No Man’s Sky Gets Another Spectacular Trailer Focusing on Trading and Resources

Today Sony Interactive Entertainment and Hello Games released a new trailer of No Man’s Sky, coming on August 9th for PS4 and PC.

This trailer was my favorite of the 3 so far. I'm excited for the survival one the most, I want to see more harsh environments.

I agree with you, and I think it's because it reveals more depth to the game. I think the Survive trailer will also show more depth in the way of upgrades to your suit, multitool, and to ships. The real concern people have with this game is if it will have depth. I think it will have enough depth to keep me engaged till I get to the centre of the galaxy. I can't wait.

I'm so glad Hello Games are releasing these trailers. For me this has been the most interesting one so far - I guess it might mean I'm more inclined towards trade that exploration and fighting. Although I think it's also the best edited trailer of the bunch so far. I can't wait for the Survive trailer, I hope it shows off some of the dangers that lurk hidden in the galaxy.

I'm not sure I'd call them spectacular. The 2015 E3 showing has put the latest trailers to shame, to be honest. It's nice there will be trading, NPCs... but, they could only show one NPC in the trailer? Is this what all NPCs look like in the world?

Go back and look again, so far the graphics have improved, as for npcs, they will all look diffrent based on where they are from, this has already been covered.

Yeah, you obviously want them to show you the whole game before it's released, and tell you all the secrets; but I am sooo glad they are not doing that. You're probably one of those people who want to know the complete plot of a movie before you go and see it at the cinema.

Yeah I believe I read in an article yesterday there are to be different Alien races with their own languages, each owning/residing in different parts of the galaxy. You can interact with these aliens as well, according to the article

Yep this has been known for a while now, you also have to form relationships with them to learn their language to be able to trade, its another great feature that keeps getting forgotten, if this game is terrible i will be the first to hold my hands up but from everything we have seen its going to be everything i ever wanted from a game that lets you explore a universe

No. It's one of 4 races, that was a Korvax. From what I know the individuals in the race are procedurally generated as well. The NPCs are also specialized in the 4 pillars and are not fond of each other, so being friendly with one could make another not really like you or be hostile. Korvax are scientists by the way.

IIRC, there was an NPC shown that was different than this one. It was one of the extended play videos that was shown months ago. That being said, these videos are bite-sized highlights of stuff that we've seen. They are just focusing in on each aspect. So, I'd agree that these don't put the last trailers to shame. More so, they put them in the proper perspective.

These are 4 mini trailers. Do u understand that concept? It's different than a single, epic trailer. Firewatch did the same thing.

For an absolute fact they are showing more features in this trailer than any other previous trailer so I'm not entirely sure exactly what you're talking about.

At the very least give some examples of why you feel this way .

If these new trailers are doing a poor job of showing off the game..... why ? this is why we're here for not for broad vague statements

1. We're here for sharing opinions. No one is required to do more than just that or go into detail that you approve of. To throw off my opinion solely because you want it explained is inane. One could easily see my opinion is that older material was better as selling the game than the current trailers.

2. Combat trailer, it showed quickly changing scenes of shooting the same looking thing at things that didn't show any deaths or gain from the combat. It was just shooting, not really any reason for shooting or result of shooting. Trading trailer, it showed lots of menus with things that don't tell us anything, a single NPC to trade with, and shooting some things to mine. None of these trailers are informative enough to tell a person who doesn't know what's in NMS what is happening. Maybe you like them because you are already informed, but for those who aren't? They are much better off watching old material than this new one.

These trailers are supposed to get people to play the game by informing and exciting them with the possibilities. Instead, IMHO, they've done nothing but show a few instances of the same thing without any explanation (no narration at all) or context.

I believe they could have done a much better job at presenting these trailers, just by extending them, adding narration that explains those elements of the game in more detail, and showing a more linear line of how to collect and trade rather than random shots of doing various things or why you get into combat and how it works.

If you disagree, great. But to only accept it when in detail? Asinine. It's not like I'm attacking the game, I'm saying the advertising leading into it is weaker than what we've already had and I expected better. Simple as that.

Based on this trailer, how do I get an R&D guy to get C4? Did they even talk about Motherbase? Sooooooo do you not seriously get that MOST game trailers are not going to be hour long walkthroughs going over every aspect of the whole game?

I got what No Man Sky was the very first trailer, I got MORE of what it was with each trailer, walk through, showing etc. Buddy, someone can seriously only be SO SLOW as to not get what this title actually is. To the point were if we are going to use this strange, blind ignorance we might as well say this with ALL games.

