"Crashes and UI bugs
Long loading times"

Hopefully a patch can fix these things.

Genuine-User2776d ago (Edited 2776d ago )

I knew this game would be average at best, the gameplay reveal left a really bad impression on me.

@Nitrowolf2

Yep. He and his team have let people down with Mighty No. 9 and Recore.

Nitrowolf22776d ago

I knew it would what to expect when Inaufane was behind it. Mans a hack, even before Mighty No 9. and Red Ash

conanlifts2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

A 6 from gamespot is an 8 by any other person, but then i happen to dislike gamespot reviews anyway ( having said this reviews from other sites dont look great either).

One thing in recores favour is that it's a cut price game. Hopefully it's not a terrible game as i have preordered it. But if it is no great loss, i am more fussed with gears 4 living up to the hype.

Damn, it's getting low scores all over the place, was really looking forward to this as well.

nix2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

Whoopsie...

I always said that this game is average. That first 15 minutes of gameplay was nothing but shooting bullet sponged enemies which keeps spawning unnecessarily.

And i had also said this game is being sent out to die.

Freedomland2775d ago

Nothing in this game that can be appreciated, just an average old school shooting type of game with vibrant colors and some graphical enhancements.

Mystogan2775d ago

I love how only the bad reviews get attention. Lol. so far it seems to be a 7 on average. not bad for a budget title.

darthv722775d ago

the game is probably fun but the glaring issues seems to be the detractor for fans to look passed in order to even play it.

Like limburger cheese. If you can get passed the pungent smell, it's a pretty tasty cheese but many just can't bring themselves to even take the chance so it remains a niche cheese. But to those that like it, it's worth the effort.

NewMonday2775d ago

"delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad"

it had so much promise, should have delayed it, better to live with internet memes for a couple of days instead of releasing a broken game

mikeslemonade2775d ago

Still gotta support them or they gonna go to mobile and be irrelevant to gaming.

GameNameFame2775d ago

MS in general provides weaker first party experience.

Even before it lost all its exclusive to PC, if you look at metascore, PS4 doubles Xbox One in quality exclusives.

On Xbox 360, PS4 doubled on 90 to 80 bracket and TRIPLED on 90 to 100 bracket on exclusive.

Not only Sony supports more exclusive, it has more of the quality ones.

bouzebbal2775d ago

Lol is this the game my X1 friends have been hyping up day and night because of a nice looking animation trailer ?
A mix between zelda and jet force Gemini?
Leaves you with gears of War which is very sad given the fact it's the same gametype you have been playing on 360

MagicBeanz2775d ago

I said much the same thing and the xbox fanboys went bonkers. Turns out we were right.

Trekster_Gamer2775d ago

Fix these things!?!?!

Fix the darn GAME before release!!!!!

Nyxus2775d ago

Of course they should have done that, but the damage has already been done now and they should do what they can to fix things with patches.

rdgneoz32775d ago

If people keep buying games that are bugged to hell or broken at launch and then do patches afterwards, do you really expect a lot of devs to want to make sure they're releasing a non bugged / broken game at launch?

jznrpg2775d ago

Can fix the bugs now but not the boring gameplay.

Angeljuice2775d ago

But Xbox games release on time, it's one of the best features of XBone, they don't delay games!!!

2pacalypsenow2775d ago

So you're saying we should buy an external SSD to fix the games issue?

Ysmir67232775d ago

@2pacalypsenow No,i have a NVMe ssd.Why would i buy an external ssd for my pc???

PirosThe4th2775d ago

The last good game inafume worked on was Soul Sacrifice on VITA

XanderZane2775d ago

Hopefully they will patch it in the next 2 weeks. I'll still pick it up though. Inaufane screwed up another game. Mighty #9 isn't the worse platformer, but it's not that great either. Pretty average and didn't look anything like the original reveal they were striving for. Recore looks a little more innovative. Fix those damn bugs though.

S2Killinit2775d ago

I knew it wasn't a big game. But I didn't expect that it would get 6s.

4Sh0w2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

It's a shame this game has issues, watching the trailers I really liked the look of it, and the concept was cool, so Im a bit dissapointed. Ahh, well I guess I will still give it a go though.

memots2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

@Mystogan
So this big exclusive and no exclusive anymore is now a budget title ?
This was on those constant list from the like of Gansta_red and others here.

DarXyde2775d ago

Even then, it looks like Gamespot had some notable gripes. Ambiguous mapping, frustrating progress barriers, length, etc.

Granted, GS is unusually strict in their assessments. They did say it feels like a fun PS2/GC era title. That's not at all a bad thing since I think many games had soul back then. It has plenty of potential, but the execution needs to be reworked. Ideally, nothing patches or sequels can't fix. It's never fun to see a game people were anticipating receive this type of reception.

I will say though, for a game published by Microsoft, I'm very surprised they allowed it to be released like this. A little more time in the oven could've made a fair amount of these issues non-existent.

...at least it isn't full price...?

GamingIVfun2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

Kinda sad about it, looked really interesting, but I had a feeling this game needed more development time.

Dunban672775d ago

Aren't Mighty Number Nine backers still waiting on patches, some even the game? I will be surprised if this games gets treated much better unless MSFT has some leverage over them to force patches and updates

MagicBeanz2775d ago

There was a day one patch put out but it did not resolve loading times apparently.

