6TF - 12GB GDDR5X - ZEN CPU? I´M READY!

MrSec842773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

@Obscure_Observer: Zen isn't going to be used in Scorpio, it would make for a prohibitively huge chip, taking up way too much space on the motherboard.
Microsoft have already confirmed that the CPU will have 8 Cores, a Zen CPU with that many cores made alongside even an RX 480 would make for a chip 2X larger than the RX 480 chip in retail GPUs.

No it's likely going to use 8 Jaguar CPU cores because they take up very little space and wouldn't add much to the cost of an RX 480 chip, which is likely the GPU that Microsoft will go for, because it's highly mainstream, which means cheap prices so that MS can keep overall profit margins up in Scorpio.
AMD are confirmed as the chip vendor for Scorpio, they don't have a smaller core than Jaguar being made at 14-16nm and they haven't scaled Zen parts down to take up any less space than their desktop variant, Jaguar is basically a given for Scorpio.

BTW MS have said it's launching Holiday 2017, so it will be launching no early than late September, which means Sony will have at least 10 months with no competition.

@ the disagrees, what I've said is fact, Zen cores are too big, the chip would be too massive, you only need to look at the chip AMD have shown, unless you're a fanboy who thinks that pigs have wings and they can fly with them.

babadivad2773d ago

@obscure_observer

There is no way that the Scorpio uses Zen. The Ultra low-power Puma(Jaguar successor) core is the much more likely candidate for Scorpio. They may even squeeze in a higher performance Excavator core. Excavator is a desktop part though so they will need some tweeking to get it to work in a console's power envelope.

That's my opinion, Puma or Excavator. But there's close to %100 chance that it won't be Zen. It would be nice, but it's not happening.

shiva12773d ago

Exists and does what? True 4k? That upscaling is being done with weaker consoles as well. So whats the point of having pro.

Still greatness awaits after this Nov.

nitus102773d ago

Ah! I think I see why you and "Bennibop" got so many disagrees.

It appears Microsoft's research team of applied magic has broken the boundaries of time and space and now those select few who given their souls can play the Scorpio via da cloud. 😉

DJustinUNCHAIND2773d ago

Scorpio exists.

It's not released yet.

There is a major difference.

sinjonezp2773d ago

It's impossible to include the zen cpu, Microsoft has stated that all games will be playable across platforms, exactly like Sony's machine. Changing the ram and cpu will cause DEV differences and split the game player base. At this point I think Microsoft should just make this console into just a next generation system. Utilize the Zen processor, beef up the gpu, maybe stacked ram, and let it be a completely new iteration. I think by 2017, four years after the Xbox 1 is completely in line with release time tables. The Xbox came out in 2001 and the 360 was released in 2005 , four years later, so this is within MS ballpark to release a completely new console. Honestly, not calling the Xbox one a failure, but it directly correlates with the sales of the original box until the point of Xbox 360. I think it would be a great move to just let Scorpio be a new system with dedicated gaming content.

starchild2773d ago

Neither console is in our living rooms right now. People are comparing the announced specs, just as we've seen after past console announcements.

When Microsoft and Sony announced the Xbox 360 and PS3 and laid out the specs did people call the PS3 "vaporware" since the 360 released first and we were waiting a year for the release of the PS3? No, mostly quite the opposite. I can show you countless articles and posts where people were hyping up the PS3's superior specs. Many of them outright arguing that people should skip the 360 and wait for the more powerful PS3. Here's just one prominent example: http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

For a whole year the internet was filled with talk like that. Sony fans in particular couldn't stop taking about how much better the PS3 was.

The same thing occurred for 9 months between the announcement and launch of the PS4.

However, now that the shoe is on the other foot a lot of you seem to want to pretend Scorpio isn't coming and to bar discussion and comparisons between PS4 Pro and Scorpio.

It's fine to talk about the advantage the PS4 Pro will gain by releasing a year earlier because that's a reasonable assumption, but to act like people can't discuss the pros and cons of Scorpio just because it isn't out yet is pretty hypocritical.

freshslicepizza2773d ago

microsoft has people talking about it, A LOT. that should be #4 on the list

Bluemaster772773d ago

You guys on Sony's payroll. Because were were knee deep in speculation before the pro was revealed. now its all about "what exists" so lame

lokirevamped2773d ago

Not entirely true. Yes between Sony and Microsoft what you stated is true however the Steam Consoles have been and will continue to be the Most Powerful Console Ever Made.........well at least as of now through this current console generation.

