Modern Warfare/Infinite Warfare Problem Solved

I am not paying £60+ for a remaster of MW, despite how good the game was! Look at Infinity Wards history, MW1+2 - absolutely fantastic. Jason West and Vince Zampella were fired pre-MW3, MW3 came out still carrying some of the weight of the previous ones (probably did have some influence from those two) but it didn't hit the spot as well as the previous games. Their next game Ghosts was a complete shambles, granted it was a fresh game to next gen but it was still terrible compared to previous games.

Now we have Infinite Warfare, going by the track record it could bomb even more - it could also be amazing, but I really wouldn't put money on that. They also announce MW remaster but only with the deluxe version of their game, a smart but really slimy move. You know, I wouldn't be that bummed out if they threw it in with every copy, you could at least then pick up a cheap standard copy just for the remaster and it wouldn't seem too unreasonable. But to throw it in with the higher priced copy is just a joke.

I really do hope this actually puts people off buying it, or at the very least pre-ordering. I'm definitely waiting for the reviews to hit with this one.

Rationally speaking it will stop people from buying the next instalment. However there will still be numerous people who buy it, both very young and uncaring, or fully aware and indifferent, or a mixture of the two.

From a business perspective this move makes sense. However it also just reminds everyone that this is the publisher with multiple studios working on a franchise that isn't for the gamer, but simply for the profit. There's no heart in the games anymore, it's all just calculated for the addiction factor. It's important they make money to stay afloat but they've made enough money to be able to take some actual risks, and reward their dedicated fanbase, rather than continue to milk them and throw PR lines at every complaint and concern.

Anyone who goes cold turkey or just gets tired of it, will eventually look back and wonder why they continued to play Cod when arguably the series had seriously lost itself after Black Ops.

I was excited when I heard about Cod4 being remastered, but when I heard that it only had 10 maps and it was locked behind a paywall, I laughed and haven't thought about it since. I have my good memories, I don't need to pay a leech for a few more.

The last game the original IW made was MW2 IIRC. The IW now is no different than Treyarch was back in the days when the real IW was making COD games. Essentially a generic studio using the same foundation created by the original IW and just reusing it over and over and over.

The original IW went on to become Respawn, which develops the Titanfall games.

I think people forget that the IW now is NOT the same IW in the COD4\MW2 times. They were a completely separate studio that just inherited the name.

The original IW were the architects of all that is COD, as all games after MW2 were essentially modeled after it. The original IW were the devs that everybody looked forward to playing their biyearly COD, while treyarch was the generic "filler" COD for the year in between.

The IW now is in the same category as treyarch, just a generic studio reusing the foundation that the original IW made with COD4 and MW2.

The game came out almost 9 years ago for last generation consoles. Some people have never played it online due to the fact that they were only in their childhood. I know there were plenty of kids whose parents didn't care, but there were far more that did.

This is an opportunity for them to play a game they never had access to, but are now mature enough to enjoy it.

Funny thing is If they where available separate but also available as a bundle for the same price as if you bought both separate I would have bought the bundle to help support what is left of Infinity Ward but since its only a bundle I will wait till they offer MW as a stand alone last CoD game I bought was BLOPS 2. Played the others thru redbox and found them mediocre especially the crap that was IW last game Ghost so it looks like I will redbox this one as well to just to play it and see how far IW has fallen in terms of game design.

If you buy the media then after the install you have to put the appropriate disk in before the game will play.

Why is this a problem you have to do this for all games you install on the PS4 or XB1 via the physical media. If you install via digital download you don't need a disk to authenticate.

If you have brought the media then you need to put the disk in the drive so you can install (first time) then play the game. How is this a problem since you do that for all media installs for the PS4 anyway. If you install via digital download then there is no need to put a disk (since you don't have one) in the drive for authentification.

The issue is that this rumor that comes from just random people speculating is that you absolutely need Infinity Warfare to even play the remaster. Meaning if you wanted to Pawn off the game you can't do that if you want to continue playing the remaster

"The trailer looks badass" I'll only agree on that when I'm certain that the space battles shown in the trailer is in the multiplayer and not just in the single player. I have a suspicion that most things shown were from the campaign in which case big whoop, They need to prove to me that this cod is not the same old cod where you run around in a small map in circles killing each other.
But then again there's Battlefield 1 where I know it will have large scale maps with a 64 player count and vehicles, so my problem solved is Battlefield being my holiday shooter fix

Setting Battlefield 1 in a WW1 scenario may not be a good thing since you will have limited weapons and somehow "going over the top" looses it's appeal when you consider that the reality meant that many soldiers were literally cut to pieces by strategically placed machine guns, not to mention artillery shells.

