2016 is the year of VR. The Playstation VR will be released this October with a plethora of software ready for its launch. VR is a technological jump of scale not seen since video games made the jump from 2-D to 3-D, and for that reason it faces what will surely be a difficult climb […]
Recent findings in the latest PSVR2 software update, indicates that PlayStation is already starting to implement support for PC.
The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
Warner Bros. Discovery is closing down Adult Swim Games, delisting its published games. Thus putting Rick and Morty VR in jeopardy.
VR doesn't have to be isolating, there are some amazing social platforms out there. Here are the seven best VR social worlds to explore.
More spreading of BS.It's like diarrhea that won't leave right away after a stomach virus.
**Between what is most definitely a marketing nightmare for Sony, and rumors that PSVR will require the PS4 Neo to run at its full capacity,**
If PSVR didn't run properly on PS4, journalists, developers and gamers would have mentioned it in the past year. Sony would have announced Neo way before PSVR was announced. Best buys would have Neos already to demo PSVR.Sony is not stupid. I think they know how hardware works. The reason why big games haven't been announced yet is because developers aren't fully ready to invest in a platform that is brand new. But it's funny the closer we get to release, the narrative changes to "it doesn't work." Or "this is why Sony is releasing Neo ." what you should be saying is "this is why Microsoft is releasing Scorpio." Because Xbox one and Xbox s can't do VR. Or Microsoft won't even try. So stop spreading lies.
Marketing is easy. They are already showing see through helmet commercials of people and how they are seeing VR. They also use "word of mouth" that sells many products without advertising it. The consumers who believe in a product do it for you. And third, Sony has social media built into EVERY PS4 that other gamers can stream what they think and how it works for them to others that are interested. Costing Sony no money. I can watch a stream on twitch of someone using it too.
The thing that makes it an easy buy for me is all of what it can do. Anything going through the PS4 UI can be viewed through the headset:
Bluray, DVDs, PlayStation Vue,Netflix is given, PlayStation movies, television shows you buy, probably Live with PlayStation, etc. And that's before even mentioning that it will play all that and games on a potentially 200inch virtual screen. And before mentioning it will do supported games in VR. Easily worth the price. And cheaper than Sony's HMZ headsets that lack VR capabilities.
Tack on Sony's VR exclusives and it's a sure bet to sell very well. And if VR does well overall, future VR headsets will get smaller, lighter like glasses and be more powerful. But it's got to start somewhere.
I agree with a lot of what @Apocalypse Shadow says, if the VR didn't work with the PS4, it wouldn't have been demoed with it. I am still trying to wrap my head around why both MS and Sony are pushing out Scorpio and Neo respectively so I won't try to sell a reason for them. But honestly what I could gather from articles and videos, word coming out from E3 is that Sony has VR covered.