SpaceRanger2773d ago

@bluemaster77

"Because were were knee deep in speculation before the pro was revealed. now its all about "what exists" so lame"

If I remember correctly, there's been only one console announced 1 1/2 years early. Just because you were fed that during E3 doesn't mean everyone else ate it up. There has literally been little speculation over the year in comparison to the ridiculous articles that were submitted after MS' E3.

Now all of a sudden MS is on top? Like I've said before, it's all hot air until there's physical proof. How many times did we hear of devs working on "revolutionary cloud tech" or "enhancing Xbox one through Dx12"? Look how all that played out.

3-4-52773d ago

* Lets be real...they wouldn't announce the Scorpio if it didn't exist, so this whole " it exists" argument is elementary at best. It's something a child would argue.

* PS4 Pro has a nice advantage this holiday and hopefully they take advantage of it but it or the Scorpio both won't have the impact people think they will.

* Nintendo NX will have a bigger effect on the market than thew PS4 Pro.

Id rather have a normal PS4.

fr0sty2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

I have a scorpio sitting on my desk. It isn't that great, doesn't put out a picture at this point. Maybe it needs a firmware update or something. One good thing about it, its power consumption is extremely low, like undetectable. It's also a very quiet machine, I haven't heard its fan spin up one time.

I can't seem to find a power button anywhere between the words 6TF and 12GB GDDR5. I even looked next to the 320gbps memory bandwidth, no button there either. I think I smudged the ink I wrote those specs with trying to push the button. I also broke my ethernet cable trying to plug it in, so be careful if you decide to start testing yours out.

As of now, it has a long way to go before this thing is ready for retail.

Disagrees? Someone please share how you were able to get yours working! I heard one person say that a healthy amount of imagination will do it, but that it may not be an accurate representation of what the final hardware is (or isn't, as will be the case with most around here) capable of.

XanderZane2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

And then next year will come and it won't. "Syndrome: When everyone is Super, no one will be."
Greatest is actually coming. Finally.

@starchild
Very true. There are hypocrites, hypocrites, everywhere.

Rhythmattic2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

MS are waiting. Still probably based on a mobile SOC, and I'm sure it'll be customised......I believe MS aren't going to be using AMD's existing Architecture.

Thats why scorpio will likely be Next Gen.

PoSTedUP2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

Wonder how much it's gonna cost to get VR up and running, for both consumer and MS, considering they don't have a first party headset, and not a lot of first party devs. Scorpio has the power, but by the time it gets its own exclusives and an incentive to buy , the console market leader will have the jump on VR and the ps5 ready for launch with its own exclusives and more power. MS jumped the gun Imo, what they are touting sounds promising but that doesn't spell success; that has to do with timing and a lot of other factors. If Sony brings back the montage marketing with VR and all of the exclusive games, it's game over imo. Especially considering the jump they have. sony has been working on VR and VR games for sometime now, while MS is just now starting to try and get devs to support their VR with games on a foundation that hasn't said or thought much about vr in the past years. I think Blu-ray and hdtvs are too relevant to make the main selling point 4k and hdr. It's not the new best thing yet like Blu-ray was, it will be, but not yet. The next step is consumer friendly VR with lots of support and exclusive games, imo.

trainsgofast2773d ago

@MrSec84

It will not be Jaguar CPU! If the PS4 Pro can't feed 32CU's with that CPU then how is it going to feed 64 - 59 CU? By the way ZEN comes in meany types.

Skillz12152773d ago

@obscure so 9 months= year and a half?

In response to hearing someone had a PC: "thats great, i'm glad you chose to get on the ms platform :)

it's unfortunate that you are forced to pick only a ps4 to play a sony exclusive"

What an ass wipe.

MrSec842772d ago

@trainsgofast:

"It will not be Jaguar CPU! If the PS4 Pro can't feed 32CU's with that CPU then how is it going to feed 64 - 59 CU? By the way ZEN comes in meany types."

Jaguar is the most likely prospect given it's size has been massively scaled down with the move to the 14/16nm finfet node, Scorpio is sure as hell not going to have an 8 Core Zen and btw PS4 Pro has 36CUs in it's GPU, with the overclock of it's CPU from 1.6Ghz in the launch PS4, to 2.1Ghz it runs fine for complex games like Horizon Zero Dawn at 2X 1080p, 30FPS, which is not far off of what you'll get in Scorpio with a 6TFlop GPU (likely with better visual settings in multiplats), it won't be a true 4K native console running all games at that resolution, with the equivalent of maxed out PC settings and certainly not 60FPS with no compromises as Albert Panello has been promising.

