Microsoft's 2017: momentum at last, and a golden opportunity

Xbox is no longer on the back foot, and for the first time in years has a strategic advantage over PlayStation. Will Scorpio turn the tables?

"Xbox is no longer on the back foot, and for the first time in years has a strategic advantage over PlayStation"

The PS4 sold more everywhere, had more games in 2016, has more games in 2017, had better conferences all year, won way more game of the year awards and launched a VR headset.

The answer to Xbox's problems isn't a more expensive system.

darthv722663d ago

Oh wise overlord...

what is the answer?

Overload2663d ago

Software. More specifically, developing internal talent, sticking with IP's that aren't pulling the biggest numbers to try to build it into something special like a franchise and don't handcuff teams to existing IP's forever.

This takes time and they should have started a long time ago.

nX2663d ago

Funny how I complained about all these issues with Microsoft six years ago and not much has changed since then. Either their board of directors or their user base is full of dude bros that only care about shooting and driving.

Overload2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

Everyone has been complaining about this issue about the Xbox division since minimum the last 3 years of the 360's life, when the PS3 had like 30 exclusives coming out and Xbox 360 had 2 or 3 the last few years.

Microsoft has boatloads of money (this has been brought up multiple times over the years) and never really invests into expanding the Xbox's first party, ever. What does that tell you?

Lonnie182663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

The answer is to be truthful to your fanbase day 1! I mean rrod last gen, orginally wanted online all the time this gen, cloud enhanced based gaming, shady 4k marketing ect ect...

@nX, maybe they need a game where thwy can shoot annd drive at the same time lol.

_-EDMIX-_2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

I agree with Overlord 100%

their answer is software.

They have internally very rarely created new intellectual properties for the most part if Microsoft supporting something new they likely either don't own the team or they don't own the property.

it's very rare that they actually got to spend money to create anything from the ground up from a team they own.

@lonn- I don't disagree with you what's so sad is the 360 was such a great platform that even with the red ring of death people continue to keep purchasing it because of its popularity and instead of growing this and supporting this new-found install base Microsoft basically went full-blown casual with Kinect and late into its life cycle simply just stopped supporting it.

Sony was losing the majority of that generation yet they were the ones that were creating new content year after year with their main teams.

In my personal opinion it technically should have been the reverse it should have been Microsoft that had the money to keep creating new intellectual properties and it should have been Sony that was playing it safe and only supporting established considering their financial situation.

Microsoft's problems are their own fault based on their own insecurities in fear of supporting in investing something new.

According to the media, xbox has momentum every single year. who remembers end 2015 marked the wake up of the brand with halo 5 and quantum break will confirm that.

Petty much what was written in the Eurogamer comments as well. It's rather ridiculously funny how out of touch journalists are when compared to gamers.

RpgSama2663d ago

Exactly, what momentum? There's no momentum, they called 2017 the year of the Scorpio and the Scorpio will release at the end of the year. Who writes this things?

leoms2663d ago

You should read their PS4 article. You won't beleive how negative it is to this article.

Deep-throat2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

The Scorpio will sting Sony once and for all.

Superior multiplats, superior network (Sony can't afford to do that), more real 4K and less checkerboarding BS, new games for the Xbox and Windows 10.

It will end Sony's dominations in other countries (except Japan).

Nyxus2663d ago

Can we hold you to that statement? Because I have serious doubts.

BlakHavoc2663d ago

This gen? Lol no way, this console war is over and it would take a complete reset in market share for MS to dominate at this point. They have a chance to gain some real momentum though. They kind of f***ed up though by allowing Sony to announce so many future titles while basically sitting on their hands focusing on Scorpio.

Majin-vegeta2663d ago

I also heard Sony didn't have enough money to build a more powerful console than MS at the end of last gen look how that turned out...lol.

objdadon2663d ago

Sorry, but it will not have "superior multiplats " due to the fact ps4 has the larger fanbase, the "no player left behind" bs, and the simple fact that Microsoft is not mandating 3rd party to do any improvements in particular. 1st party games like the usual halo, forza, gears should look exceptional though.

