The RX 480 Killer, NVIDIA GTX 1060 Specifications Leaked

It has been 2 days since AMD launched their new card, the RX 480, but to spoil AMD’s fun NVIDIA has announced their new card, the GTX 1060. AMD faced numerous leaks – most of them true –  and now GTX 1060’s specifications have also been leaked.

Way to go Nvidia. Can't underestimate the power of the green team! The Rx 480 doesn't even support pci e specifications which I find hilarious 😅 😊

freshslicepizza2853d ago

i believe it when i see it for $200.

2853d ago
Errorist762853d ago

@jessionpc

It will probably be 250. The 50 more are more than worth it for better game and driver support!

freshslicepizza2853d ago

@Errorist76
"It will probably be 250. The 50 more are more than worth it for better game and driver support!"

sadly just like the console wars we also have brand warriors in the cpu field. amd driver support has gotten a lot better and i serioulsy doubt we will see a 4gb gtx 1060 for only $50 more and have 20% or more power than the rx 480.

FlameBaitGod2852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

I'm amazed how people defend a company that charged 800+ bucks for a founders card LOL!!!!. They are even worst than apple, imagine the prices if AMD didn't exist. Some people with low IQ these days huh, they don't see the bigger picture.

2852d ago
Tsar4ever012852d ago

That's was I was about to say, Yeah, it's may be faster, but will nVidia charge $200/230 for the GTX-1060?

SonyWarrior2852d ago

why do you think a card that performs 2x that of the rx480 would be priced the same lmao idiot the rx480 compares more to the 2+ year old 970 but even that beats the rx480 lol.........

2852d ago
freshslicepizza2852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

@ShadowKnight

now show us all those reviews for non-crossfire on the rx 480. you seem to be desperately trying to downplay this card when in reality most if not all reviews are raving what great value it brings. and like i said, i will believe it when i see it that nvidia will offer a card for the same price/performance as this. and for only $40 more you can get a 8GB card. what's the cheapest nvidia card with 8gb? lol, yeah nevermind.

the irony is you keep telling everyone you have the powerful gtx 1080, so why do you care about a card that is going after the $200 market? you are acting like a nvidia fanboy.

Nvidia have better graphic cards. Nvidia have better drivers... like it or not, that's the way it is.

dirkdady2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

The specs don't make much sense 4.4 teraflop with 3 or 6gb vram and a boost of 1,700mhz and bandwidth of 192 with those benchmarks?

freshslicepizza2853d ago

that's the way it was. crimson was a huge improvement and for value amd is still king imo.

Ka7be2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

Lol What? better drivers? I have R9 280x and never had a single problem and been using it for almost 4 years.
lately Nvidia drivers are worst and worst.

@ka7be

There have been countless reports for new games having problems with AMD cards...they simply don't work together with game developers so closely.

kneon2853d ago

I don't usually game on my PCs, but I've always had far more problems with Nvidia drivers than AMD. Back in the Vista era Nvidia drivers accounted for a huge percentage of BSOD and so played a major role in the poor perception of Vista.

And why are Nvidia drivers so slow to install? A few months ago I upgraded a machine from an AMD card to an Nvidia card and it took a couple of hours to install. I took that old AMD card and swapped it with an even older Nvidia card in another machine and it was done in 10 minutes. This was the most extreme case I've seen but it always seems to take far longer when installing Nvidia cards.

FlameBaitGod2852d ago

@Ka7be they are just fanboys, the majority of them have probably never even owned an AMD and just repeat what others say.. you know... like... weak minded sheep :D

IaMs122852d ago

People need to stop jumping on the AMD is shit bandwagon and actually look for how it is. Nvidia does have generally more powerful cards but for more money. They both have sucky and awesome driver versions. People need to get Nvidia off the high horse.

hiredhelp2852d ago

your out of date then pal with the drivers. BTW both venders operate well its how the devs optimise there games for what cards some do both but many bought true fact.

Keep in mind that those slides about performance will be some best case scenario (as it always is for these kinds of things). The 480 is a fantastic card, that will make good work of dx12 titles down the road.

Second, the price, as moldybread said. Still, I wouldn't be all that surprised if they come out with a card that is significantly faster for around the $200-$300 range.

Movefasta19932853d ago

I'll be picking this up instead of the 480, and then make the big jump that I want next year.

ninsigma2853d ago

"Finally got my MSI GTX 1080 and I'm in love! I'm running the Witcher 3 in 4K/60fps without problems. I love the double fans on the gpu. Can't wait for Deus ex. This card is so powerful and no need to overclock it atm"

Nice! Good to hear it! Can't wait to get mine eventually, either the 1080 when the price comes down or the 1080 ti. Then I'll have a beast of a rig again xD

ShadowKnight2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

I'll be testing out more games just to see the benchmarks and performance. I can't believe how powerful this GPU is. Tomb Raider can also run in 4K 60fps. TBH its almost at 70fps with the lastest drivers. I have the V-synch turned off. In 1440p TR goes over 100fps. Like a dream come true lol

nitus102853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

Why are you cheering Nvidia when we don't even know the price yet.

From the specs of the GTX 1060 it has 6GB of GDDR5 compared to AMD's RX 480 which comes with 4GB GDDR5 for US$200 and 8GB GDDR5 for US$229. It is possible for the GTX 1060 to meet those prices but we don't really know yet.