FYI it'll likely use the same GPU as PS4 Pro, just with a boosted GPU clock speed from 911Mhz up above 1300Mhz (which is easily achievable in the RX 480, it can hit 1330Mhz with reasonable cooling) in Scorpio.
FYI Jaguar was rated for clock speeds of up to 2.75Ghz when it was manufactured at 28nm, in PS4 Slim, Pro and Xbox One S it's now using the more modern 14/16nm finfet node, which could certainly allow for higher clock-speeds, with far cooler temperatures and more stable performance.

The same 8 Core Jaguar CPU in Xbox One will be fine to run titles like Forza 5/6 at 4K 60FPS with an RX 480 on the same die clocked at the speeds I mentioned above.

Zen only comes in a 4Core/8thread or 8 Core/16Thread variant, it does not feature a bunch of different CPU architectures, it's one Core Architecture that is way too big to put on a single chip with even a 36CU Polaris GPU at the current Finfet 14/16nm node.
You're dreaming if you think even that is happening, no Scorpio will just have a very similar APU to PS4 Pro, with a few fixed function mods of it's own and higher clock speeds compared to Sony's machine.
The major physical changes to Scorpio's APU will likely be the inclusion of Xbox One's shape audio block and likely a 50% increase in it's memory bus, which is likely why Scorpio can't release this year, that stuff takes time to work out and taper out.
With vendors busy manufacturing the chips for every other major device already out in the console space or coming soon and AMD themselves busy on their 3rd gaming design win getting manufacturing time from the right people was probably a major logistical issue.

You people really need to actually educate yourselves about the technology involved in these consoles if you're going to comment and think about what actually makes economical sense when these companies manufacture the chips that go into these devices.
Vendors wouldn't get hardly any chips on a wafer if they made the kind of SOCs you're talking about, whereas the level of performance Scorpio requires can be achieved easily with what I'm talking about and a few additions to keep proper compatibility with XB1, cost will be the most important factor.
A Zen/Vega chip would be ridiculously expensive and utterly pointless, especially considering that the 8 Core Zen CPU AMD recently demoed is basically up to par with a i7 Broadwell-E chip (that Chip retails for around $1000 and would be way overkill for even the highest end single Nvidia GPU set-up in a PC).

How do devs have their hands on something that don't exist? (Namely Bethesda and MS' first party) Phil Spencer already said they have people working on it. Of course its probably no more than a circuit board at this point but saying it doesn't exist is a major deflection.

ChronoJoe2773d ago

Most people here aren't developers, they're consumers. So for them, it doesn't exist if it's not on the consumer market.

Obviously, the awareness that it will hit that market soon has some value in and of itself. It's easy to say that the Neo wins because it's the most powerful system, but for those that want to wait the Scorpio will be a more powerful system, albeit at a later date.

With that said, I doubt the power of either of these system is going to affect the market that significantly at this late stage. If anything I imagine the purchasing options will be the most convincing factor. Being able to purchase a slim PS4 for a nice price point is probably going to attract more new consumers than the Neo. Obviously there will be some that jump in with the Neo, but I imagine many of these upgrade adoptors will be existing owners, upgrading their own systems, especially those who are preparing for VR or 4K televisions.

Overall I think being first to market is the most important factor here though, and ultimately I worry that the Scorpio will suffer as third party developers will not be incentivised to make the most of its powerful hardware if it's overshadowed by the Neo, or cheaper models of either system.

NewMonday2773d ago

only got their hands on the spec sheet nothing more

no dev kits even made yet

nitus102773d ago

Designing a PC is almost ridiculously simple if you stick to conventions and from initial design to picking parts, assembling them and installing an operating system should take someone with a little technical knowledge a few hours. Youtube is full of examples of this.

Obviously, if you wish to take the build and shrink it so it will fit in a nice case that gets harder since you have to basically redesign the motherboard so that all appropriate electronics will fit and work efficiently. There is graphical design software available to do just that and has been available for well over 40 years. A simple web search using the following "circuit board design software" as a starter will give you over 1.6 million hits.

Even designing your own integrated circuits is not overly difficult (there is software for that as well) however unless you have access to a fabrication plant it is easier and cheaper to just use "off the shelf components".

One of the simplest and yet the most difficult part is designing, building and integrating a power supply that will provide adequate power and cooling for all components.