GTgamer2663d ago

Lmaoooooooooo this year will be fun

King_Lothric2663d ago

Be ready to put scorpio on the chalkboard

DarXyde2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

No, it won't. It really won't. As long as games perform fine on PS4 and Pro, there is no reason for the average (that is, where MOST consumers lie on a normal distribution) consumer to dump what I'm fairly certain will be $400+ on a console just to get games to run on the console equivalent to "Ultra High" settings.

And it's funny how checkerboard rendering has actually been praised where any loss in quality is quite negligible and here you call it BS.

You know what's grand? Sony apparently can't afford a better network, yet Microsoft, with their boundless resources and aggression, can't afford to step their software game up.

If you think Scorpio is going to somehow miraculously take away Sony's market domination just because it's more powerful than Pro, I think you'll be sorely disappointed. I said it before and I'll say it again: if people were THAT concerned about power, they'd invest in PC.

Given your reliably negative attitude towards Sony, I feel it'd be uncouth not to at least say "good luck with that", whether I'm being sincere or not so...

Good luck with that.

WickedLester2663d ago

And no one outside of the most die hard Xbox fans will give a shit. The Xbox fanbase has such a false sense of security. Globally, your brand is an insignificant nothing compared to PlayStation.

foxdie2k152663d ago

Well deep throat stop deep throating ang take the microsoft dick out your mouth and face reality xbox and scorpio have no games what so ever and i own both systems all i have for xbox 1 is gears series and halo becuz it came with the system which ive played 30 minutes of it and never again and dead rising 4 and dead rising 3 thats it no games no use for a powerful system to show it off on

rainslacker2663d ago

Your comment is strangely reminiscent of all the other things this gen that were supposedly going to crush Sony and put MS on top.

Can't wait to see what comes after Scorpio to be the next big thing to look forward to.

UCForce2663d ago

Always being cocky, huh ? This is why I hate people like you. Disrespectful to your competitors is not my thing.

notachance2663d ago

IN OTHER COUNTRIES?
I'm just gonna copy paste my comments on other threads:

"yeah, add to that MS focused more on multiplayer games rather than high quality single player games, out here XBL is a barren wasteland, NONE of our friends on it so why would we want to buy a console focused on multiplayer?

It's actually a stupid decision to buy XB1 in my regions:
- there's simply no one to play with
- official support barely exists
- pretty much all of console owners is a single player gamers, we rarely use it for multiplayer games even on PS4, WE USE PC FOR THAT
- as unbelievable as it is for americans, there are a lot more PC players here than console owners, the multiplayer scene on PC absolutely, absolutely trumps both PS4 and XB1 combined

tl;dr if XB1 want to have even a slight chance of fighting here, release a consistent batch of high quality single player games, preferably on par with TLoU... oh and 'niche' genre is more popular here than bro dude shooters, so yeah, like I said it's simply stupid decision for people here to buy XB1"

XanderZane2663d ago

You wish, but it won't. IF Microsoft acquired some of the major developers, they would have a better chance of selling more units as they would have more exclusive games on their platform.

trooper_2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

LOL!

Superior multiplats? How many comparisons have shown and proven the PS4 multiplats run better than the XB1? Scorpio isn't going to magically change that.

What superior network? Oh, the same network that goes down just like any other betwork? XBL isn't a special snowflake. It has the same problems as any other service so it's not 'superior'.

New games for XBox and Windows 10? Like what? Why is it that Sony has like over a hundred new IPs coming out and Microsoft has none? Why is it that new games come out instead of the same four franchises? Microsoft has NOTHING that makes a costumer consider an XB1 over a PS4, otherwise they wouldn't have screwed up with that DRM nonsense in the first place.

Just stop. Either use the /s tag or wake up and smell the coffee beans.

