Worst conference in the history of conferences. I actually feel sorry for Nintendo. Sad day for gaming.

hirobrotagonist2656d ago

are you fucking serious? I haven't been a big nintendo fan in years and I think the system has a ton of promise and a lot of great looking games coming out.

Aenea2656d ago

True, it has potential, but the conference itself was cringeworthy, yikes!

maybelovehate2656d ago

Very serious, sadly. Was kind of getting excited but I should have known better. Very disappointed. Still want Zelda even though the graphics look very outdated but not sure I will buy a system just for 1 game.

conanlifts2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

Yes but the conference had no info. Only 3 games announced for launch and a couple teased for later this year. Terrible conference lacking information. A console would usually launch with at least a dozen games. They confirmed 3 and it releases i approximately 7 weeks .

The positive..the joy con looks great and xenoblade 2 looks good.

Negative....no actual information. Just teasers on games that don't even have footage or have only just stated development.

I would love to order switch but for that i need games and release dates. Especially for launch.

81BX2656d ago

Doesnt change the fact that the conference sucked

Omnislashver362656d ago

I'm definitely interested. Yeah, graphics could be a bit better(I think it's worth $250 personally) but hell yes I'm in. I'm waiting for more games to be released though.

_-EDMIX-_2656d ago

I think they did a good job in regards to the things they announced but I felt Lots of some of the side stuff was sort of cringe worthy and very cheesy.

I thought they spent a lot of time talking about unnecessary things that could have actually just been showing some of their games I'm actually really surprised that Mario Kart 8 didn't get a little more time

Lonnie182656d ago

Yes but does Nintendo deserve a second change after what thwy did with the Wii U? These games are all titles that were gonna release on the Wii U anyway but shifted just like Zelda....so sad!

mikeslemonade2656d ago

Now that looks like a 9.6 not overrated mario galaxy

XisThatKid2656d ago

IMHO this was the worst thing I seen or at least the least interesting to me of the con. This game looks like form this trailer like a Sonic game I envisioned when about 10 years ago.

SierraGuy2656d ago

This game alone will sell the Switch.

PurpHerbison2656d ago

Everything has potential, hell the WiiU had potential, but this is Nintendo we are talking about.

The games minus the weird party stuff looked good, i do admit the acting was cheesy and the translation should have been better. Odyssey later this year & Zelda day 1 is great.

Zeldafan642656d ago

That new Zelda trailer was amazing. The story looks like it will be far more in depth than anything we've ever seen in the series.

Summons752656d ago

Yeah...so bad they announced great game after great game, those jerks. /S

The only bad part of the presentation was EA other then that you must hate everything and enjoy nothing.

maybelovehate2656d ago

Maybe we saw different conferences.

Summons752656d ago

Clearly, you were watching a brick wall...the rest of us watched Nintendo take the world by storm.

Darkfist_Flames2656d ago

like paid online service? i thought you fanboys said that nintendo will never do that xD

Summons752656d ago

@Darkfist_Flames

Please continue to act like PS4 and XBONE haven't done that for a generation and a half to three whole generations. Online costs $$$ you want good online....guess what entitled kid, you need to get a job.

badz1492656d ago

Nintendo take the world by storm?!

LOL

Erik73572656d ago

Haven't had a Nintendo console since the gamecube and I want one as well. Mario and zelda looked better than anything ps4/xbox one have or has had for a game

FunAndGun2656d ago

To each his/her own, but lol.

Erik73572656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

Nintendo:

"Hey look we don't show shitty cgi trailers and we actually show demos and 3 minute gameplay trailers for our games because we know they aren't dogshit like Sony's and Microsoft's"

Seriously, Sony and Microsoft has more hype in their conference and less substance. You very rarely see people show demos of their games at conferences now a days and you just see stupid trailers of games that end up being like a 70 on metacritic.

Literally almost every game from Microsoft and Sony that wasn't bloodborne or Uncharted has been below a 80....terrible games overall.

ABizzel12656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

@Maybelovehate

Worst conference No.

A lot of cringeworthy moments Yes.

It felt more like a second reveal, when they needed a full media blowout. The system launches in less than 2 months and they pretty much just confirmed 2 launch titles.

The system has a ton of potential, but that $299 price is going to be off-putting to just about every traditional Nintendo handheld gamer, and they still have a lot of proving to do for the fans who felt burned by their consoles.

I think they've done some good here, but this wasn't the perfect messaging they needed.