I do think "ChronoJoe" has made a very good comment. It's not technical nor does it have to be.

sampson31212773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

I'm sure sony will be announcing the ps5 right before the scorpio lauches, just to return the favor.

sony made MS step in shit with the ps4 pro leak. because of the well placed leak MS has committed itself to creating this "most powerful console ever" to which the cost will surely sink the division because either A. they sell it for $599 because of the stupid Ultra hd player or B. they take a big loss because people aren't buying it so they have to lower the price like they did with the xbox one.

sony will have a full year to sell the most powerful console, the pro, which should sell great because of its price and being 3 times more powerful than the S. and only being $399..

to the untrained eye people wont notice the difference because of the architecture of the pro. the media that were at the event said the quality of the games look stunning.

sony learned from selling the ps3 at a high price point that people won't spend a lot on consoles. MS will learn the same with the scorpio.

the majority of consumers will take a lower price point, especially when the quality is almost the same when they look at the comparison while browsing best buy.

don't even get me started on the games. recore anyone? lol

IamTylerDurden12773d ago

It's a concept that might have a half baked dev kit. It's 14 month away. Pro is releasing in 2 months. Hopefully the same comparisons happen with the Scorpio and PS5, bc the PS5 will likely release a year after Scorpio.

XanderZane2773d ago

Phil already said they announced the XBox Scorpio now so that devs would know the specs and start working on the games. Pretty sure that major 3rd party companies andall of Microsof'st 1st party are working on Scorpio/XBox One games. It's a PC really and that's what dev use to make their games. Dev kits will most likely be out before the year is over if they haven't already.

OB1Biker2773d ago

Advantage 2: watch and learn
O_O

Haha silly article

starchild2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

That's so silly. Scorpio and PS4 Pro are competitors within the same generation, while the PS5 won't be out for at least several years and hasn't even been announced.

IamTylerDurden12773d ago

PS5 will likely release a year after Scorpio, i wonder if we will get the same articles comparing the superior specs of the far off PS5 to the imminent Scorpio. Pro vs XboneS comparisons would be more apt.

S2Killinit2773d ago

Scorpio is not of the same generation when all VR games are exclusive to it. How can the same generation have exclusives?

Also, its not even here yet. It will be another 14 months fir us to see it in stores.

If a console a year off can be compared with one releasing now, then the PS5 can also be compared to scorpio.

XanderZane2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

The PS5 has been announced? lol!! When did that happen? That's a system that doesn't exist and probably won't be announced until 2019 or 2020. Why would Sony announce another hardware less then 2 yrs after releasing the PS4 Pro & PS4 Slim. They still have to release the PSVR as well. It would be ridiculous to release all that hardware in a short period of time.

@IamTylerDurden1
Yes, 2-3 years after the XBox Scorpio. At that time a whole new generation will have started.

@S2Killinit
PS5 will start a whole new generation. The XBox Scorpio will not. It's still an upgraded XBox, which is why XBox games still play on it. Duh....

omegaheat2773d ago

You wanna know why I think the PS4 Pro will flop? Because guys like you are already anticipating its failure by saying things like wait until PS5. So are you implying that the Scorpio won't be a mid generation console, but the PS4 Pro is? Do you think Sony's got unlimited cash? If this PS4 Pro doesn't sell well, mark my words that Sony will be close to bankruptcy.

DigitallyAfflicted2773d ago

Im not an expert but if you look through history of gaming it will alway be down to games and price of the hardware not even the graphics or extra gadgets. We all know that.

sammarshall1022773d ago

PS5 is still at least 3 years away

We know the Scorpio will be on shelves next year

threefootwang2773d ago

Focus on Ps5? How about you focus on getting some games for the Ps4. The line up is abysmal. Before I sold my PS4 it sat for almost two years collecting dust. This generation has been mediocre and here you are already focusing on next gen. I thought hardware didn't matter for the ps4 Pro, its all about the games. Lmao, fanboys once again and there idiocy.

S2Killinit2772d ago

Well if you liked to live in your xbox bubble you should have told me not to disturb your bubble. Fact is, comparing scorpio a year before we even know what its gonna be all about is no different than comparing PS5 to scorpio. As long as we are comparing future consoles.

In the meantime PS4Pro is going to sell like hotcakes.

Obscure_Observer2773d ago

If a Third Party developer already confirmed a VR Scorpio exclusive, i don´t think we need a Turn 10 confirmation for Forza Motorsport 7 version for the Scorpio. Did we? ;)

starchild2773d ago

@Aenea

When the PS3 was nothing more than some announced hardware specifications it didn't stop people from hyping its power advantage to the moon. And the whole time that the 360 was being played in people's living rooms and the PS3 only really existed as dev kits people like you continued to talk up the PS3's supposed power advantage and bash the 360 .

Now that an Xbox console is going to have the power advantage you guys want to apply a completely different set of standards.

I can't believe how intellectually dishonest many of you are being.

n4rc2773d ago

Aenea2773d ago

shiva12773d ago

Oooh man. What happened to u all when ps4 was initially revealed in same way. Where did u hide u r heads then.