TKCMuzzer2662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

You like millions of hope holders would probably struggle to tell the difference between checkerboarding and actual 4K. You fail to point out MS for not investing in YOU the gamer with software yet congratulate them when they just move on from a console that is struggling.
They are bigging up the Scorpio in January, not bigging up Xbox One which is their current customer base, but a console out at the end of the year, no original software announces etc and yet you are pulled along for the ride. Whilst you continue to go on about Microsoft's money PS4 owners will be playing a crap load of games you won't see on a Microsoft platform.
You like many 'so called' Xbox gamers can not wait to move on from the Xbox One, not because your a gamer and want new experiences (which you will not get) but because you can't put up with the Xbox One being so far behind the opposition.
Their supposed to be games consoles but at present one company is more about games than the other, that is not fiction, it's a fact and whilst it always stays like that thats were more people will game.

sampson31212662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

sony will, all at once, announce the ps5, drop the pro down $100, and release Spiderman a month before the scorpio's release. ouch!

MS tried hard to ruin the pro's official announcement by " holly crap? we need to do something fast" announcement of the Scorpio. Sony will return the favor.

i can see it now, buy the God Of War PS5 bundle in 2018 slogan.

MagicBeanz2662d ago

Nathan_Hale532662d ago

Wow what a fanboy. If someone wants ALL of that, they'd invest in a PC. I doubt it will hardly put a dent in Sony. The Pro is fairly close in power, that is if Microsoft follows what they said its power to be (which I doubt it will be more powerful, as putting all of that power into a small box probably won't be the best idea.)

Notwithrocksteady2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

None of that speaks to a strategic advantage that Sony has just that it's doing better at selling more consoles. Microsoft and Xbox are future proof and will be the dominant platform to build games on for the forseeable future. PC is already top dog when it comes to graphics, resolution, and FPS. The same assets for PC will be unpacked and used for Scorpio as soon as you put an Xbox one game into the console. The fanboys can act like power doesn't matter anymore but for the last few years all the media has been talking about is power power power, so you're not getting away with it. All the games that you can play on Xbox one and windows 10 can be played on your Scorpio so there is no lack of exclusives. you guys are just being difficult and you know the only argument you guys have left is no exclusive on Xbox anymore. How many people do you think are gonna just go out and buy or build a gaming PC instead of a Scorpio. How does it really matter outside of fanboy ammo and talking points ? Can someone please tell me who loses out by games going to Windows 10 pcs also ?.
Console gamers ? No because we get great 3rd party support on top of first party games that the other consoles can't play no matter what. Don't act like ps4 selling twice as much has gotten twice as much aaa support from the big 3 compared to Xbox. If anything Xbox has gotten more support from the big 3 simply because of ea access.
Does Microsoft lose out ? No because they'll make even more money now lol
So can anyone tell me who exactly loses out by Xbox games going to PC/windows 10 ?

Christopher2663d ago

Not to take sides or anything but you do realize all of what you just said about Scorpio can be said about the Pro, right? Future proof, plays same exclusives on day one, etc.

Notwithrocksteady2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

it not future proof to the same extent as Microsoft and Xbox.
1. Xbox is now just part of Microsoft's hardware division so it doesn't have to worry about no funding.
2. Azure and cloudgine are making A blueprint for all the big publishers and developers to follow with Crackdown 3. In five years you will have games on my Xbox that just can't be played on the PlayStation. You are going to see a technological gap and it is going to be big and growing fast.
3. UWP and windows 10 make it easy for developers to make one game code and have the devices unpack the proper specs.
4. Developers have to do a lot more to get the games working on the pro then they will for Scorpio.
E3 is going to be amazing this year.

The point of the business is to make money and Microsoft has no problem there. Xbox is now in the division with surface laptops, look it up.
Universal Windows platform allows apps and games to be played across all devices on the ecosystem with minimal coding. By saying what you said you're being dishonest, because that's with the people at Microsoft have been saying. One of you is being dishonest.

Overload2663d ago

"1. Xbox is now just part of Microsoft's hardware division so it doesn't have to worry about no funding."
http://lolheaven.com/wp-con...

