The more I see, the less I'm willing to pay 60 bucks for this game.

The focus seems to be the combat, but still there is no impact at all on the hits. I wonder if the enemies are actually dying from the tickling the hits are doing on them.

The AI seems terrible too. The "action" is very close to a turn-based game: I attack, you wait. You attack, I wait.

The combat designer of this game needs another profession.

SamPao3666d ago

Hm I would wait till you play it to say that it seems that there is no impact.
But I agree that they seem to focus on combat wich I think is only positive.

That turn-based stuff...is obviously only because he did not want to get hit and just show different attacks.
Looks very intuitive if ot works good.

Palitera3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Every gameplay trailer is showing that there is no impact. You hit the enemy and you only know you did it because its health go 10% down. (The stealth kill pretty much proves that the hit detection is not tied to the animation)

Seems like a borefest to me.

Okay if you like it. I foresee a 62 Metacritic score.

vishmarx3666d ago

i have to agree with the no impact thing.
slicing butter has more weight to it

AsimLeonheart3666d ago

The game may be lacking in certain departments but being turn-based is not one of them. Turn-based is just one of the kinds of the RPG genre. Turn-based games are strategic just like a game of chess. The player has to anticipate the enemies action and take appropriate measures. Real-time battle systems may be "realistic" but they often devolve in to mindless button mashing and hacking/slashing.

nix3666d ago

Demon's/Dark Souls series says hello.

i know most of the hack/slash games are mindless button smashing but if done right, it can be an awesome experience. but this game isn't impressive at all.

AsimLeonheart3666d ago

@nix

That is why I said "often". The souls series is one such exception where real time battle system is excellent.

Ozmoses3663d ago

also none of us know what the difficulty levels are like...

for the purposes of the demo they probably played it on the easiest difficulty.

It's $49.99 but is released between MLB The Show and Watch Dogs.

I'll still probably grab it up either way though.

candy_mafia3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

@Palitera

The game looks ok, and there ain't many RPG's on PS4 at present, so it may do well, but dude...

Do you ever have anything positive to state at all?

I read your 'comment history' and all I see is negativity since you joined N4G in January 2014.

Cheer the hell up ;/

Palitera3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Well, to me, the industry is mostly sucking big time recently. Also what is talked about is not exactly what I do like or even expect to be good.

What do I think is really great?
Trine 2 on PS4, Don't Starve, Resogun, Dark Souls 2, Dying Light, probably The Witcher 3 and Watch Dogs, maybe the new Batman, kind of Dead Rising 3, PS4 living room streamings, Destiny, solid performance, PS+ (and US catching up!)...

What I think is bollocks:
Deep Down, Titanfall, graphics downgrades, PS Now, the shiny PS4 corridor shooter, free to play, ESO, half a dozen good games to play on the new machines, GTA V. Shooters Shooters Shooters Shooters. And, above everything, console and flame wars.

So, basically, what you guys do like the most to post and talk about is exactly what I think are or will be great flops and sometimes even bad for the industry.

So I agree with you. I keep my points, but know that the current state of gaming is not looking good to me.

Out of bubbles, so... edit: As said, I recognize you're right about it. I'll find a way to cheer the hell up. lol

MeLoveRamen3666d ago

Palitera it has only been 4 months since both next gen consoles released and for that little of time you have a lot of games to play. Deep down looks like its gonna be a great game, the only graphic downgrade that i know of is watch dogs, Ps now looks very interesting especially if it works good, What shiny ps4 corridor shooter are you talking about, free to play can be great if done right, and there aren't many shooters coming out this year.

candy_mafia3666d ago

Wow! I totally didn't expect that!

You're like so honest about it, and you were polite in your reply too!

Lol wow, cool :)

Tdmd3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

I was going to make the same coment. Well, almost. I haven't seen any other videos for this game, but the lack of impact animation completely killed the combat for me. I think/hope they've shown this too soon. Maybe they are still working on those animations... it has potential to be another Amalur, combat wise, IF they fix it.

It doesen't blow my mind to pay 60 bucks for this game so i will wait. The combat seems flat and funky and same attacks over and over again... and what is going on with that slow mo ?. Its disturbing

Tex1173666d ago

Same...It doesn't look bad by any means, but 60 bucks? Not sure about that.

Baka-akaB3666d ago

Feel like a successor to Amalur , nothing truly exciting , but decent enough . At least this one wont be released alongside too many juggernauts so got a fair chance at selling

Palitera3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Amalur had excellent combat. It has big flaws, but that "old" game core gameplay destroys this one's, which is pretty much the opposite.

Baka-akaB3666d ago

Not disputing that ... but ultimately , for many it wasnt a really excisting title . I got the same vibe , regardless of gameplay differences , that's all

SageShinigami3666d ago

Having seen this video...uhhhh....hell no. Amalur's combat was far superior to this.
