YES! I am a BF veteran man, been playing since Battlefield 2. I have over 500 hours in Bad Company 2, BF3, and BF4. Over 200 hours in 1943 and Bad Company. This is no doubt a true BF game, I think it's mostly the Battlefront players who have never really played a BF game are the ones who are saying it feels too much like Battlefront when in reality, Battlefront feels like Battlefield lol just more floaty. BF1 feels "Easier" than BF4 and BF3 but not as easy as say Bad Company 2. There is less of a learning curve and I kind of like that, but anyone who says this is not a battlefield game, does not know what they are talking about...

daBUSHwhaka2782d ago (Edited 2782d ago )

I am also what I class as a veteran man, with thousands of hours logged over all games, but something just didn't feel right.Sniping has no skill compared to previous titles.Vehicles felt overpowered and the overall movement felt off.Doesn't help the game wasn't running smooth with in game menu lag, killing 2-3 mins off playtime per game.Sensitivity options ! So many also meaning getting things feeling right took to long with the menu lag.Gonna get a few days on it all day next week so hopefully see sum improvement but as of now the experience hasn't been good so still undecided.I know its still beta but after the BF3/BF4 launches I'm sceptical.

SonyWarrior2781d ago

i been playing bf since bf1942 it was the first game i bought for pc which made me need a graphics card. This game doesnt feel like bf1942 or bf2 at all it feels like bf1943 by my memory. I'm not impressed at all with bf1 it looked like it was going to be more fun then what it is but maybe its just the map that i dont like. but i went back to playing hardline.

Salooh2781d ago (Edited 2781d ago )

For me i love using the tanks and planes more than bf4. Horses are awesome. Vehicles feels like they were well made(with few exceptions), so it have some sense of quality and depth. But to destroy them you need team effort, that's my only problem when i am playing a lone or with people that don't want to work together.

As for walking , my only problem is with jumping over things. Doesn't feel smooth and causes many awkward and annoying situations.

I haven't tried all the weapons and master their advantages. In bf4 i only use few weapons. So i hope that i find my own weapon in the full game, so far i love the horse weapon.

As for the map i don't like it in conquest but it is playable. I hated some maps in bf4 so i can't judge the game based on one map.

I wouldn't miss the chance to play something new with my brothers/friends especially if it is team based game. There are many things to experience and master before judging :P. Obviously, it is a quality game. It feels a little different(which some may hate). But to appreciate the setting we need more variety, season pass may solve that. If not, i am sure that a new game with the same setting will have the same effect as bf3 to bf4. So for me this is BF3 , it is not as addictive as bf4 but it is enough to make me happy about the new setting.

3-4-52781d ago

Sniping takes more skill now than ever before IMO.....all guns do except for the Artillery vehicle.

_-EDMIX-_2781d ago

Explain what you mean by sniping has no skill? You still have to measure the scope based on distance, you still have bullet drop, I'm sorry but you have to seriously explain what you're talking about you can't just State something and then have no evidence to support your claim...

Vehicles feel overpowered because you don't have the mines or other unlocks, keep in mind you're talking about a beta you're not talking about the final game.....

For those saying it's not a Battlefield game I'm sorry but you have to first explain what that is to state that this is not one.

Dirtnapstor2781d ago

I'm loving the beta but yes those tanks are way too overpowered. Hate seeing them on the maps because they're just about omni-everything. I'm sure DICE will adjust things based on feedback from the beta.

Der_Kommandant2781d ago

Exactly, sniping isn't the way it used to be, there isn't gravity anymore, you can snipe other guy from 1000 miles away and the bullet goes straight.

InMyOpinion2780d ago (Edited 2780d ago )

Der_Kommandant - Have you even tried it? There is both gravity and bullet drop. To snipe someone from far away you need to aim a fair bit above them, and in front of them if moving.

"been playing since battlefield 2"

Don't bullsh!t us. Not even Battlefield 1 out yet /s

Kombatologist2781d ago

I really want a Bad Company 3.

2781d ago
Paytaa2781d ago

Been eagerly hoping for a BC2 for what feels like an eternity now. Bad Company 2 is arguably my favorite military oriented FPS ever made.

camel_toad2781d ago (Edited 2781d ago )

Been a BF fan since 1942 but haven't enjoyed a BF game since Bad Company, BF2, 1943 and Vietnam. BF3 and 4 just didn't do it for me but BF1 definitely is.

I'm old as hell now in gamer years so maybe the reason the younger gamers don't like it and I do is because DICE has catered more towards the older player's. Them youngsters need their lock-ons.

Orionsangel2781d ago

This is why I'm sucking at the game. I'm coming up against veterans. That and I don't play FPS games very often. Any pointers you can give me to up my game?

