Final Fantasy Versus XIII Was A Troubled Project In 2012, Square Enix Planned To Cancel It - Tabata

Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata recently talked about his role in the development of Final Fantasy XV and when he took charge of the project.

Tetsuya Nomura Final Fantasy game would it be the best FF, look at the list of games Tetsuya and Tabata have work on, best FF games were made by Tetsuya and worst, mediocre or average by Tabata. The probably only good thing I can say about FF XV is that the game was actually released, but man the game felt so incomplete, imo there are CERO! memorable moments in FF XV.

Yeah, it's a shame that Versus XIII never saw the light of day. The concept of the FNC was great, but the project was too ambitious. To me FFXV will always be "the FF that could have been".

To think this spinoff was the main FNC of XIII. Its too bad that XIII was more complete than Versus would've ever been because of a chain of events that took place in Square's management. Nomura and Nojima had created something way beyond that of a spinoff, PS3 tech was not cutting it back then as this was too ambitious and now were stuck with the mediocre XV Universe which is lacking. I guess good sales mean better FF moving forward?

I like to think we haven't seen the end of this concept. Script was complete, the setup for a Versus is there and the never ending talk about this topic with new rumors coming out continues. Also it was said that Versus had so many unused assets that would = a full game. What does everyone think?

They should've done so. FFXV aka FF XIII VS is empty and most uninspired FF game EVER!!! I cant believe they released such an unfinished game, SE really dropped the ball this time. If you thought FFXIII was bad and didnt make sense, think again...

Bought this game day one and never loathed a FF game more than this one. Felt like I was playing cosplayers that got lost on their way to Comic con.

I'm playing it now, after all the major updates, and it feels so...meh. I'm enjoying the gameplay cause it's similar to Kingdom Hearts and that's what's keeping me going, but the storyline is boring. I mean, I started the game, and then all of a sudden I'm pushing a car with 4 boy band members making cringey jokes 90% of the time.

I'm just thinking about how great the previous FF games started. FFIX? Awesome.

Well 4 boys with one of best gameplay mechanics got lost is million years better than, Lesbians and weird characters get tattoo by machine (presented as higher realem beings) give them missions that never stop until you become freak or crystal + Lightning act like she had alot of things as example tje gravity whatever but we didn't see that ever except in the very beggining + canceling the great 2007 gameplay. FFXIII far worst than FFXV.

There's no competition here, FFXV was worse than FFXIII, and FFXIII wasn't even that great of a game, it's story and characters make it head and shoulders better than 15. 15 just has a little bit of story in the beginning and the end with nothing really in the middle except for a group of men derping about in the desert.