1. It should have been $50 less, but Nintendo wants to make a profit Day 1 ($100 if it's using Tegra X1 not X2/P1).
2. They should have revealed all launch titles and launch window (hopefully that last demo reel is launch stuff)
3. Charging for online is going to upset a lot of Nintendo fans since this is their first time paying (PS+ / G4G)
4. They needed more western 3rd party devs on stage.
5. At least show planned Virtual Console support from NES - GameCube and GB - 3DS
6. Best of Wii U ports

There were a lot of missed opportunities here.

The Switch looks like it'll be a hit in Japan especially with it being portable, having Nintendo's amazing first party all dedicated to 1 device, and the impressive 3rd party support (especially all those Dragon Quest games).

But at $299 (kiss kid's handheld goodbye), western support looking meh (Skyrim and Fifa are a start), and adding another subscription service to our gaming is going to make Switch a hard sale in the west.

I think core gamers will be excited by the Switch, especially when more software comes out. But I don't think it's going to be the casual and kid friendly hit they're hoping for.

But Zelda, Mario, and Xenoblade 2 look amazing.

maybelovehate2656d ago

I am still not even sure what they intend the Switch to be. Is it replacing the Wii U? Graphics are really bad. I guess if they are strictly aiming for the handheld market it is interesting, but the battery life kills any chances of really using it for that. Weird product to be honest.

EddieNX 2656d ago

Were here to talk about the Mario game and it looks amazing. Be gone hater. Switch looks amazing if you ask me considering its portable, I'm pre ordering one asap!!!

maybelovehate2656d ago

True, my comment was a bit off topic. Just came here to talk about the conference and it was the only item I saw on my list. It was part of the conference though. I hope you enjoy it.

TalesofEvil2656d ago

Troll much? or maybe attention seeker?

_-EDMIX-_2656d ago

Lol

I think they actually did a pretty good job I would never say it's the worst conference it's literally exactly what I kind of expected it to be announcements of games that I sort of expected by specific Publishers that I definitely expected, I knew that it was likely you're going to see Sega Ubisoft and square and I even had a feeling it would be something like shin Megami tensei and something akin to Bravely Default.

This is the typical support they got from their handheld and I'm not surprised that this is the support you're seeing for this device.

I'm not at all even slightly shocked that they did not get major support by specific third-party Partners in regards to PlayStation 4 or Xbox one level intellectual properties.

I feel for the most part they're going to treat this no different than they treated Nintendo's previous handhelds

EddieNX 2656d ago

This ∆ third party exclusives like the 3ds will do just fine. It well get western games we will just have to wait and see.Steep is interesting considering its a good looking game. As multiplats are announced, hopefully they get announced for Switch Assassins creed, COD etc

_-EDMIX-_2656d ago

@eddie- I just don't see that happening simply because if there was ever a great marketing opportunity to announce a version of your game coming to switch it would actually have been tonight.

Everything that I saw tonight is telling me that the majority of third parties are not bringing over their PlayStation 4 and Xbox One intellectual properties over to the switch.

There's a very good reason why Skyrim was shown and not Fallout 4 or Doom.

The fact that we're seeing a No More Heroes game as opposed to Watch Dogs 2 or even any of the previous Assassin's Creeds even in some sort of bundle tells me it is probably very likely they have no intentions of bringing those properties over to this platform.

I'm getting the feeling that the support this platform is going to receive is going to be largely exactly like the support the 3DS got.

I predicted shin Megami tensei was likely and I was correct
I predicted you would probably see Bravely Default but even though the title they announced is not Bravely Default it is very clear it is in the vein of those titles

I'm not at all shocked at the titles that were announced as I felt very deeply but that was more likely than major third parties bringing over their Triple-A titles from PlayStation 4 to Xbox one you have to consider that they're all still competing with each other I believe all of those companies would have saw a huge opportunity to announce a title coming to that platform just to get a leg up and for Activision Electronic Arts and Ubisoft to not announce any of their major Triple A's is a big deal.

This alone is telling me they don't have any plans to bring over their major franchises.

They are likely going to play it safe to see how the audience reacts to specific games because I don't really believe they're going to suddenly do a 180.

Darkwatchman2656d ago

That's fine and all, but during the live stream, Nintendo definitely said the switch was designed as a home console first and if it's designed as a home console first, that means you look at it as a home console, which is underpowered compared to all the competition and will have less third party support and all those third party games that do exist on it will look and run better on the competition. It's not a very exciting prospect as a home console.

Huguinho2656d ago

Sad day for gaming? Just because you didnt like a conference, seriously? What the hell did you expect, a hollywood crappy short movie? They showed the system and teased the games, what the heck were they supossed to do? They're a gaming company.

FloydianAndroid2656d ago

So you're a sony fanboy or microsoft?

