Playerunknown's Battlegrounds is a massive hit on the PC, but will the game survive on the console market?

I think this will be like rainbow 6, start as a slow burner but through word of mouth and posted clips it will end up big. I'm looking forward to it. Looks like it has that rocket league feel, just one more game, 3 hours later, just one more game.

I agree. My most anticipated game probably. Hell, I've just been constantly watching Youtubers/Twitch folks play the game, and have been saying "Just one more video..just one more".

So, It will definitely happen when playing...I hope.

I agree and disagree with the points the author brings up.

He says that it's coming in the Fall, around the same window as Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, and CoD WW2 (so many 2's), so it's launching in the thick of a bunch of other super hyped titles (something that Titanfall 2 did last year). I agree that may be a problem, but they're also different games for different audiences, so it still has the potential for a strong release

Yeah, I really don't get that point he's trying to make. Different types of games. And why can't you have multiple games? It's like we all will only be able to choose 1 or something....

Because the majority of gamers will choose Call of freaking duty and obviously Star Wars Battlefront 2 not because is going to be an amazing game but because is Star Wars. Titanfall 2 was a first person robot shooter that did not sold a lot despite offering free dlc, zero microtransanctions, single player campaign and was beaten by Call of Duty wow!

@agent4532 But Duty and Titanfall are very similar. There isnt anything else like PUBG on console right now...thats the difference.(Titanfall 2 was really good by the way...way better than the first one, and that awful Infinite Warfare)

Yea that's like saying destiny 2 won't thrive because it releases around battlefront time and battlefront won't thrive because it releases around destiny time. So it's a circle.

This is the perfect January or summer game, clear of any AAA 3r party giants destroying everything in sight during their release window. I hope this game comes out on ps4 next summer.

That said this game is addictive as hell from what I saw on youtube and played at a friend's house, you guys are gonna have some great times with this one.

Hell yeah, sounds great.
And yeah, I agree in general, releasing then wouldnt hurt. But I think just to get it out on the Xbox Preview as quick as possible, to get as many people playing(and improving) the game, is what's needed. So even if sales arent crazy at first, its still getting more people to improve the game...and then months later, it will keep getting more and more folks

The controls and inventory management (changing mods etc) needs to be nailed very early. Don't want to be stood still sat fighting with managing your invo for extended periods of time.

The translation from PC centric game to a console game. Are they going to add auto aim? How is inventory management going to work etc etc?

I cant wait to play this game. I watched a stream yesterday where a group of 4 worked as a team and ended up in some crazy firefights.

First point of the article is talking about a different game/studio's launch issues...so that point doesnt really make sense.
I actually don't think I agree with anything this article said.
Talking about other games coming out, around the same time. So?
I'm sure I'm nowhere near alone where PUBG will be a quicker/easier buy than Destiny 2, B. Front 2 and Duty(fug off Sledgehammer with your PC bull).
PUBG is DIFFERENT than what us Console gamers have been getting. It's simply APPEALING.

I've put about 120 hours into this game on PC I can't wait for it to come to Xbox so I can get all my mates playing it as well
Only thing they need to get the inventory management system right but I'm confident they will

The biggest issue this PC centric game will face is ...going to consoles. Going to controller use vs M and KB use.

Are they going to add auto aim? How smooth and fast is the inventory management going to be? Things like this should more of a concern then what this article brings up.

Frday the 13th looked a mess of a game from the start and was not backed by a major company like MS making sure the game comes out in a playable condition.

As far as when its launched....that shouldnt be a problem as this is not a new IP. Its a HUGE PC game that has sold 4 million in early access. So there is already a HUGE audience on console who know about the game.

And the biggest reason it should succeed ....there is NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! I mean NOTHING like this game on consoles at the moment.

I'm sorry but the majority of his points are wrong.

1) Friday the 13th was a Budget game made by an indy team on PC who like No man Sky saw the $ sign.
Instead of focusing on a great PC version they decide to make 3 incomplete version of the game (let's remember that the delay was for a single player experience that is yet made at the moment).

Now PUBG on the otherhand is running at the moment on PC, not Xbox, not PS4 and only the Xbox version will be released this year (expect Ps4 next year) giving them time to perfect the game.

2) the Game will be price accordingly and not like an AAA game (like Friday who's still an early access game that should have been released at 20$)

This game will be huge on Xbox too. Its the first battle royale on the System and Xbox Players are all about multiplayer. Beeing the last man standing out of 100 is FREAKING awesome. With all the hype right now, I cant see it slowing down. Heck, 4 Million in 3 months on PC is insane.

Personally I think the game will do fine on Xbox as long as it releases away from any other well known games. I feel that the lesser known titles get overshadowed and die quick on Xbox. I'm no psychic and it's just a opinion on my personal experiences, but my only metric for this is my friends list. The free to plays, and obscure titles never show up on my friends list on my Xbox. The call of duties, Halos, and Forzas rule. As long as no big names come out AND the budget price the game, AND they advertise it like a AAA will it get somewhere. I just don't see people taking risk on "unknowns" on Xbox.

That's your valid opinion that you are more than entitled to, however my opinion is that gamers recognise a good game regardless of what platform it is released on. I own it on PC but will buy it on console when it is released, simply because most of my gamer buddies are on console.