The marketing they are doing for the game is fine. They are also looking to gauge interest in the game and even stated they had information about the game they were not announcing as to let the player find out on his own. We know more then enough about this game.

If someone doesn't, that is their own fault and their own ignorance. The internet is free.

Has narration, shows the world, shows creatures, shows various weapons in combat, shows story expectations, shows enemies.

MGSV - 5th in the franchise and plays up fan service as the last MGSV game in the trailer.

Otherwise, you gotta just go with the idea that, hey, we're all not going to agree on everything. Doesn't mean anything more than that.

Buddy your own example you just showed of Fallout 4 did not explain the settlements it did not explain the level up system it didn't explain even the companions feature yet you're basically crying about No Man's Sky?

You are doing nothing more than proving the point I just made that you're asking for a walk through , what narration? There is no story in no man's sky for narration to be added in a game about Exploration with zero story component.....

Also Metal Gear Solid 5 has a structure that's drastically different than any of the Metal Gear Solid before it they did not have a trailer that fully detailed mother base in regards to leveling up those are things that we talked about in walkthroughs, not trailers.

You've literally done nothing more than proved my exact point as to why you're unable to even answer why either of those games are not giving you a long-winded walkthrough trailers talking about every single last feature..

Mind you all the games were talking about at some point had some sort of walk through to talk about what was inside of the game no man's Sky Had It many times I press conferences lots of times at IGN, Metal Gear Solid 5 had several walkthroughs, Fallout 4 had an initial walk-through with the creators of the game talking about its features.

My point is that most times they're not leaving such information solely inside of a trailer when they could just say that stuff during at a press event that is a very difficult thing to Market in a trailer for less than 2 minutes.

As to why you're having such a difficult time even finding an example to prove what you're sort of talking about. What you are basically asking for is not even a trailer it's basically a full-on demonstration and you could go over to IGN and YouTube to watch those..

Oh stop being a drama queen! There's enough information out there regarding that whole situation with Genicap, and what their position is regarding the launch of No Man's Sky. The reason you haven't heard about a delay, is because there isn't one. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out.

My personal take on it is that the devs would be under strict instructions from their (or Sony's) legal team, to not issues any statements until Genicap can prove thre has actually been a patent infringment. At the moment Genicap are speculating based on Sean Murrays disclosure to the New Yorker about the use of Superformula. But Sean said the Superformula, although a great improvement, wasn't working as intended and was causing other AI problems. This makes me believe that Sean Murray would have had to modify the formula to whatever degree to make it work appropriately for No Man's Sky.

To put it plainly, Genicap will have to wait until the game is released, they would then have to buy a copy of the game and then hack the source code to see if Sean Murray used the superformula in a way that breaches the patent. Then it's off to the courts for royalties.

By that time though, I would be alot closer to the centre of the galaxy :))

So, you can assume it's not. There's not communication needed unless something changes. Plus, I would suspect that lawyers have probably told them not to speak about that until everything is ironed out. It's a tricky situation, if there is any truth to the issue, because they expose themselves to liability if they release. But, they also look pretty guilty if there is a sudden delay after going gold.

Just preordered it, digitally. Been meaning to for a while now, and right after I do I see this trailer. I hope the survival one is about the same length as this series of trailers has been, as I don't even want to see more of this game, but I'm sure I won't be able to stop myself from watching! I like how these trailers are so short. I *also appreciate how they haven't gone the route of other games by trying to show you each and every little thing there is to it. So looking forward to jumping into this game. Been watching a lot of Star Trek TNG, in anticipation of No Man's Sky.

Well this is refreshing. I came to this comment section expecting to see trolls, ignorance, and a bunch of people who can't imagine playing a game without co-op, hand-holding or a story. I had a feeling that this would be the trailer that started to shift the public's perception on this game. It's nice to not feel like I'm in a very small minority of people that can't wait for this game to come out. I'm sure there will be 20 more "Why No Man's Sky will suck" articles by the end of the day though.

I just noticed that at the 0:54 mark in the trailer, there is a description for a 'Fascination Bead'. The description reads, "Golden metal sphere used to temporarily increase the processing power of 'electronic lifeforms'.

I wonder, what if the game starts you out on a planet with an extremely hostile environment and you just die over and over before you can upgrade/modify your suit? At that point you're just kind of screwed aren't you unless you re start your game on a different planet.