Nintendo-or-Nothing2656d ago

Mario looks better then ever. I notice the improved graphics right away, almost has a sonic adventure feel. Cant wait.

andrewsquall2656d ago

So what happened to the VR?
You: "It will have VR on day one. You will see." http://n4g.com/comments/red... Lol, that's coming at the next Switch reveal?

What happened to the Switch being more powerful than the standard PS4???
You: "Its more powerful then the ps4. You will see." http://n4g.com/comments/red...

You sure talked up a lot of that "You will see." So when will we see???

Let me guess, you are just going to flip flop on all that now and say how none of that matters now because Mario DOES indeed look better then a last LAST gen Mario game (like on the original Wii when the last main release Mario game happened), how impressive, none of us saw that coming.

What do you think about PS4 Pro sales spiking worldwide this morning after the conference?

Quetzll2656d ago

Hey andrew, could you provide a source for "PS4 Pro sales spiking this morning after the conference"?

My Google skills seem to be lacking right now.

Thanks!
Quetz

andrewsquall2655d ago

So its "Nintendo-or-Nothing" ;? Well looks like you have NOTHING to say on the matter. You are like the Xbone fans who flip flopped when the Xbone actually did have a TV port on its motherboard. You know, the ones who said they would not buy an Xbone if that rumour was true and then when it did happen they made excuses like "well Forza 5 is going to be on it, that changes everything now" lol.
Console will be dead by this time next year (dead, in the same way the Wii U was dead on arrival, I doubt you look at the console like that though). You will see. ^_^

Day 1. Zelda looks insane! Also a new Mario game this year. It's worth it for that game alone.

vikingland12656d ago

My exact feelings, day one Zelda day one. Mario Odyssey a real successor to Mario 64.

SierraGuy2656d ago

It's too bad Microsoft now owns Rare...Killer Instinct would have been cool on Switch.

browngamer412656d ago

Same here, I was highly impressed with Mario and Zelda, both games look like fantastic new directions for their series. It felt like Nintendo has some of that old magic back, I could care less about what the haters on N4G think

Pearljam2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

What a joke boycott this garbage. This isn't 2007 that hardware is a joke just like all the gimmicks.

2656d ago
browngamer412656d ago

Huh? Did we watch the same conference? Mario looks beautiful and fun, as does Zelda, we can argue all day about that but I see what I see

peewee110162656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

Worst show in awhile... 3 games at launch
1,2 switch
ARMS <---- will launch in the fall lol So far 2
Zelda
OMG SOO COOl NOT
I will enjoy Zelda on my WII U no need for a switch till later on in the year..

Vegamyster2656d ago

Well i'm sure they're going to have more than that, they just showed off some of the bigger games and new stuff, you can only show so much in an hour.

81BX2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

What is bigger than the launch line up that is going to sell your system?

Vegamyster2656d ago

They clearly didn't have enough time to talk about everything in the presentation, lots of information is coming out right now regarding the system and more games.

conanlifts2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

I am very disappointed. Watched for an hour hoping for a decent list of launch games and at least vague specs. They didn't even list storage capacity of the switch.

_-EDMIX-_2656d ago

How many of those games are at launch? I was under the impression that the majority they showed would be launch like Splatoon and Mario?

conanlifts2656d ago (Edited 2656d ago )

_edmix_ only 2 at launch confirmed. Mario kart deluxe end of april. Splatoon 2 in summer, mario xmas time. Skyrim is fall time as well. Fifa later this year.
Xenoblade and others 2018.

But seriously only 2 at launch confirmed..zelda and 1, 2 switch. That's a joke and is worse so far than the Wii U at launch.

@vegamyster thanks.

JJShredder2656d ago

Looks great but should be a launch title.

Elda2656d ago

Agreed along with Zelda would give folks the more incentive to buy at launch that are not diehards.

Erik73572656d ago

I actually think it would best to be out for a few months then launch killer games. Let people see in store for a few months with the killer game Zelda and then launch some other killer games on it.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

The 7 Best Selling Switch Games of All Time

The Nintendo Switch has been an undeniable success for Nintendo, but which games make the best selling chart for the console?

GotGame81868d ago

Animal crossing came out the week the entire world shutdown. Yeah I bought it.

kevco3368d ago

Agreed. I think a lot of the AC: H sales have to do with early lockdown players!

I mean, I would've played it anyway. But I guess there's a lot of people who got into it because of the hype and their new found free time!

DivineHand12568d ago

Nintendo made out like bandits with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's the same game that was on the WiiU except they added 2 item boxes like in double dash.

kevco3368d ago

It's the Capcom method:

1. Add a new word to the end of the title and features that should've been expected first time around.
2. Charge full price for it.
3. Profit.

gold_drake67d ago

this is why i always say that Nintendo will always be fine. look at those numbers lol

and those are all first party games.