I somehow don't think a bolt action 303 rifle would be a preferred weapon, especially in multiplayer although it was incredibly accurate and powerful but in the later parts of WW1 the small arms machine guns and machine pistols made their appearance.

It might make things interesting having a bolt action rifle, skill comes into play as you have to make sure your shot counts. Of course it might tank by annoying a lot of users.l too. Speaking of tanks it would be interesting to see what is available to the player to combat tanks. There weren't really any anti tank guns those days, pretty much had to climb the tank open the hatch and shoot away. Of course tanks were slow and awkward back then so it was easy to out manoeuvre them

Playing bad company 2 Vietnam had a lot of old weapons , even the vehicles were weaker so that the whole game balanced out , it was one of the best bits of added on content I have got to play (besides undead nightmare) so I think going backwards is the smart move , even now I have better memories of Vietnam than most of the games I've played since

What i don't understand is if you're ok with that model, and willing to pay $80 for both then what do you even have to worry? Let people criticize it if they want. It's not whining it's valid criticism that sometimes necessary to show the publishers that it's not right. Not that they will listen, and we're smart enough to know what. It makes sense from their perspective because they are scared of their own 10 year old game being competition to IW, but that doesn't mean we can't criticize it. I will vote with my wallet AND let them know about it at the same time.

If it happens that IW sells poorly because of the bundling, they will at least understand that they can't get away with everything. If it works then it works.

However, the LAST thing we want to do is give them the impression the it is totally ok! That means they are free to experiment with further bullshit policies. It's not really about affordability, you don't have to be a Warren Buffet to afford an $80 games, it's about the principle really. Yes but this year is a bit different. IW from the makers of Ghosts does not have the pedigree that Treyarch Blops 3 had. And the competition is much greater. Battlefield 1 instead of Battlefront is a big deal. Throw in Titanfall 2 and Gears 4. I have no problem with call of duty, or with them bundling the remaster with the new game. All good. I have a problem (IF TRUE) with them making me keep the IW disc in so that I can play the MW1 remaster. I have Blops 3 and hopefully MW1 remaster to play for my CoD fix. I simply have no interest in IW and would like to get some money back for the game.

The decision sounds odd. If you only make it available to Deluxe edition gamers and say only 40% of people buying the game get the deluxe, you have 60% who can't play.
So will that mean the scenario is that on Day 1, you have loads of hyped and happy Deluxe gamers playing COD4...... Day 12 people are posting negatively that finding a full lobby of players takes nearly 8-10 minutes....... Day 20 and the boards are alive with people ranting how COD4 is dead already and that it takes some of them nearly 30 minutes to find anyone to play with! Do people really want to spend loads more money to get a 10 year old game with a lifespan of 3 weeks before everyone is bored and there are no players, or would they rather that EVERYONE had the opportunity to play it, to keep gamer numbers up and keep the multiplayer running as long as possible.

My gut feeling is that they are going to keep this Deluxe only until they hit the point where gamer numbers are low and people are complaining its a ghost town, and then make the standalone remastered COD4 available for download only for £20, hoping that it will boost multiplayer numbers and rake in additional revenue. It makes no financial sense not to offer it and keep customers happy. Otherwise people are going to feel ripped off buying an old game that is as dead after 3 weeks as the original game is!

Adding MW to Infinite Warfare might've been a desperate attempt seeing that they are almost likely out of ideas for yearly installments. How do you innovate when you're forced to make a game every year?

I still liked Ghosts the most contrary to what others may say. The MP was better balanced (although still having its issues), I liked the perk system, and the contextual lean made the game feel more tactical. I wished they'd make a COD more like Ghosts but maybe have a little bit more powerful killstreaks. Not MW2 killstreak spamfest though, just something more powerful.

You can get cod 4 on the pc/laptop & it can basically run on a potato , you can lean & you have voice commands on multiplayer , it's cheaper on g2a plus zombie mods players verses ai , so many people get rekt.

Ive been playing mw1 on the ps3 recently. It needs more than just a graphical overhaul. It really doesnt handle very well compared to something like bo3, the controls are all loose and it feels a bit basic.