2663d ago
Christopher2663d ago

1. Absolutely not true. Please look up the point of a business.

2. Sony can use the same technology. Kind of like how Microsoft used bluray.

3. UWP is for ui elements and screen resolution adjustments. I think you're thinking of dx12. And, even then, Sony is developing similar tools for PS4 and Pro development.

4. Not proven to be true. Both have been seen to be about the same so far in analysis, but to be seen. But for you to make such a declarative statement without any numbers to back it up seems ignorant and naive.

Not me. I have Windows 10 and so no need for Xbox at all. Sucks for those folks who had a gaming PC and Xbox One before Play Anywhere was announced. Their Xbox became nearly entirely obsolete that day for future games.

morganfell2663d ago

You act like sony doesn't do the same thing. And to say that microsoft just keeps pumping out sequels when we have...let's see Last of Us 2, God of War 4, Uncharted 4, Gran Turismo, Ratchet and Clank. All IP's that sony has been riding for a long time now. Even the Jrpgs are mostly sequels nowadays, like how Valkyria Chronicles is getting a new game.

mkis0072663d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

If those games where all their studios worked on I'd agree with you...but apart from the racer...they have more ips they work on.

meka26112663d ago

Yea but most of those other games are indie titles, which I love, but still not AAA. Heck I love jrpg's but I definitely wouldn't call them AAA aside from a few. I'm just saying that both companies or actually all three have lost sight of what gaming is about, that's why indie games are doing so well right now. I see a lot of big companies going under in the coming years.

DarXyde2663d ago

Let me stop you right there.

Okay, Uncharted is fair game, as is Gran Turismo...sort of. There are plenty of GT games, but they're VERY sporadic and PD isn't nearly as prolific as Turn 10. We do get plenty of sequels on both machines--the difference is in reliance. As it stands, we're likely to get one new game a generation for The Last of Us. God of War 4 looks very different from the previous games, so I wouldn't say that much. It doesn't even appear mechanically similar. Oh, and you should really play the Valkyria Azure Revolution demo. It plays nothing at all like the previous entries. It may as well be a different IP. Anyway, Uncharted has really remained largely the same over the years. Totally agree there. I imagine the same will be true of The Last of Us Part II. Ratchet, eh, okay, I'll give you that one. But some of Sony's IPs are pretty young. There's Gravity Rush, for example. But we've also had games like The Last Guardian, Ni November Kuni, World of Final Fantasy, and Bloodborne with games like Horizon on the.....horizon. You see, while Sony does dabble in frequent sequels, they don't rely on the same ones nearly as much as Microsoft. As it stands, we have 5 Gears games available on Xbox One, 8 Halo games, and 5 Forza. To compare with your list, you have 1 The Last of Us, 1 God of War, 4 Uncharted games, 0 Gran Turismo games, 1 Ratchet and Clank, and no Valkyria Chronicles games. Of course, I'm counting backwards compatible titles. Without them for fairness, you still have 5 Halo games, 2 Gears games, and 4 Forza games.

If Microsoft brought back PGR or Perfect Dark, I wouldn't be upset. We don't see them often. I think Crackdown, Scalebound, and Sea of Thieves are all very welcome additions. But what I am saying is that we're over three years in and, Sunset Overdrive and Ori and the Blind Forest withstanding, nothing has been particularly eye-catching and new, at least for me. It's still Halo, Gears, and Forza. Mind you, they're well made, but it's like FOX bragging about their fall lineup only to give you more Family Guy, American Dad, and Empire.

Chevalier2663d ago

But they also have more New IPs too. Nioh, Last Guardian, Detroit Become Human, Wild, Hellblade, Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn and have far more invested in new IPs then MS easily. Also those games that you guys keep refering to as 'niche' are much more popular in Asia and Europe and not as niche as you guys think.

trooper_2663d ago

...What?

