Splitscreen action needs to make a comeback.
Alone in the Dark developer Pieces Interactive has been hit with layoffs a month after its release, as per the latest information.
That genuinely, genuinely sucks. The reboot has clear flaws, but it really felt like a solid first step for this team to receive *greater* investment.
Shenmue: Reclaiming the Path is a fan game using Dreamcast-era visuals, and tells a new story within the Shenmue saga taking place in both Hong Kong and Guilin. Its expected to release on September 16th.
Something about recreating old school graphics in an era of HD high poly photo realism just hits a spot. I'm not nostalgic cause I mostly played GameCube and GB/A, but it's a visual style that gets over looked even by indies.
Definitely a fan project. Terrible hand animations. Some characters have very bad body proportions. Some look like little kids in adult bodies. Some have short arms, small head, big hips and so on.
While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.
Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.
It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny
Armored Core VI?
Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.
Is something big coming soon to branch the story?
No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
Why did SC die? Because in devs minds SC means less copies sold; in platform holders it means less online subscriptions.
Its a win-win for them.
i know people like to demonize developers for this stuff but look at reality. split screen gameplay was the ONLY way possible to play "multiplayer" back in the day. Technology changes and so do peoples habits and how they utilize things . Its a natural evolution. Yes developers need to make money and sell as many copies as possible, but the more effective way to do this is by following demographic trends, and those trends all point to online play. surveys about this stuff and qc and user testing all go into game dev, and if the majority of people wanted split screen or whatever, it would be addressed.
These days most people that have a current gen console are also very likely to have a broadband internet connection and a subscription to the console network of choice... so.. play with one friend that has to come over to your house, or play with 2-32 other people including your friends from the comfort of your own home. i dunno about you guys, but after a long day of work and also being married, the last thing thats gonna happen is me driving across town to play my friend at a game - especially when i could just go into another room instead.
the internet changed things guys. socializing, sharing, gaming. its all affected. nobody uses pay phones anymore, nobody uses a telephone operator and no one has to visit a physical store to buy whatever they want. i don't see how this is any different. why do we still use optical media for that matter?? its the slowest, most inefficient and unreliable way to store and load data.
Its not , plus I rather not share my TV screen & my mates can eat their own food , destroy their controllers from the comfort of their own homes .
I hope it does, it sucks more and more games are dropping this as nothing it better than playing with your friends in the same room together.
Wtf? There are so many local multiplayer games right now. Do your damn research.
