Nice..I'm sure its coming next month. The team is doing a great job with the updates. They are a lot more robust and frequent than they were on xbx 360. Great job.

DanielGearSolid3674d ago

Next month? If they cam get it done that quickly, I'll tip my imaginary hat

Volkama3674d ago

I would think they are talking about it now because it is indeed coming next month. It has been planned since before the console came out though, so it's not that quick a turnaround.

The updates are good. I hope 3D blu-ray playback isn't far off.

andrewsqual3674d ago

@truefan1 2TB with a Microsoft enclosure lol = €400.
And this is just referencing the almighty Xbox 360 when the 120gb hard drive launched at the end of 2007 for €180/$180. Since Xbone apparently does everything worse than 360 did, you just have to assume the worst.

Docknoss3674d ago

It's amazing how much momentum the Xbox One is building.

Hopefully they allow any HDD to be used and large sized ones too.

christocolus3674d ago

I think they will, they are going to try their best to be as open as possible. That's what fans want.

TheBrit3674d ago

There was an article a couple of weeks ago about this. I forget who it was at Microsoft that referenced it but they said most will be supported.

Due to slight differences in hard drives and their specs they can't all be supported but they will release a list of which hard drives you can buy from places like Amazon etc.

AnimeFreak0133674d ago

I agree I'm so happy that they are working to update the system so users can able to use internal HDD as I already have used 200 GB with updates and games I have on system. I'm also freaking excited that Phil spencer is the head of Of MS now cause he luvs games and understands that gamers and games should come first then everything else. I can say now people get the X1 and it's worth every penny as the console keeps on getting better every month with updates and games coming out 4 it. Btw I also own a PS4 and while I'm enjoying it's exclusives like infamous SS KZSF resogon and many more I can't help but think sony isn't doing a good enough job updating and adding features to the console like MS with X1. Anyway can't wait 4 E3 I really think this E3 will be the best yet with games being announce and surprises that all 3 sony MS Nintendo will shows us this E3.

Gamer19823674d ago

They said external game storage has been coming before the console was released we knew this already.. Am I the only one though who thinks the delay is because they are trying to make it proprietary like the old hard drives? As they always try to lock out 3rd partys from the hardware side of things.

LexHazard793674d ago

You can use 3rd party external drives on Xbox 360 I dont know why that would change. They also offered their own aswell! I just hope they allow you up to 4tb externals.

Rocky53674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

This gen they use NTFS partitions with no encryption (didn't need to since its not removable)

So the external drives will use NTFS, but with encryption so people can't just stick there HDD in there PC & start snooping about.

Last thing we need is save hacking on the Xbox one.

(I can dream that some games will allow modding. Minecraft especially as I want my redstone world ported over.)

Joey_Leone3674d ago

I'll admit, they're doing a better job updating everything unlike Sony.

dirkdady3674d ago

How quick gamers are to forgive Microsoft with one wink and a smile... We really are all sheep.

ramiuk13674d ago

great news and im a ps4 gamer.
if MS brough external HD and mkv support then it might make me get one

All you have is their promises to go on. I envy your ignorance.

Trekster_Gamer3674d ago

In your obviously jaded opinion. I think no matter what they do you will find reason to troll and hate on them.

Sheikh Yerbouti3674d ago

Like all of last gen...Microsoft usually waits for E3 and the holiday season to show its cards. Sony will have its hand entirely on the table come E3.

Stay tuned.

kreate3674d ago

Good. Bring on the external storage. Better be a storage of my choosing. And not chosen for me.

BillySpandex3674d ago

That was my issue as well, at least give me the option to choose the storage of MY choosing. Let me use my flashdrive or let me use my 2Tb external harddrive

ezop3674d ago

your joking aren't you, it will be an external M$ branded HDD in different sizes of TB, there not going to miss out on making more money. I would also suspect the HDD format wont be NTFS like windows it's more like a new format something like NTFSXB1 which they wouldn't release to the public for security reasons.

OpieWinston3674d ago

We get it you're blind and didn't own a 360.
Also "M$" What are you 12 years old? GTFO kid.

andrewsqual3674d ago

I think the biggest thing that people don't realise is that this is probably the case. They need to make back up the millions they planned on making on the whole "you don't own the games you buy for the console" thing.
People with Xbones still accept Play n Charge kits and paying for basic online play on 360. Why wouldn't they attempt to get away with this again too?

Deadpoolio3674d ago

And what the mental midgets probably don't understand is that not only will it probably be a MS branded HDD...You wont be able to play games from it, just storage...If they allow any HDD it will have to be formatted by the Xbox and will not be compatible with anything else after that. They aren't that stupid, a 5 year old with autism could manage to realize that would just lead to piracy

Geoff9003674d ago

They have already stated that you will be able to use any standard HDD, although it will have to be compatible e.g. fast enough data transfer.

Oh and MS haven't stopped people from using any flash drive have they? they just have to be compatible with the Xbox 360.

ezop3674d ago

@OpieWinston I do own 2x360 (original & slim) and I remember when you had to buy separate HDD if you filled it up 20, 60, 120 or 250 GB in the old model (probably before your time) even the slim had 2 HD's 250 or 320 GB. As for the M$ comment no I'm not 12 I am 40 (yep and still gaming).

