One thing you must realize is PC gamers always talk hardware when really windows is like the worst gaming OS ever and having the most powerful hardware with crap software don't mix a console is strictly for gaming. When you have something built from the bottom up only for gaming you get huge benefits Look at FF14 the PC is actually holding the game back from looking better they had to release a update that actually turnd down the GFX a lil bit because ppl with lower-end pcs were complaining they couldn't play it. Now with a console like PS4 its powerful and theyre all the same specs so devs don't have to try to get the game to run on low-end PCs. PCs have too many drivers and driver conflicts and errors IMO. Last time i checked Windows 7 OS 64 bit uses only 2 GB of RAM, while say X1 has 3 OS running, altogether using 3 GB, and PS4 is using 3.5 GB

PC fans will say it's BS. PC fanboys will damage control and say they don't care about high res texture or better build games and say PC is still superior.
But how can a "poorly" done game or a last-gen port be better on a PC if more efforts are put in the console version?
The thing about consoles is that it's the minimum and maximum specs at the same time.
When making games on PC, on a marketing level, they have to see what have been sold and what haven't.
So, it sucks for all PC fans who invest a lot of money on their system to get the best possible experience, but isn't getting it.
It defeats the whole point of investing in PC in the first place.
Again, this isn't always the case, a lot of games can get optimize for better performance.

Since this is an MMO, this will be the issue. MMOs on the PC have to be made to cater to as wide a band of hardware variances in order to insure enough people pickup the game to be lucrative. MMOs are costly to make and maintain and you want as many customers as possible. This is the SOLE reason for WoW's success. WoW can run on damn near ANYTHING at this point.

Yes, they could "uncap" the PC version and allow those with the hardware to push things higher, BUT then they would have to spend the time to make the extra and separate resources (textures and models) for the high end PC players. For an emerging MMO and developer, this is just NOT possible as it is too costly for the developer.

Blizzard was able to do this because the game evolved with the hardware, but even WoW on the highest settings still looks "OK" in comparison to non-MMOs designed to really look beautiful on high-end PCs (Skyrim, Witcher, Crysis, etc.).

In the case of MMOs being ported to consoles, since every console is the same the developer can easily optimize the graphics to get as much out as possible, unlike PC where you must cater to the lowest common denominator you can to ensure decent sales.

hell look at WoW at its userbase, sure the game has been around forever and established game mechanics that work well. BUT how many of the people playing wow today are still doing so on a laptop that they bought when it first came out or if not that is at least 5+ years old. In reference to it looking better on PS4... all we can know for sure is that the PS4 is super optimized and that the PC version will probably have things the PS4 doesn't like the ability to max out resolution.

Also, the PS4 may have more addressable memory than the PC version will. For example, the PC may require 4GB and they may have an extra half gig on PS4. This may increase the PS4's fidelity but I still argue that the PC will have better resolution.

Did I mention that this game is the definition of EPIC? The amount of on screen action is staggering and seems overwhelming at times.

To all the PC players complaining about disagrees:

The high res textures and models MUST exist FIRST before your graphics settings can improve.

You can push AA and Anisotropy as far as you want. If you don't have the textures or models the game will still look like poop, just smooth poop.

It'd be like running the original Unreal WITHOUT improved textures on a modern card with maxed graphics card settings (overriding those in the game). Sure it'll look smooth as can be, but it will not look pretty.

In the case of THIS game, they are focusing their time on the console version first. In the case of OTHER MMOs were PC versions are "gimped" it is NOT because of consoles, it is because of OTHER PCs AND the developers decisions to NOT include higher end models and textures for those that COULD use them.

The PS4's coding is much lighter and has a better coding. For the same tasks, the PS4 can do more with less.
Again, Direct X12 should give a boost and actually give a performance boost.

there are plenty of PC-exclusive games that run like crap; what you (and a lot of PC fanboys [not calling you one, of course]) fail to factor into your statement is that PC gamers will hardly be in the majority when it comes to high-end PCs and that the more business oriented/poorer/smaller developers will ultimately cater to the middle.