WellyUK2781d ago

stick to the areas that suit your weapon best (Not every point is important as long as you can control the town and the trainstation) Stay with your squadmates as much as possible. Even if you don't kill enemies a lot try and spot them, give out ammo, health and revives as much as possible as it all helps your team. Also remember that the Support class the guns all get more accurate and stable the longer u hold the trigger down. If your using tanks try to not just drive them into towns unless you know what your doing as most assault players should/will blow you up. Also when your sniping make use of the bipod by laying down as you then don't need to hold your breath and should make it much easier.

Orionsangel2781d ago

Thanks @WellyUK. Gonna try that tonight.

_-EDMIX-_2781d ago

Don't worry about playing against better players in my opinion your only enemy many times is yourself focus on supporting roles if you see your team is dying at a rapid rate become a medic in focus on doing nothing more than giving out health and Reviving.

If your team is being bombarded with tanks turn into support and give out ammo so all your teammates have enough grenades to go against the opposing team always stay around snipers as they're using lots of ammo so that way you could get points too.

The best advice to do well and Battlefield is to stop worrying about getting a lot of kills and start worrying about carrying your weight around the team and supporting.

Orionsangel2781d ago

Well, your advice must have worked guys because now I got 18 kills. Yesterday I was lucky if I got 3 kills.

I don't know if it's true Battlefield but it does feel like starwars Battlefront in some ways, but I think it's fun to play and there are things I really like about it, the horse riding feels and looks better then any game I've ever played doing horse riding before.... I didn't expect that... Looks so good on my PS4, it looks like an animated cartoon or CGI at times, everyting with the horse is done well, amazing job..

It feels really nice... they did an amazing job on that... and the flying is done well too, shooting feels good, it's more starwars but bullets instead of laser, but the feel is better here.. it's like a cross between starwars battlefront & battlefield hardline.. Shooting just feels good which is all you really need to know..
The map seems huge, which is really cool on conquest, because that's what you want... and the animations are really done well. There is a lot to like.. So yeah it's more like starwars battlefront then its like Bad Company 2, but in the end it's fun to play, and looks like it will be a good game to really enjoy for awhile.

Themba762782d ago

it feels nothing like star wars battlefront in star wars you can only customize 2 buttons where in this game you can customize alot more and the flying feels a hell of alot better than star wars.

NextGenCeo2781d ago

I have over 500 hours only on BF4 i don`t count over 300 hours on BF3 and rest is same and i can say easly THIS IS NOT A BATTFIELD game. More like Battlefront and BF4 mix!
Means more action. Example you cannot take sniper shot easly on BF4 or BF3 one flag to another flag. Because distance is too much and it`s hard to hit.

But Battlefield 1 I`m taking a shot from F flag to almost A flag with WW1 sniper! It`s not make any sense to me!
This game not like Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4 this game diffrent. More like Call Of Duty with lots of vehicles and more players.
Also desturactions is fake not like the other Battfield games. I don`t like it and i`m first time not gone buy Battfield game in my life. Until Bad Company 3 or BF5 comes i will try another multiplatform games.

(ESL guy here so sorry for English)

sergons2781d ago

I don't like the guns in this game. There is not a single gun in the beta which I like to use :(

NextGenCeo2780d ago

Me too. Guns and shots not like battfield. Totally different and I don't like it either.

The_KELRaTH2781d ago

I guess the beta map is fairly typical of the size of other maps in which case it's certainly not like a BF1942 game. The capture points are almost on top of each other. I so miss desert Combat :(

Uhhhh not even close.Check out St.Quentin map on youtube.

Former Blizzard President Suggests Players Should Have Option to Tip Developers

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently suggested an interesting concept that has sparked a debate among gamers - the idea of being able to tip developers after completing a game.

LG_Fox_Brazil1d 14h ago

If I had a 100% way to be sure that this money would go to a fund or a reserve dedicated only to the guys who develop the games, be them designers, artists, programmers and so on, I could think about it.

But we all know that this 'tip' would only end up in a publisher's CEO pocket to buy a new yacht, so, no, I ain't tipping anyone anytime soon on this industry

neutralgamer199218h ago

Exactly these companies were raising money for good causes and gamers were donation and come to find out they are keeping a good chunk of be pie

PapaBop9h ago

Yeah tip your developer, 5% proceeds go to developer, 95% to the publisher or whoever. Isn't tipping for staff not making minimum wage? How about they just pay their developers properly and like you know, give them fair bonuses? Too much to ask from Blizzard these days, Kotick saw to that and is now laughing all the way to the bank.