Are we seriously forgetting Ni-Oh, Persona 5 and the Yakuza series? Not to mention the exclusive fighting games Like Blazblue CF (getting more support in the future), and Guilty Gear Revelator? You know, Sony has new IPs like Horizon, and Become Human but let's just completely ignore those!

You guys are so funny.

McGamer2663d ago

Spoken like a true disillusioned PS4 fanboi. Enjoy all those 3rd party Indie games in 2017 you are bragging about while Xbox will stick to better graphics games and native 4k movies unlike PS4.

UCForce2663d ago

No, buddy. Indie or AAA, they are still game. More importantly, it's about taking risk. Sony take a risk by letting their first party developers to do whatever they please. MS is too scared to do it. I find this very funny is that I watched NX Gamer video, Uncharted 4 was technical masterpieces and he put it on number one list.

meka26112660d ago

There are still great games for playstation you cannot deny that. All I was saying earlier was that sony rides IP's just like microsoft. Microsoft needs to start taking more chances with IP's, of course a lot of industries need to try new things.

XanderZane2663d ago

First, I'm a bit shocked this is coming from Eurogamer, who usually has its head so far up Sony's butt that they couldn't see an XB1 if they wanted to. Now they are making an article saying the XB1 has momentum and a golden opportunity. lol!! Maybe he's being sarcastic. I don't know. Sure Microsoft has a golden opportunity to sell more XBox units once the Scorpio releases, but if he thinks they have any chance of catching the PS4 in worldwide sales, their nuts. In the U.S or UK, there still may be a chance, but worldwide it's a rap. Like last gen with the Wii (Nintendo pulled the plug early), there's no chance PS3 or 360 is catching the Wii either.

Microsoft best move would be to acquire some new 1st party studios. I suggest looking at all the developers who are making Win10 PC games and try to snatch of few studios who are working on exceptional games. Then they should look at some big named studios in the US and around the world. They still should rethink making a few exclusives just for the Scorpio (no XB1 or PC). Sure they don't want to leave other XB1 gamers behind, but they need to move some of them forward into the future. They could always make Scorpio exclusives, timed exclusive if need be. If they want to sell more systems, give gamers a reason to.

trooper_2663d ago

Uh, what momentum?

Unless it can match the PS4 in sales and generate new IPs that would make someone buy an XB1, it has no momentum.

These articles are riding the Scorpio too much.

neoandrew2663d ago

"The answer to Xbox's problems isn't a more expensive system. "

Well why not if this is the case also for playstation, a more expensive ps4 pro and an expensive psvr, both selling good, its not everything and of course ps4 had a way better year even without pro and psvr, but it is a good start for m$.

Lets face it, they need to compete, they need more exclusive ips, but if sony has more powerful ps4 pro and a vr headset, m$ need to have this too, there is no other way.

shiva12661d ago

So you mean to say.... Xbox should not bring another console so that all multiplats are better looking on Pro and that is the destination for console gamers? Xbox should not venture into 4k nor VR. Xbox as a brand be always outdated and the exclusive on xbox i like should not get 4k treatment and i should always think of ps4 or pro as the only way to game?

When you say its expensive does it mean $1 or $10 or $100 more expensive? Do you know the price?

Xbox One S looked to do a lot of favours for Microsoft and Scorpio, whilst being able to boast as the most powerful console ever made, it will take a lot of right moves on Microsoft's part to avoid the issues that the PS4 Pro has suffered from. Their focus looks to be on ecosystem/hardware primarily this year, but that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the likes of Scalebound, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and a few others (and the inevitable unannounced titles that might be revealed soon) but software is where they're currently lacking and they need to invest more in their internal studios/buying up other studios. God knows Microsoft is a financial giant compared to any other competitors so I want to see a renewed focus in bringing new, exciting IPs to the Xbox ecosystem. Halo, Gears etc. are amongst the greatest game series' I've ever played but I now want to see the next Halo/Gears franchise and thus far, they haven't delivered on that front.

p.s. never meant to type this much but I hope others can agree/see where I'm coming from as a fan of gaming with a neutral viewpoint

BlakHavoc2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

Ya I want to see MS and Nintendo rebound and claim their spot in the market. A competitive market is a healthy one, as much as I love Sony and my PS4 I don't want to see them completely dominate. History has shown us that usually doesn't work out in our favor, companies become complacent and start to figure out how they can get more of your money but give you less.