All this means is that the PS4 is more powerful than the average PC, and depending on the way they take advantage of the PS4, the game could look better overall than the PC version.

Just like Crysis: it probably will have the best graphics for a long time coming, but at the time it was over-powered for the majority of PC players, that's why the other two weren't as powerful, which had little to nothing to do with consoles.

In contrast, look at PS4 indie games: that's not hardly catering to the PS4's power, but since they are small and don't have a big budget to spend in devs, they make do, and, compared to the new Infamous, for example, put out an inferior game, graphically.

Or to sum it up, who among us gives a poo if the trees grew back in a game; would anyone even notice that the trees COULD grow back if they did?

It's also why I don't consider games as a whole as art; because artists will go all out for their art whereas business-oriented developers treat games as a money-making scheme (like paying for add-ons/extra content/more boards and to play online), which is why I don't have a PS4/x1 yet as I'm still deciding if I want to go through that or just put $1000-$5000 into a PC and be done with it.

I just want to say, that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I haven't had a driver conflict since xp, if that. Not to mention a driver conflict is hardly a reason to reformat once, much less over and over. If that was a real situation, I would say theres an issue with the hardware, or with the way the drivers/software were installed. Neither of which are problems of the OS.

OR the developers actually want to make money on the PC version, and therefore have to target lower end machines because only a fraction of PC gaming enthusiasts (when compared to the full number of PC gamers) have rigs that are anywhere near PS4. Remember, it takes a PC more powerful than PS4 to match PS4 due to inefficiencies in the DirectX API (why DX12 and Mantle are being rolled out, to combat that bottleneck) and lack of unified memory. Not to mention, some performance is lost due to the fact that the PC SKU has to be able to run on a wide range of hardware.

Actually generally pcs people have aren't that good , there are high end pcs but they are outnumbered by low end pcs by a fair margin even for people that play games, most people just go to a store and buy a pre made pc that's usually crap. Obviously gimped, I objectively choose whatever is best, if the PS4 was better I would buy it, if the Xbox one was better I would buy it or if somehow Nintendo was better I would buy it...but none of them are. Not true, I believe it was Digital Foundry that compared BF4 on PS4 to the equivalent AMD r265 gpu and the r265 not only ran BF4 at 1080p, but consistently higher resolutions with higher graphics settings. I'm all for the PS4 edition, yo fool, not all PS4 gamers are poor people who can't afford a PC. The thing most of the PC crowd don't understand is that while PC's are a lot more powerful than consoles and always will be (yes, everyone gets this). However devs will never use that full power on games. Why? Cause these types of PC's are owned by a minority and devs will lose a lot of cash trying to create games for them.

PC crowd will need to get used to the fact that PC and PS4 is pretty much on par this time when it comes to delivering games (give or take) which is why some games are better on PC and some better on PS4.

It's not a case of devs being lazy, it is simply devs weighing up the biggest market for their game.

anyway Mods do a pretty good job of pushing graphics further and harder. most of my games run with a graphics mod. Graphics mod are something not talked about much on this site except GTAIV ICenhancer mod.

Problem with PC as you see with this developer, most never fully utilize all that expensive shit you put into it because PC is a general base of people who all do not have the same identical system setup, therefor when developing on PC you have to keep in mind you want your game to work on most PC's, not just the most expensive ones, which many people do not have. Newer better GPU's are almost coming out every couple months now which doesn't help either with them having to create new drivers to improve and even use the gains as always. Consoles will have their advantages and so will PC's, move on, same goes for disadvantages.

Oh it only took 07 til games got significantly better than ps3. After that they was out performing at a higher res. Take a look at nvidia GPU Pascal, that drops 2yrs. Maxwell dropping this yr. Let me break it down for you guys that are not part of the PC scene: TO THE METAL OPTIMIZATIONS DO NOT BENEFIT BALANCED PC'S AT ALL, BUT WILL BENEFIT UNBALANCED PC's.