Why is Pro required in first place?

nitus102773d ago

@shiva1

The PS4pro was announced officially with a price and availability date. The "Neo" was just rumors with no official announcement. The "Scorpio" was announced by Microsoft officially at E3 but there was no proposed release date or price.

As for "Why is Pro required in first place?". No one is forcing you to get one but on the 10th Nov 2016 you can purchase a 1TB one for $399.00 USD if you wish.

BossBattle2773d ago

So I can buy a PS4 Pro today? The Scorpio specs are confirmed. You got to come up with something better than that.

XanderZane2773d ago

Some of the specs are confirmed, but not all. We don't know everything about the Scorpio just yet.

starchild2773d ago

So have some honor and quit trying to hypocritically apply different standards whenever it makes your favorite platform look better.

2773d ago
gamer78042773d ago

Thats not exactly true though, having something announced affects buyers decisions, especially ones that will require hundreds of dollars.

Person A: doesn't have a ps4, buys a slim or pspro or a ps4 on the cheap
Person B: has a 4k tv, decides now to get a ps4pro or xbox one s
Person C: doesn't have a 4k tv and has a launch console, saves this year for a 4k tv, then saves for a new console next year.
Person D: Has lots of money and just goes out today and buys an xbox one s and pspro and a 4k tv.

lots of different options, and information gives the consumer power to make appropriate decisions thats best for them.

Condemnedman2773d ago

well I'm buying Scorpio not the pro so that's an advantage surely?

GrubsterBeater2773d ago

Yeah, but you were gonna go XBOX anyway, as I'm sure you did this gen and last gen. You're still the same customer, not a new one.

Condemnedman2773d ago

so? I could go with Sony does that make a difference.

ZeroX98762773d ago

Hardware performance is the price to pay to get the PS4 Pro earlier than the Scorpio. Sony could have delayed it up to next year and give it a performance boost, but they chose differently.

Seeing the loading time of Recore on PC vs X1, it's about time consoles gets an upgrade. Never had a loading longer than 30 sec on my PC. Those upgrades are more than welcome!

NatFanBoyRestricted2773d ago

Atleast is gonna be more then the same overclocked hardware like the PRO

Bluemaster772773d ago

We can still speculate and write think pieces, just like people were doing for the neo. Stop being salty just because It'll most certainly be more powerful.

XanderZane2773d ago

When it releases it will be the only new game console on the market worth getting. Anyone who wanted a PS4 Pro or NX will most likely already have one and compared to the XBox Scorpio'd hype and power, everyone will want one. There are a lot of advantages to going 2nd. Just ask Sony.

BenRC012773d ago

this! Scorpio is pure vapourware untill we see a box or a game running on it.

4Sh0w2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

bu, bu, but we talk about announced games long before they hit the market, it's quite normal to compare them to similar games already released.....in fact I remember you couldn't have a discussion about Xbox360 for the entire year it was released prior to ps3 WITHOUT every thread being filled with "wait until ps3", "bu, bu, but the ps3", so why not Scorpio vs PS4Pro???

That said if you like the Pro just get it and enjoy what if offers regardless of whether or not the Scorpio will be better. I just don't understand why some are being so defensive now when really these type comparisons are typical of the industry.

ApocalypseShadow2774d ago

Let's break down this article...

Saying it is a "true" 4K box is like saying it is a "true" HDR box. Some games will be 4K on Scorpio, some games will be upscaled just like PS4 Pro. Scorpio just may have more native games. No difference except one thing: Sony's system comes out 2 months from now. Microsoft's system doesn't for another year. And PS4 Pro is riding on PS4's success and in house exclusives that just aren't matched.

Next, Scorpio potentially has more power for games and VR,. No disagreement there. But you need games to back that up. What company has more games again? Has more exclusive again? Has higher rate games again? What games on Xbox match the potential of GOW, Horizon, Detroit, Spiderman, Days Gone, Death Standing, etc? And if you say Scorpio will get more VR games, that's a maybe. Right now, most are coming to PSVR from PC. And because of PS4 Pro, there will definitely be more PC VR ports coming.

And PSVR grainy and sickening on OG PS4? Yeah right. Haven't heard that from the hundreds of play tests. Stop lying. Microsoft not splitting experiences? Yeah right. OG Xbox one won't have HDR. Both Xbox one and Xbox one S won't have VR. PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro will have HDR and VR. Who is splitting what again? Play anywhere? You mean like remote play for PS4 to phones, tablets, PCs, etc. You mean like that?I didn't see Xbox one played on a phone from anywhere in the world over the internet like PS4.