@tru
No ones refuting Sony compared to MS as a company...I'm strictly talking about their stake right now in the console market, its inferior to Sony. But I don't want any one company dominating the console market completely to where it becomes a monopoly. A competitive market is one that will benefit all gamers across all platforms.

FloydianAndroid2663d ago

I wouldn't say MS doesn't have a spot in the market.

TruM06072663d ago

The only reason Sony is even a blimp on microsofts radar is in the console market. As a overall company the competition that Sony is to Microsoft is laughable at best.

starchild2663d ago

Of course an even fiercer competition between the platform holders would be even better for gaming, but Microsoft is definitely providing competition to Sony.

Selling 50% as much as the dominant competitor in a market is no small feat. Look at the smart phone market where iOS only has around 15% market share next to Android which has nearly all the rest, but nobody would claim iOS isn't providing decent competition.

Some people seem to think that because Xbox and Playstation aren't neck and neck this generation like they were last generation that somehow Xbox is a total failure and isn't providing competition. These people don't seem to realize that it is not the norm for there to be two leading competitors neck and neck like that.

You are "neutral" yet you are part of that bizarre bunch that like to say PS4 Pro has "suffered" and has "issues" like it has been a failure. There really hasn't been any games built earlier in development with PS4 Pro in mind yet. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the first ones. Anything else patched has simply been a bonus that makes superior PS4 looking games even better then they already were..
And it is hilarious that most of the people that say PS4 Pro has been a "disaster" would defend the actual architectural mess, the "next gen" Xbone, to the death. That is, trying to say that Xbone's massive shortcomings and compromises that have to be made to 3rd party or even exclusive "next gen" games on the console are not not a big deal at all. But PS4 Pro is the screwup of the decade lol.

respekanize912662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

PS4 Pro owner day one and love it. D3 RoS patch went live and the game looks even more jaw dropping then it did. Cant wait for the big guns to be brought out like GT Sport and Horizon. VR looks way cleaner too using the PS4 Pro. Haters gonna hate....

OG PS4 still going too...

BlakHavoc2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

The Scorpio will sell well, im pretty much certain of that. But in no way will it put them back in the race in terms of market share, that dream is dead and the console wars been over for a while now. The best MS can do is to build momentum for the next gen. People will buy Scoprio simply cause it'll be a behemoth on the console market but if it lacks the games to showcase its power, it won't sell nearly enough. We'll know much more at this years e3, can't wait.

Notwithrocksteady2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

Every game now that has dynamic resolution and every game coming out after Scorpio will showcase it's power. Stop acting like games are never going to come to Scorpio just because they go to PC also. It's on both, how do you guys not get this. Playstation showed more games but most of those games are not even AA or coming out 2017. Keep in mind Microsoft has more better IP's that they aren't using than Sony does. I hope the announce these games at E3
Fable
Crimson skies
Halo 6
Star Wars RPG using The same cloud tech as crackdown 3 but for persistent universe not just for destruction.
Alan wake 2
Quantum break 2
Sunset overdrive 2
Recore 2
Dead rising 5
A justice league game with a persistent universe
If any 3-all of these games are announced I will be ecstatic.
@remixx where did I say all of those games were owned by Microsoft ? Sony doesn't own from software but they got bloodborne as an exclusive for the console.
Those games listed are going to be good but I thought you guys are hyping many many more games than just those ? Five of those games are not coming out this year some of them probably not even next year. So Sony can announce games that are coming out in 3 to 4 years that you think it's gonna take that long to make sunset overdrive 2 The template is already done it wouldn't take very long to make a sequel. That's how game engines work bro. You did nothing to counter my argument. The holes aren't in my comment there in your brain.