What do I mean by a balanced PC? I mean that if the person who understands bottlenecks knows how to properly select the right processor for the right video card, then the video card will be 100% utilized AT ALL TIMES.

For instance, it would be stupid to pair a GTX780Ti with an Intel i3 series processor because such a processor cannot send graphics data to such a video card fast enough. This results in the video card getting under utilized. An i3 can though, feed a GTX750 at full speed because this low end card is not as powerful as the GTX780ti in that it cannot render graphics data near as fast. Thus, it will request graphics data at a slower rate that the i3 processor can handle.

All Mantle and DirectX 12 will do is lower the bottlenecks caused by poor processor choices from idiots that did not properly balance the system. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY PERFORMANCE INCREASES FOR THE VIDEO CARD. IT ONLY HELPS THE PROCESSOR SEND DATA FASTER TO KEEP UP WITH THE VIDEO CARD!!!

So, those that know how to properly balance a PC that have like Intel i7 processors sending data to a GTX780ti WILL NOT GET ANY PERFORMANCE INCREASES WITH OPTIMIZATIONS. This is because the processor already feeds the video to 100% level at all times.

I tried out Mantle API with my r9-290X that is paired with an i7-3930K, and I saw NO PERFORMANCE INCREASES. It was just a waste of time for me. However, those with weak AMD CPU's got like a 20 to 30% boost that was bringing the performance close to my i7-3930k, but not quite.

Hell a mid range PC from 2009 destroys the ps4 and xbox one and can run games like crisis, bf4, cod, and many others at 1080p 60fps and beyond. A pc game can run at resolutions much higher than 1080p which consoles are stuck at currently. As usual there is no way in hell a ps4 game will look better than a pc game running above 1080p. What people dont understand is that to make games these complex you usually have to write some hardware level code to make it optimized and push it to its max. With PCs thats retarded hard since there is so much hardware out there. Knowing your hardware's architecture makes it extremely easy to write for and optimize. Its much easier and smart to target a single platform with a large audience than several with small audiences (which collectively create the PC gamers)

I'll give you a hint: no specific hardware is targeted on PC for games. There is this little thing called DirectX, that does all the work for the developer. All they have to do is decide how detailed the texture assets should be and other factors that can determine what video cards can handle it, not actually program FOR specific video cards.

I suggest you download a game engine such as Unity, Unreal 4, or Cryengine to see what I am talking about. No special code is used for specific video cards.

PCs: Keep evolving and changing with the latest enhancements in graphics, CPU, memory, and storage technology.

Consoles: Are locked in with a technology at the start of the generation.

For the first 6 months to 1 year of consoles they are usually capable of exceeding PCs. But, after that they fall behind and the latest PCs exceed console capabilities. There is no secret sauce in consoles that only consoles hold. In fact, console vendors use mostly the same components as PCs now.

Regardless if Kingdom is graphically-maxed with PC or not, it was the developers that chose the game to be this way, or were paid to focus on the PS4 version out of strategy and I'm not being biased, hear me out. I'm not leaning towards who's better because games are games, I love them all, I'm just stating simple truths, as I like to keep it simple personally and Kingdom (like most games) are developed on PC, so be open minded here.

However, I will say that PC's use Graphical Settings (for people who want maxed out graphics, or have older PC's) that can range from 480p to 4000k resolution that is purely your choice and will be unheard of in the console market for years to come. PC's can range from Anti-Aliasing x32 to Zero Anti-Aliasing, MSAA x8 etc. there's no such thing as a "Max" on PC, it's uncapped and forever upgrade-able. So, when random people say that the developer has limited a game based off of some "majority" from people with low end PC's, they are not only flat-out uneducated on PC gaming, but their logic falls short when all PC Games Graphics are customizable and considering we have had games for years that surpass the so called "Next-gen" of today, especially with hardware.. there is simply no argument as to what SONY and this developer is strategizing here. Truth is truth.. it's not a battle of who's gaming shlong is bigger, I enjoy all games. Relax. This is clearly marketing strategies at it's best, no need for kicking and screaming on either side.