Lack of a bluray drive? PS4 Pro **HAS** a bluray drive. Be more specific. And, Sony being more of a hardware company would have more of a clue about UL bluray than Microsoft. Is it a minus? Sure. But is PlayStation a game system first? You bet. Patches were sorted already. PS4 Pro will have more games coming to take advantage of extra power. And those same third party games will arrive on Pro next year at THE SAME TIME as Scorpio. Pro's library I think will be bigger because it comes out sooner. Like in 2 months.

Lastly: price advantage. 12 months advantage. In house developer advantage. Leading console platform development advantage. Saying Microsoft will have next Christmas to itself is ridiculous. Sony and Nintendo will be there too. The only clear option? BS! And the beast is on paper and nothing but talk until we see it. Acting like all games will suddenly look like Star Citizen overnight on Scorpio is foolhardy thinking. And development of that game is still not finished. Wake up.

Lennoxb632773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

"What games on Xbox match the potential of GOW, Horizon, Detroit, Spiderman, Days Gone, Death Standing, etc?"

You people HAVE to stop making these opinions into facts. I have no doubt in the world that the games you named could be great. Phenomenal even. But its still your opinion. Same goes for Xbox gamers. Other than that I don't have much to say about this long a** essay. I've heard it all before.

ApocalypseShadow2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

If Xbox's games were sought after as much as PlayStation's, wouldn't it be selling more or just as much as PlayStation? Does anyone talk about halo anymore? No. They don't.recore came and went. Quantum break came and went. What other exclusive came out besides those from Microsoft? None. Because they only care about 3 months of the year.

See, that's Microsoft problem. People can disagree. And that's fine. But it doesn't change the FACT that Sony has better in house developers. Don't lie to yourself. They are awarded more for their games. Name the last time Microsoft was awarded for their games? They haven't.

Microsoft used to stand by metacritic. But Sony now has better rated games. Now metacritic is shunned by Microsoft and it's fans. That's a fact as well.

Worldwide Sony sells more consoles and their games are accepted in other countries. Microsoft can barely sell their console worldwide like Sony does. How many Xbox's sold again? We don't know because Microsoft is embarrassed to tell us. Now they talk about man hours? Lol! Man hours.

You can believe what you want to believe but it doesn't change facts. And, any games that are coming to Scorpio that aren't exclusive,WILL come to PlayStation guaranteed because Sony has more consoles sold. It is the leading development platform. Just like 360 was the leading development platform last gen. That's a fact. Facts hurt. But it's okay because a lot of gamers are going to see for themselves the truth soon enough.

Oh wait, they can't, they have to wait a year to find out. Until then, Sony has the advantage.

moegooner882773d ago

Well said ApocalypseS. The current state of X1 exclusives is pathetic. Sold mine a while ago.

LastCenturyRob2773d ago

you are missing one key element. Most third party companies usually favor the system with more power to showcase their games... As what happened with COD on the 360 then COD on the PS4. Many gamers are not loyal. They will go where the best experience is for their favorite games. If that is COD or Battlefield many just might follow the Scorpio as their choice. Price advantage? Not just gamers, but consumers won't have too many issues purchasing a more powerful console if that price difference isn't significant. $50 to $100 difference will not be enough to deter most consumers if the product is superior.

objdadon2773d ago

Lol, that completely utterly false. Third party support goes to player base. The more consoles in customers hands, the more potential for $$.

ShadowWolf7122773d ago

Except the 360 wasn't a more powerful system. It was A.) Easier to develop for and B.) had the bigger player base at the time marketing deals were made.

Nathan_Hale532773d ago

If that was the case, then PC would automatically win. In terms of the experience of graphics and choice, PC will always win. But it isn't, CoD goes for the most popular system. CoD last gen played 60 fps on both consoles. But they pushed more for the 360 because it had the largest player base until PS3 came the last couple of years.

joeorc2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

@Apocalypse Shadow

Exactly!, what is the price point really going to be when A) if the core chipset is such runs as such frenq, contains 12 GB of system RAM..what speed? DDR 3/or with the increase to 12 GB of GDDR5 ?
Than you have to look at the bandwidth of its connection is that going to be built in Particular like the Xbox one's to keep a constant system Equilibrium with is smaller earliest Xbox one system so as they stated no Xbox user is left behind!

GPU being high increased accelerated cores...what do many things like this all grouped together is going to cost?
Higher cost components even a year from now is not going to be as cheap as many seem to think it will be..this is not the PC market the price of scale has to be like you would a single board comp STP template's that means fitting as much on to one single board production ..remember this is an embedded systems
They are as you would an embedded system not as you would a desktop.