MrDead18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

It's the t**ts at the top looking at ways to cut devs wages and get the players to tip them like waiting staff, and I'll guarantee a percentage is skimmed and kept by Activision Blizzard. This is 100% for shareholder and CEO playouts.

Popsicle17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

I have to agree with this. On the surface tipping devs sounds like a great idea, but in the end it leads to pay cuts and subsidization of pay. Tips then become an expectation or the devs “can’t make a living.” Lastly, especially in the US, tip culture has gotten out of control, and it serves as an excuse not to properly pay employees. Sounds good but doesn’t end well.

1Victor14h ago

Uh so they’re trying triple dip or more we buy the game that they’re already withholding/cutting content for dlc we was told that season pass would help the developers thrive we felt for it.
Now on top of all that plus their sales bonus they want tips enough is enough whatever happens to you create/built a good game get a bonus for sales milestones you care about your game and community we reward you with more sales not for doing 3/4 of a game then save the other 1/4 for dlc and passes after

raWfodog12h ago

The 'tip' is me buying your game in the first place.

S2Killinit9h ago

Very well said. If it was possible to send the money to either the developer or some organization for the betterment of gaming, sure. But we all know that will not be the case.

Rynxie7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

No, it would go to those on the top. They will still fire developers, have a bunch of microtransactions, raise prices of games and so on.

H91d 13h ago

So they eventually don't pay their workers and depend on our tips to pay them like the case with waiters!

Deeeeznuuuts17h ago

That kind of practice is only normal in the states, as far as I know anyway, what a backwards system

H916h ago

No it's as well in a every country that wants to amercanize

bloop14h ago

Ireland is literally the first stop across the pond and we don't have a tipping culture. The only establishments here that would expect a tip are the tourist haunts that Americans visit. Other than that, you might tip in a restaurant as a sign of gratitude for great service and waiting staff would be paid a full wage anyway.

Rebel_Scum8h ago

Tipping is not customary iin most countries dude. Get a passport lol.

Jin_Sakai1d 12h ago

Is this a joke? How about the big wigs giving up some of their pay for their hard working developers.

MrBaskerville19h ago

Maybe the CEO could earn his money based on tips.

mastershredder1d 12h ago

good god. The devs are not baristas dude. Total 1% ideals. Fing Chadosaurus.

Xbox's Preservation Step Sets A Much-Needed Example, Especially For Nintendo

Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"

purple1012d ago

Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”

Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever

Nice one ☝️

Zeref1d 19h ago

It's better than what Nintendo and Playstation is doing. It might not be perfect but at least they are TRYING. Unlike the others.

DarXyde1d 17h ago

Trying? Take off the blinders for a moment, mate.

1. A failure to preserve games is just that: a failure to preserve games. Don't try to sugarcoat it: NO ONE is doing it properly. Better than awful is nothing to write home about.

2. At the time of this comment, isn't it the case that you need an internet connection to play Xbox games even if you buy physical discs that are hardly in circulation anymore? I don't have a Series X and I can't verify, but I think that is correct. I'm fairly certain you can at least play PS5 games at version 1.0 (not much of a win really when many games require day one patches). I think Microsoft's all digital, licensing approach is by far more aggressive than anyone else's. They really try to push you to game pass where you lose your entire library by umm.... Skipping a month of payments.

I don't think anyone is doing it right whatsoever. Don't get me started on Nintendo, who goes after anyone looking to preserve their games better than they ever would with extreme litigation.

Don't be a simp for any of these companies. Get it together.

PhillyDonJawn1d 17h ago (Edited 1d 17h ago )

@DarX never speak on Xbox again. You lost all credibility with your internet connection comment. Smh you have 0 clue and misinformed yet speaking on something you don't no squat about.

Einhander19721d 16h ago

What has Sony done exactly? You guys keep deflecting to Sony but I am not actually seeing any results, and ai am certain nothing that you can come up with even comes close to what Microsoft has done and what they have tried and failed to do, like tie all your disks to your account on xbone.

Microsoft removed their whole indie section when they moved to the xbone because they were going to only allow games on the service that came from a publisher, id@xbox started after xbone launched and it only exists because Sony embraced indie and Microsoft was forced to cancel their plans and reverse course.

And every single game that was part of games for windows live including disk games (I have gta 4 on disk that won't work) so hundreds of games that use that DRM no longer work unless the company themselves patched it out which of course very few did.

MrBaskerville1d 15h ago

Not trying. Tried. they killed of the backcomp program years ago. They set something up again, but sounds like it's more of an attempt to save the current library on whatever they are planning next. With luck they save everything and more, but let's see. I could see them killing off parts of the OG xbox and 360 libraries. Can't imagine that they would allow us to play Forza 5-7 in the future.