I won't deny that even that there are some people who would pay well over $1000 for a powerful graphics card but the average graphics card buyer purchases one between US$100 and US$300 and that is the area where AMD's RX 480 give the best value for the dollar. If the GTX 1060 is within the $100 to $300 mark then it will most likely dominate graphics card sales.

yomfweeee2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

Don't spread false info. It has passed compliance testing. There are cards though that individually are failing the test and AMD is looking into it.

Mithan2852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

Wrong. The PCI-E is fine, driver can fix the. 05 v difference. 960 had same issue.

That being said, 1060 will be great, except in dx12 games.

Shubhendu_Singh2852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

Well RX 480-4GB is going for 370$ in my country.
Lets hope GTX 1060 can match this price.

(for reference, GTX 960 was 270$ here at launch.)
Yeah..I know.

@oogyBoogly India.

OoglyBoogly2852d ago

Where the hell do you live? Afghanistan?

babadivad2852d ago

What are you talking about? The rx 480 a PCIe card. You can't put it in a pci or apg slot.

TheCommentator2852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

Nvidia doesn't have any Aces so they have to run a software-based solution to get Async to function, poorly, compared to an AMD card. FL 12.0 hardware is more important for today's games than FL12.1 hardware is.

JamesBroski2852d ago

Yea, closed-source, gameworks and expensive gpu are really the way to go for gamers /s

dreadz742852d ago

First 1060 is $250 with 3gb of DDR5 and $300 for 6 gb version . Second AMD is fixing the few cards affected with a FW reease on tuesday. https://www.reddit.com/r/Am...

The 1060 has much weaker specs and you guys think the 1060 will stand a chance?...lol

gtx 1060// rx 480

winner rx 480 this gtx 1060 is crap like the 960

babadivad2852d ago

TF comparisons only scale perfectly with cards sharing the same architecture. I'm willing to bet the 1060 will be faster in gaming despite it being slower in theoretical performance. I would get the 480 though personally since AMD cards usually get better with time while NVIDIA cards get worse over time. Especially their mid-tier cards.

hells_supernova2852d ago

What is worse than console fanboys, gpu fanboys. Pic gamers we are all on the same team regardless of your hardware enjoy the competition but don't be a di@khead about it.

ColonelHugh2852d ago

I see some people here and further down the comment section confused about the specs seeming twice that of the RX480. This bargraph can be misleading, because it doesn't start at 0 the way one would expect, but rather it starts at 80% of the performance of the RX480 in order to paint a prettier picture for Nvidia's card.

I'm sure most caught that, but I'm surprised it isn't talked about more.

Angeljuice2852d ago

" Rx 480 doesn't even support pci e specifications which I find hilarious 😅 😊"

It has been certified, there were anomalies with some of the cards.

You can't say "Nvidia cards are all broken" because you fried yours last week.

Damn. AMD is charging into a defeat this time.

Hold_It2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

Lol, it doesn't beat the RX480 8GB. I refuse to believe their benchmarks. Remember, they also told us Arkham Knight was going to be 60FPS + on PC, and have a perfect launch and it was far from it. Remember the 970 GPUs were supposed to be 4GB cards and they were 3.5GB and lower. If you believe it, you're blind.

Edit: Was 970 not 960.

Erik73572852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

" I refuse to believe their benchmarks "

That is butt hurt amd user denial right there lol

OoglyBoogly2852d ago

And what do you call what you're doing? Blindly believing a company that, literally, lies ALL THE FUCKING TIME???

Sounds like you're the one in denial.

Erik73572852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

I've never seen Nvidia lie about fake specs days before launch lol your ridiculous and your the one that's blind just wait

OoglyBoogly2852d ago

Yeah so the graph that "shows" the 1060 being nearly twice as fast when it's actually only like 10% faster is called what exactly? Honesty?

Hold_It2852d ago

Not really. It's more like I research shit before I buy it and I don't believe in PR bullshit. Nvidia is all about PR bullshit. Only one who sounds like butthurt user denial is you, downright pretending Nvidia hasn't lied about a bunch of things surrounding their GFX cards and Gameworks deals.

Erik73572852d ago

@hold it

AMD has given out misleading infographics as well. Im saying they're not lying about the specs in it nor are they lying about the price or lying that it performs better.

jmc88882852d ago (Edited 2852d ago )

970 does have 4GB's, just it's split into two. 3.5 GB's at full bandwidth and 0.5 at a reduced bandwidth. Which was something to get pissed about, but the card still performed very well.

You don't have to believe anything, but it's not hard to beat the RX480.

Remember Nvidia's cards are clocking past 2000mhz, using less power, and it's TFlop ratings, flop compared to flop is stronger than AMD's.

Finally, even though you didn't address it, 3GB's and 6GB's can compete against 4GB's and 8GB's, because of color compression.

I.E., you can fit more in a smaller space. There's a good chance that you can hold more in Nvidia's 3GB's than you can in AMD's 4 GB's, if not it's very, very close.

While AMD did up their color compression, Nvidia now has for two straight generations. For example, it's a definite that if you have a 4GB Kepler, a 3GB Pascal can hold more data.

dreadz742849d ago

Nonsense that Nvidia tFlops are more. Tflop is a Tflop the architecture and gimpworks benefited Nvidia on Dx11. Now Dx11 is ending and Dx12,Vulcan Open gl are posed to take over. Nvidia can't do HW Async Compute and gimpworks wont work for them in new api's. The new Api's are all built around Mantle which AMD created once vega hits Nvidia will be in serious trouble. Vega priced cheaper with more power is Nvidia's worst nightmare.

2852d ago
Vegamyster2852d ago

The 970 had 3.5GB of ram + slower 0.5GB of ram but before anyone knew that it was be praised for its price to performance ratio.