@Geoff900 your right Penello said to a fan on Twitter. "The intention is to be open…" but you have to read the wording until its official "INTENTION" does not mean you can use your own HDD, as for flash drives on the 360 you can only use 32GB of storage no matter if you put in a 500GB flash drive, 1TB flash drive.

LexHazard793674d ago

@andrew,

Hows that DS4 treating you btw? Altho its very nice I hear it has crappy battery life!

Also why you so worried about how people spend their hard earned money(the ones that do grind for a living)! I rather rechargeable energizers(which last me 2 weeks or more depending on usage) than using Play and charge kit or integrated battery!

Another complaint about paying for XBL!
$5 a month! Lol....

Sheikh Yerbouti3674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

@BackPain...

Everything Andrew said is true. Paying for online worked so well, Sony is doing it. Sony is also the King of Proprietary Media. Thank god they aren't with their console HDD, but I don't buy anything that takes a Memory Stick (i.e., Vita or PSP)

Neither of these companies deserve that much devotion. They just want your money anyway.

I must admit, that is great news for xb1 present and future owners. I am running out of space on my ps3 hdd, when i eventually get ps4 i would like to have as much saving space as possible. so ext. hdd for x is awesome news. i wonder if it'll let you save gamefiles on it, unlike ps3.

No_Limit3674d ago

The new direction that the XB team has taken and continuing listening to their fans is great. Can't wait for the external HDD support.

AnteCash3674d ago

Since you can't replace the hdd without canceling the warranty , External hdd is your only option.

3674d ago
Geoff9003674d ago

In some ways it's better, because once the HDD is full you just stick another one in, although yes you can delete your games it does make some sense.

sak5003674d ago

@ante

How many updates has ps4 received? It's the same crappy ps3 interface from 6 years back. As a matter of face xbone has received more major updates than ps3 in it's lifecycle. Your achiev... sorry trophies are updating realtime nowadays or still takes sometime like ps3 days?

Whitey2k3674d ago

Fanboy comment u make me laugh no matter how muxh ms F*cks you over u silly fanboys run back to it

razrye3674d ago

Obviously you are a lil troll. The ps4 has a different ui than the ps3. Terrible attempt at trolling. The ps4 is the most powerful gaming console in the world and that is a fact.

Mixer Won't Just Become Facebook Gaming on Console, Xbox Executive

In a Reddit post, Xbox's Larry Major Nelson Hyrb said that mixer won't just change to Facebook Gaming on Console.

If I was Facebook I would drop the branding as it is now associated with a failed streaming service.

exputers1400d ago

What do you think, why would Facebook partner up? They must be failing badly too lol

Stanjara1400d ago

While Mixer failed and didn't see any growth (or better, their traffic was going down), Facebook's gaming division (or whatever) was going up due to Oculus or chat or mobile gaming. More traffic on service, more ad revenue.
Increasing traffic also means that you have to go where there is traffic or where people are.
Since Facebook has money, and Mixer has money they went together to see potential growth.
Facebook goes for gaming because they have billions of people, who some of them are gamers, but they game on other platforms.
At this stage what ever they do they will se growth, but not from hc gamers or gamers in general, but from every day Joes who heard that fifa, gta and cod exists.

In other words, who cares :p

SpaceRanger1400d ago

Two companies that have been scrutinized for data collection practices, Facebook being the worst of the two. This is a partnership MS should have stayed away from.

Ausbo1399d ago

That was really the only option. Couldn’t have gone to YouTube because stadia would conflict with xcloud plans. Couldn’t go with twitch because amazon will be releasing their own answer to the streaming Wars.

The only other option was to not partner with anyone. If they did that, they’d be leaving their streamers high and dry. At least with Facebook they are offering partner status to those who had it in mixer and sign on bonuses

SpaceRanger1399d ago

It would have been way cheaper to just buy out people with sign on bonuses. The partnership with Facebook was probably expensive and will further tarnish their branding in the streaming space. Especially with so many companies boycotting Facebook right now.

And the likelihood of Facebook being integrated into the XSX at some point is super high now. Not sure anyone would want that.

MS can’t catch a break this gen when it comes to partnerships.

Ausbo1399d ago

The partnership is more about a gateway to xcloud. They want to push that to as many people as possible. They wanted mixer to be that, but it failed to gain traction.

This was more about xcloud than anything

Sunny_D1400d ago

I don’t know. His wording was cleverly typed. It feels like he’s saying it won’t be integrated for now.... Or get built into the OS someway or another.

RazzerRedux1400d ago

Sounds like this was all just a way to kill off Mixer and endorse an alternative that isn't Twitch or Youtube.

ColdSin1399d ago (Edited 1399d ago )

I think you are right. Amazon seems to have a game streaming service up their sleave and want it to go along with Twitch (click-and-play stuff). The same is true for Google with their Stadia streaming service.