With that said, I do like what they've done and really wish they could have done more.

shinoff21831d 8h ago

Zeref

So killing off physical media is trying what exactly. Ms don't really give a fk if you think they do your kidding yourself.

Profchaos1d 7h ago

They are not trying this team is established for forward compatability the team is. It interested in preserving Xbox or 360 games.

Is that why Hellblade 2 is digital only?

Zeref1d 19h ago

Just because it's digital only doesn't mean you can't preserve it. Just put it on an external and you have the exact same functionality of what a disc does.

MrNinosan1d 18h ago

Guess you're trolling, but if you actually think that's how it works, I'd recommend buying some braincells.

mkis00723h ago(Edited 22h ago)

Volitile vs nonvolitile data. A disc will not corrupt either. A drive can be corrupted.

Einhander19722d ago

This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.

No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.

Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.

Einhander19722d ago

Zeref1d 19h ago

Do you know you can put your games on an external and preserve them that way? There are no benefits to discs. ZERO. Idk why some of you are still obsessed with them.

DarXyde1d 17h ago

Because games like Persona 5 exist. It's STILL V1.00. On Playstation, that's a win because 1.00 is installed on the disc—no need to download anything.

If a game does not require any updates, it's all on the disc.

Extremely low bar in the modern era, of course. It's not much of a win by any stretch.

But for now, physical media does have a purpose, at least on Playstation.

Einhander19721d 17h ago

That is factually not how game licensing works, try plugging your hard drive into someone else xbox, It's not going to work, and it won't work if the licensing servers ever go down.

Einhander19721d 17h ago

Anyone remember games for windows live.

I have around a dozen games, some on Steam itself that will not work because Microsoft shut off the licensing servers.

BehindTheRows1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

I do. I STILL have games (Gears of War being the big one) I cannot access because Games for Windows LIVE is total garbage and no one has held Microsoft accountable.

Zeref1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

You don't have an Xbox apparently. Because you can 100 percent plug in your external and play games from it on any Xbox console lol. You just have to be logged in to prove ownership.

Chevalier1d 14h ago

"You don't have an Xbox apparently. Because you can 100 percent plug in your external and play games from it on any Xbox console lol. You just have to be logged in to prove ownership."

Damn how many times do people got to explain your idiocy to you? You can take a copy of Persona 5 like someone used as an example and play that game on ANY console WITHOUT logging in which means I can lend the game to a friend without internet and they can play my game. Can you lend your hard drive to anyone without logging in for them to play? NOPE. That is a huge difference and if you think otherwise then sorry you're an idiot.

Tacoboto1d 15h ago

"No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft."

Ubisoft is literally erasing games people bought from their libraries... My PS1-3 discs are useless on modern hardware. Nintendo's re-published and resold almost their entire Wii U library, and the eShop is completely dead with no BC mechanism in the Switch software. Microsoft publishes everything they make today day one on Steam and Xbox/Windows. Sony only brings to PC the titles they think you might want some years later and Nintendo won't even design a functional long-lasting joystick.

You're absolutely trolling and not serious if you think Microsoft today is the worst offender.

shinoff21831d 7h ago

Yay steam

Not everyone fks with computers though. The disc is still the best way as a console player. Period.

Tacoboto1d 5h ago

How do Sony and Nintendo feel about these discs from 2001-2013?

Don't be stupid, you know Xbox is the best at this today.

Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?

crazyCoconuts1d 16h ago

Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.

Xeofate1d 12h ago (Edited 1d 12h ago )

That is not their plan, their plan is to transfer users accounts to the cloud.

Phil Spencer himself said as much a few months back, plans could have changed but I think people are reading way too much into one statement where Phil said he would allow Epic on xbox because he wants to be able to sell xbox games directly on other platforms. Aka, instead of selling Sea of Thives through PSN he wants to have an xbox store to sell his games on PlayStation without giving PlayStation any money.

Again, it's extremely unlikely that Phil plans to put PC on xbox and licensing would prevent them from just giving out other publishers games purchased on xbox copies of thier games on PC, Microsoft does not own their games.

crazyCoconuts17h ago

The thing that doesn't align with the cloud strategy is the giving up on exclusives. You'd still need strong exclusives for cloud streaming - it's still a "platform" , just with a lower upfront hardware investment. I feel like they've learned what PS learned with PSNow long ago. We're not ready to stream games and it's only gonna lose them money to try at this point

FinalFantasyFanatic1d 2h ago

I would love that, I'd buy up some of the Xbox games if they could run on PC, like the Rare Replay, Lost Odyssey and Dead or Alive Ultimate, probably a pipe dream though.