Christopher2663d ago

You do realize that dynamic resolution is software upscaling, whereas gamers are still looking for native 4k and the like. One of the reasons the Pro gets so much flack is because of its 'dynamic resolution'.

remixx1162663d ago

You claim sony showed off more games that weren't even AA.....

Your credibility flew way out the window.

Last of us 2
God of War 4
Days gone
Death stranding
Knack 2
Spiderman
And a crazy amount more

You claim you hope MS announces those games you mentioned. Sony revealed the games I posted .

You going off of hope but I'm just speaking reality, it just looks much better on Sony despite your biased statement that of better looking unused ips, which just sounds stupid.

Not to mention how are they gonna announce half those games like dead Rising, recore, quantum break when they just released last year and the other ips like sunset overdrive, starwars and dead Rising MS doesn't even own...

There's a lot of holes in your comment.

guyman2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

You're being VERY optimistic. You can already count sunset overdrive 2, QB 2, fable 4 and alan wake 2 as definite no's.

As for recore, it will be silly for MS to invest In a sequel after how poor the first one performed. You can bet against a sequel

Halo 6 will definitely be there.

A star wars rpg exclusive to Xbox? Forget it, it won't happen.

Crimson skies? It's possible for a reboot.

Dead rising 5 - not an exclusive, also a stale franchise by now surely.

Justice league - wont be exclusive

In the absolute overwhelming amount of this post is incorrect.

A lot of the titles you actually mentioned are not actually owned by Microsoft.

Even asking for titles like Quantum break 2 or ReCore 2 don't even make any sense if you consider the first we're not even successful for the platform so why would the sequel be? That's like me listing the sequels to something like Lair lol

Buddy both Publishers have their own failures like the order 1886 or even MAG, desperately be using basically any property you could get your hands on as an example of how the company will be great only goes to show you just how scarce new intellectual properties are for this company to even be using something like week or as an example of future success smh

Microsoft this does not have as many teams at their disposal a Sony does Sony could basically stop Guerrilla games from ever making another Killzone and simply just have the other portion of Guerrilla Cambridge the create it.

Sony could probably make the sequel to the order 1886 simply using Sony Santa Monica the team that helped create that game...

The reality is Sony just has more teams to actually make sequels to older properties than Microsoft does Microsoft continuously has to Outsource just to get games going which questions the quality of the title in the long run.

How can any of those titles have a successful future if those teams are never even owned by Microsoft?

Put it this way if those properties were ever going to be successful for Microsoft they wouldn't be losing this generation right now ( like they lost the last)

Deathdeliverer2663d ago

Sony does not own from software but the do own Japan Studio. The team that CO created Demon Souls which turned into the dark series. Same way they Co created bloodborne. Idk what the hell kinda deal it is that allow them to use the ENGINE and style in multiplat games but it is what it is.

rainslacker2663d ago

You're more likely to see a sequel to The Order than you will from Recore, SSoD, QB, or Alan Wake. MS isn't known for supporting games that failed to strike a fire and move tons of consoles and copies of software. Sony is already making a sequel to Knack, and has implied they weren't opposed to a sequal to The order. Gravity Rush was a moderate success on Vita, and they are making a sequel to it. So on and so forth.

What marginal titles has MS ever released a sequel to or supported in a big way to actually back up your speculation of throwing out random games with a number after them to bolster the actual weak list of games that MS already has announced. heck, Fable alone they already canned, and I doubt Disney will give them exclusive rights to a Star Wars IP

AcidDvl2663d ago

Recore was weak, I don't think you'll see Sunset overdrive 2 since they're doing spiderman for playstation and probably realise that their trip to MS didn't pay off. Quantum break was disappointing. That Star Wars RPG is BS, was never mentioned by anyone, MS doesn't hold Star Wars license and the studios and publishers that do don't work for MS.