Looks like it didn't turn out as good as we thought it would. Makes clear sense why they barely marketed this game.

I don't think it will be that bad. It might just be divisive

DigitalRaptor2775d ago

No, it turned out just as most of the smart folks of the interwebs thought it would.

I feel sorry for Kenji Inafune more than anything else - this hasn't been his year.

It's not been the Xbox One's year either.

Eonjay2775d ago

I've seen Marketing all over youtube this last week. Also up by the Microsoft store at the mall this weekend.

maybe will wait for a patch before i consider it.

EmperorDalek2776d ago

Yeah the gameplay looked pretty rubbish. Which is a shame; I was looking forward to a good 3D platformer.

gamer11382776d ago

If you bother to read, the gameplay is actually solid. It says it right there, in the description. Used to be that N4G users wouldn't click on the article but read the description. NOW they just zoom straight to comments.

Nitrowolf22776d ago (Edited 2776d ago )

most people never bother reading anything about reviews they just read the score in the title it's always been like that

yomfweeee2775d ago (Edited 2775d ago )

Mechanics != gameplay.

Additionally, the "summary" description here on N4G... is no where in the article. It never calls the mechanics solid. So, did you actually read the review?

EmperorDalek2775d ago

You cannot get away with bad quest design, especially in a platformer. In terms of gameplay, the platforming looks bland. The combat looks solid for a platformer, but combat should be there to either support the platforming, or at least be supported by it.

Just compare it to other combat based 3D platformers released a decade ago, such as Jak 3 and Ratchet. It doesn't even look half as fun as those.

Arbormist2776d ago

It failed to capture me in the first place tbh. Felt like it was trying to be so much more than it was. But maybe that's due to my dislike of M$...

Five Overlooked Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Gems You Should Play

I personally think there's better on gamepass then what was listed. State of decay imo is better then anything listed. Recore seemed alright for what I played on there also.

roadkillers467d ago

Is Recore any better to play now?

Concertoine467d ago

Yeah, especially on One X or Series X. It kinda feels like a PS2 platformer, but in a good way. I liked it.

KillBill468d ago

Odd that he specified 'Game Pass Ultimate' instead of just 'Game Pass' just so he could include a relatively weak choice comparably in 'Alice: Madness Returns' which is available with EA Play. SoD was a far better overlooked game to have listed.

Crows90468d ago (Edited 468d ago )

Dont know why they keep listing ultimate. Gamepass is the better value....but the reason I think is that ultimate includes online gwg.

MadLad467d ago

I mean, as someone who games both on PC and Xbox, Ultimate makes a whole lot of sense. There's console exclusives and PC exclusives. And, at the end of the day, EA Play is still a perk of having Ultimate. When I open Gamepass, the EA Play catalogue is sitting right there for me. It's as much part of Gamepass as any other title I'm looking at, right?

5 Games That Could Have Benefited From a Day One Game Pass Release

Omar Banat: Xbox Game Pass is one of the most ingenious services that Microsoft has come up with, but for these five games, it didn't come soon enough.

Game Pass certainly could have helped Sunset Overdrive which was underrated, imo.

"But the focus of the day is Remedy’s 2016 critically acclaimed Xbox exclusive, Quantum Break, and how Game Pass could have given it a much-needed bump."

Quantum Break received overall good reviews. Not great, but good. Critically acclaimed? Sorry, no. That's hyperbole.

"And fast-forwarding a few years, we saw what a boon Game Pass was for Gears 5. Not only did Game Pass help get the game into the hands of more Xbox and PC players, but it also helped it exceed Gears of War 4 in sales."

Gears 5 was launched on Steam day one. Gears of War 4 still isn't on Steam. I think that's important to point out if you are going to allude to reasons why one game outsold another.

darthv721127d ago

SSOD was free on GwG not too long after release. That is always fun for quick pickup and play. QB is one that I hope gets FPS boost support. It would just feel more natural being more fluid but it too is a good game. I assume it being on GP has somewhat helped it get some recognition.

CrimsonWing691127d ago

There’s no denying how good Gamepass is but I’m still foggy on how it benefits developers/publishers. Like, do they just get one lump sum of cash to put the title on Gamepass? I mean, I personally canceled my pre-order for Outriders when I saw it’s going to be on Gamepass day 1. Judging by that I’m not sure Gamepass helps with the sales of games, rather it does expose games to more players, but how much of that equates to sales down-the-road?

RavenWolfx1127d ago

I heard payment was based on number of downloads and time played in addition to a lump sum, but I am not sure on the accuracy.

demonseye1127d ago

I actually agree on this. because a lot of games will get played that people they normally wouldn't pay for. and its 10 dollars per month which is 120 dollars per year. The average game cost day one is around 70 dollars. i buy a lot more games than 2 on a yearly basis.
and well the gamepass for me just made my option ps5 pc combo. as long as they release every game on pc I don't even have a reason to buy an Xbox. so i wonder if this plan is financially smart in the long term. mind you Xbox already received money for every Xbox game sold regardless if it's Microsoft owned or not.

Revisiting Recore: Xbox One’s Lost Gem

Article on the story of Recore which includes new information on cut characters and covers its rumoured development hell. "Recore’s always been a title that’s fascinated me, as it's clearly a game that never fulfilled its potential for whatever reason.  It's filled to the brim with bugs and glitches and yet, despite that, still managed to charm many who played it. It’s the first game that I wanted"
