God of War represents the beginning of a new era for Sony as a first party publisher.
Now that Death Stranding has landed on iOS, here are five other PS4-era blockbusters that we'd love to have to play on our iPhones at any time.
Like the film or television industry, the world of gaming has seen its fair share of reboots over the years. While some of these video game reboots have had
What if we told you that the future of the God of War franchise might just lie in the hands of Kratos’ young son, Atreus?
Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
If only they could become a third party publisher and release it on a platform that can run it properly. I know, I know it is still a great game at 30fps.. But here is the thing. A game at 30 fps on PC is considered unplayable. Gamers are acting happy with it because it is all they can have, but the game can be so much better.
Is it really that big a step up from some of the great games they’ve already released? I’m going to get it myself, but Sony has published some fantastic games lately.
“Sony’s investment in first party games truly started in the PS3 era,”
How many uniformed journalists are there making this baseless claim? That kind of statement makes then instantly uncredible. Sony has had awesome first party support on PS1, PS2 & PSP. It didn’t just happen out of nowhere on PS3.
“Back when they were soliciting third parties to develop for the original PlayStation, one of the many ways Sony sweetened the pot for them (in addition to using CDs, providing them with a powerful but easy to develop for console, and having low royalty rates) was via an implicit assurance that unlike on Sega’s and especially Nintendo’s platforms, third parties would not have to compete with very many Sony games on their console.”
Except Sony’s first party support was great on PS1 as well as PS2 along with PSP. No hardware manufacturer would intentionally not make strong first party titles just to entice more third party support on their platform. Both types of support can easily thrive on a platform.
That kind of weird logic would mean third parties now wouldn’t want to release their games on PS4 & Switch because of the over abundance of first party titles from Sony & Nintendo on the respective platforms.