Nathan_Hale532662d ago

@Christopher

Which is dumb imo. Most people cannot tell anyway, and I highly doubt the One will deliver complete Native 4k like many think it will. It will do it more often than the Pro, early titles for sure will, but many others won't.

Xbox one + xbox scropio + windows 10 gaming computer sales > ps4 sales combine

Nyxus2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

Well if we're going to start that way: PS4 + PS3 + PS2 + PS1 + PSP + PS Vita

Edit: you know a windows pc gaming machine that can play PS4 games?

Doopy2663d ago

Sorry, can the ps3 play the latest ps4/xbox one games now? I know a windows 10 pc gaming machine is capable.

Overload2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

Why do you keep saying Window 10 PC gaming machine?

PC gamers don't use the Windows 10 store, they use Steam (using the Windows OS).

Edit: Generally speaking.

Fishy Fingers2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

If it's a MS game you can't buy or play it via Steam. You have to use the Xbox app. Same goes for certain Uplay or Origin games. But at least those can be added as a 'non steam game', Xbox can't.

PC players in the main (like myself) would love to use Steam universally but in this case you have to play via Xbox app using an Xbox live account on Windows 10.

I guess you aren't a PC gamer or you'd know this? It's a pain in our ass.

Edit: if you're going to edit your post "generally speaking" at least have the decency to show it.

WickedLester2663d ago

@Fishy Fingers

Yeah I'm sure Steam players are just weeping at not being able to play Halo-whatever version and Gears of Who gives a turkey.

_-EDMIX-_2663d ago

@fish,-doop- except Microsoft has to bend to the market and if people are not using the Windows store to purchase their games they're going to have to make them available on Steam to make a profit.

MRMagoo1232663d ago

@fishy

I have played those games without windows 10 😂 I have windows 7

So PC gamers play on steam and not the windows 10, yet they wouldn't be able to play first party games or play anywhere without that ? Sounds like you're talking nonsense and lies again. So with all these PC gamers only playing on steam and not window 10, how is it that you guys always say PlayStation gamers can play Xbox games on their PC ? Can you guys just pick a lie and stick to it ? lol.

iloveallgames2663d ago

So, which is it then overload? Are there no xbox exclusives because they are on PC or do PC Gamers generally ignore the Windows 10 store? Ahhh... the irony of you of all people posting a moving goal post gif...

Overload2663d ago (Edited 2663d ago )

I'm not sure what there is to debate. The games are available to PC users if they want them, regardless of where their main place to play is.

I have a Wii U, but my main system is PS4.

Aenea2663d ago

@notwithrock

Wow, you really don't have a clue, do you? Steam runs on Win10, you know that right?

trooper_2663d ago

@Notwithrocksteady

Uh, anyone can play XB1 games on PC. You make an account and buy the games. Simple. XBL isn't some exclusive fan club.

Nathan_Hale532662d ago

People buy some exclusives from Windows store, but the other games that you can buy off Steam, is where 99% of people go. I just think it is ridiculous for Doopy to say MS is making that much money from Windows 10 Store, when the only time people buy from it, is when they cannot buy a game elsewhere cause Windows store sucks ass. MS would make more of a profit if they either have a better program to DL the games from, or just publish the games on Steam.

wait...so you are a Xbox fan or a Ms?

I think Xbox fanboys are getting abit out of hand hehe

Aenea2663d ago

Cool! Where can I buy Sunset Overdrive for my WIn10 PC?

Nathan_Hale532662d ago

Coming from a PC gamer, Windows store absolutely does not make that much sales. Microsoft should just publish games through Steam or make a better program.

Dragonscale2662d ago

So your using a completely different platform and a console that doesn't even exist yet lol. Talk about fud.

How to recruit Lam in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Lam is among the 120 characters available for recruitment in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. While she is one of the many straightforward recruits, a known bug may prevent players from recruiting her if certain conditions are met. Despite developers’ assurances of fixing the bug, some early access players still encounter issues with recruiting Lam despite attempting the standard method.