You may think AMD is going to cost cut their newest SOC such like this as much when it's going to be brand new for the start of this upcoming year? We are D@mn near fall already , that means to get to say silicon Usable in sizable yields to be high percentages by say March or April?

Does Microsoft manufacture most of the components inside its Xbox console's?
Doubtful, Sony does not manufacturer every thing inside its Playstation's also, but it does provide many of the core components for its systems than Microsoft does for its Xbox.

There is a reason Microsoft stated Premium system...they may not know the over all cost for the system yet even them selves, all they know is they have a budget set for the system..and let's hope it works out to be as cheap as it can..

But I am not so sure it's going to be as cheap as many are saying it will. It's just in hardware factors like embedded systems..with such higher end components like this never put inside before in a market that is price concerned as the games console market is..you just never know..one thing is sure Microsoft started off with the Xbox one it was $500.00 than , yes it was including kinect..so by removing kinect..you could put resources into other parts of the system.. Like VR ready support for external HMD systems, is the Xbox one Scorpio going to doing all the brunt VR computing or are they going to provide extra computing for the Scorpio so as to be able to have VR be ready to run on the Xbox one Scorpio system .

Since its the only Xbox being set to be VR ready.
Many questions have yet to be answered.

Lennoxb632773d ago

Listen man. I don't give a d*mn about sales, who did this or that, exclusives, metacritic, etc. All I'm saying stop making your opinions a fact. You said the games you named are better than anything on Xbox. Well on the other side there are people who think Xbox games are better than anything on PS. Differing opinions. No ones right or wrong.

Red_Renegade2773d ago

but if they sell better and review better, it's more than opinion, right? it's a FACT more people think playstation games are better. you may not agree, but the numbers- which are facts, not opinions- speak for themselves.

As things stand, right now, Scorpio is an idea whereas Pro is real.
Scorpio will have the power advantage when it releases, no one is questioning that, but as things are, right now in the present, there is nothing to go on. Just numbers.

Obscure_Observer2773d ago

ritchi45

You CAN`T possible belive that! Xbox One Scorpio is about 9 months from now to be revealed at @E3 2017.

Please... No offence to you, but, only a fool would think that MS has just an "idea of a console" at this moment.

Prepare yourself to witness not only CURRENT first party games running at native 4K but also third party VR exclusives as well. ;)

Nine months!

MrSec842773d ago

He's not wrong, if Scorpio was a real thing then Microsoft would have been able to reveal specifics like showing what the box looks like in the plastic, not use a CG render of the motherboard, but rather actually show the motherboard made of real materials and give the actual real PCB layout.
They could have confirmed the actual CPU core type in use (it won't be Zen as you believe it to be in your other post I replied to).

Gameplay for the system would have been available at E3.
As it stands Scorpio is just promises by Microsoft of vague statements that mean very little right now, there's nothing tangible in what Microsoft has delivered in the way of information surrounding Scorpio.
Right now Scorpio is marketing terminology and general PR for an imagined device, nothing more.

Obscure_Observer2773d ago

@MrSec84

What? That´s do not make sense! They ANNOUNCED the Scorpio not reveal it! Of course they boasted some serious numbers to create buzz and hype, but that´s all.

NX was also announced but so far, not revealed yet.

Wait for the Scorpio console and full specs reveal at E3 2017. ;)

LastCenturyRob2773d ago

Obscure...Remember 90% of those on this site are 14 year old fanboy trolls. Their mommy and daddy bought them one system and they will defend it with their lives.

TFJWM2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

Obscure_Observer

Of course Scorp is real but I don't see why you can't see his side of it.

Perhaps he sees Scorp as MS new Power of the Cloud. We actually have more info on how the cloud will improve the xbox one and seen it "in action" and has been talked about longer then Scorp yet the cloud has yet to happen.

Now MS comes out with more promises about what kind of system they are going to have with vague specs and you can't see how someone could be skeptical that they didn't just put together a bunch of buzzwords and ideas before they actually had the hardware in place or how the system would work first...

trainsgofast2773d ago

Your right, why give it all away now? What ever the CPU is it's more than 8 Jaguar cores that can't feed 64-59 cu just like it can't feed PS4PRO's 32CU.

Skillz12152773d ago

no different then hollow lens. both are damage control

*might

It probably will, but we can't be sure, still on paper now...

------
@starchild

Listen buddy, we don't know the final and full specs of the Scorpio. You can assume that MS will keep their promises but they didn't say "we are AIMING FOR" for nothing. If they were 100% sure they could they would have used different wording.

So it's fair to say that it's not sure. Heck I think they will, don't think they can not and don't look foolish, besides they might even feel they need to go over that number, but you can't deny it's 100% for sure.

