According to Sean Capri, Nintendo's best play is to hold off until 2017.
Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."
I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.
but still considered the best of the seties.
i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.
25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.
Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.
The best prices we've found this Black Friday for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom as well as the previous game, Breath of the Wild.
The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has again commented on the possibility of revisiting the style of past entries in the series – but there are no plans as of now. Speaking with RTL Nieuws, Aonuma said that games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were possible because of what came before them.
Which is very sad. I still wish we could get a zelda like twilight princess, the dark tone and theme in the traditional style. But times have changed and the masses prefer open world sandbox. Smh. Perhaps we can get a proper hd remake of ocarina of time some day.
If they can bounce between 2D and 3D Mario games, they can bounce between classic and modern Zelda games too. I thought this was a given when the Switch combined a handheld with a primary console.
Then this is where I part ways. I won't disagree with anyone who says that the old formula was getting stale. And I do think BoTW in a few ways was a step in the right direction, but there's way too much good that was left with the old formula in the transition.
Well that sucks. I still love the classic formula WAY more than the Hyrule Engineering Simulator
No they shouldn't. Get in before Scorpio. Have you moment. Everyone wants to see Nintendo comeback strong.
That would be an awful idea
We need to know what it is now. I'm getting sick of the rumours and supposed leaks
It's coming out in March...that'd be a death sentence to announce it a few weeks before launch.
Yeah right. We need to know if it really is a handheld with power less than an XB1 launching in 2017, and is supposed to be considered also a console because it has an hdmi port that can hook it up to a HDTV. We also need to know if this handheld is supposed to utilize motion gaming in public. The rumored picture looks like it's basically a Wii U (crap ergonomics) gamepad whose sides detach with about the same size screen and fidelity is slightly better.
Because this really is crap if they do it and expect Nintendo customers looking for a console to want it. Just because you add in a bunch of handheld games these people don't want, doesn't mean you'll have a large list of titles people want. The whole 'mobile' aspect is a minus for me, not a plus. I would never use a NX on the go.
Adding stuff to devices people don't want, is a risk. I want a console, not a handheld that you call a console.
So people are out here already forming opinions about how crappy this NX might be. I hope it isn't what has been rumored because it's not a true console and has the power of 2007 or 2008 behind it. Literally the NX basically is rumored to have the power the Wii U probably should of beat in 2012.
I really mean it. It was rumored the Wii U would be around 1TFlop, now its successor might fall below that. That's just sad.
At the end of the day, if Nintendo can really stand behind a low powered console, they should do it now... or change it.
If it can be copied, it will be. Or maybe the other companies won't want to because they don't see value in it.
The funny thing is, I was thinking, why are they coming down on all the fan games... then it hit me. Nintendo is so far behind in graphics at this point... that fan games are going to start massively looking better soon, because Nintendo is stuck making their products on 10 year old tech. Even amateurs will vastly surpass the visuals Nintendo can produce, if the amateurs are using Unreal 4 engine. In fact I remember seeing and downloading something similar, and while relatively barren, the graphics were better than anything Nintendo has ever put out.
If the NX really is 2007-2008 power levels, and expected to be it's main device for the next 4-6 years, these fan games are going to look so much better that they do actually threaten Nintendo.
Delay it? They still haven't shown us a damn thing about it... And it's been what? Over a year? Please... Nintendo should annouce the NX to get customers interested...
