next AAA title. For example, I'm playing TF2 right now which is an incredibly fun game to play. Once the next big AAA comes out I will just move onto that.