I resent that you say that I'm dishonest and moving goalposts, I'm not, I'm actually stating facts, while you and your friends cling to this 6Tflops number as if it's already set in stone. It's not, face facts.

starchild2773d ago

My god, this is the most ridiculous deflection I've ever seen.

Do you honestly for one second believe that Scorpio will not launch with the specs that Microsoft announced? This isn't some newcomer to the videogame business. Both Sony and Microsoft have made multiple consoles already.

When Sony announced its past consoles I didn't see people on N4G saying "it doesn't exist"..."it's just on paper"..."it's vaporware". Where was the skepticism and attempts at downplaying those Sony consoles? Instead all we got is a year of Sony fans rubbing the superior specs of the PS3 in the noses of Xbox fans. I even remember a lot of Sony fans speaking nonsense about the PS3 supposedly beating high end PCs.

It's truly cringeworthy to see so many of you engaging in dishonest goalpost-shifting like this. Have a little honor and own up to the facts as they are. It's not like the PS4 doesn't already have a great many things in its favor.

Xavy2774d ago (Edited 2774d ago )

Microsoft is ready?? Well where is it?

Kryptix2773d ago

it's in the hearts and imaginations of the people! That's what truly counts!

NatFanBoyRestricted2773d ago

Just like PS greatness, it's always waiting

Xavy2773d ago

haha lol what? hearts and imaginations? Is that what you guys are playing nowadays?

Their newer giga cart tech should make for even bigger games coming to the platform. I'm hoping for a Resident Evil collection with the first 3 games.

With Larian Out Of The Picture, Will The Baldur's Gate IP Be In Safe Hands?

Huzaifah from eXputer: "With Larian Studios washing their hands of the IP, what is the ultimate fate of the legendary Baldur's Gate series?"

RaidenBlack6h ago

If anybody's gonna mention BioWare, then look at Archetype Entertainment, they're the new BioWare
or else
Obsidian is still a good choice but not independent anymore.

anast6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

No, WoTC is pivoting to mobile. They can use Larian's work to justify DnD Go and everyone will accept it.

RiseNShine6h ago

Short answer, nope. Long answer, f*ck nope.

Christopher6h ago

Honestly, we're talking completely new engine and none of Larian's built-in stuff with regard to environments and the like that they had from their past divinity game. No one is going to have that just ready to go. So, they need to shop for a dev studio that has a past game that shows what they want.

Obsidian doesn't have that, maybe the closest being Dungeon Siege 3 or Pillars of Eternity, but those are very basic, not as open, very little environment related and altering capabilities. So, we're talking a step way back on what Larian delivered. Zero scene experience to line up with what was done in BG3. Okay conversation tree designs, but still needs more complexity.

inXile has Wasteland 3 as a base model engine, and I think that's better than Pillars of Eternity from Obsidian. But, still needs to be more open world, more environmental effects, and a much heavier rules set adaptation. But, not a bad overall engine as a base, but still a ton of work. Zero scene experience to line up with what was done in BG3. Needs a ton of work on that entirely.

Tactical Adventure did the Solasta game. Really good and more accurate as far as 5e rules than BG3. But, again, if the expectation is similar to what made BG3 a big hit, engine isn't designed for moving the camera, is a bit outdated in graphics, doesn't have in-game scene elements, and needs much better writers/voice actors.

Owlcat of pathfinder games is another choice, even though they've recently moved on to WH40k licensed games. Again, though, the engine is the biggest issue here to match up, but it's a much better option overall than Tactical Adventure. Another question is writers/story telling, as much of their overall story telling bits are very limited with a lot of random worldbuilding elements that are just +\- of some attributes.

TBH, no matter who takes over, it's just not going to be like BG3 much like how BG3 isn't at all like BG1/2. And BG3 was so successful because of how much Larian was able to put in with their engine and how focused they were on players having ridiculous control over the story being told. I just don't see the next BG being the same and depending on what it is, it might be good but I'm not as big of a reach as BG3. It's way more likely players are going to go into BG4 (or its spiritual successor if it moves away from Baldur's Gate and into Neverwinter or something like Plansescape) expecting much of what is in BG3 with more options, new and older characters, and the same level of control over what they're doing. If it doesn't have that, regardless of who makes it, it won't be as successful, IMHO.

Evercade is a great little platform. Im surprised more dont know about it.

Vits1d 5h ago

It's a great idea, but I feel the execution could have been better, particularly concerning the quality of the consoles themselves and the fact that those carts are likely not going to last long, given the cheap, bottom-of-the-barrel flash memory they use.
