The Division - Post-Exploits, Gear Score is Now a Serious Issue

Following many exploits to heighten gear score, The Division now has a serious issue with player gear and the balance between the community.

maybelovehate2912d ago

From what I can tell, Gear Score has no effect on your actual power as a player. And there are no events currently that require very high Gear Score levels. The Gear Set Perks do make a huge difference but you can unlock those perks with Gear Collected from the Hard Mode at 214 or from the Dark Zone or Daily Challenge modes if you are lucky.

andibandit2912d ago

Yeah it dosn't seem all that important right now.....until you get steamrolled in the DZ

maybelovehate2912d ago

I don't see how that gear at 240 would have any advantage over 214 gear in the Dark Zone? I have done multiple tests and it doesn't seem to matter as far as DPS or Armor. It is just the perk stats that matter. And you can unlock those perks with 214 gear.

rdgneoz32912d ago

"I don't see how that gear at 240 would have any advantage over 214 gear in the Dark Zone?"

If 1 person had full 214 gear (minus the weapons, as there are no 240 weapons right now) and another had full 240 gear (minus the weapons), the difference is the stats on the gear. The perks might be the same across levels, but you're going to have less health, power, and just plain raw damage compared to the 240 player if you're in 214. The higher the ilvl of your item, the higher it's stats (firearms/stamina/electronics and crit/crit damage/etc) can go.

And if you think 240 had 0 advantage, why not roll out in the DZ in a nice 191 set? Surely you won't get raped...

maybelovehate2912d ago

@rdneoz: Ah, I see you are right. It can have higher percentage stats etc. I didn't realize that. It isn't that much higher but it would be a difference.

As for the 191, I go lower than that often because my Yellows have scavenging haha "not sure it actually works". I am not an aggressive player though so it hasn't been an issue.

dirkdady2911d ago

In reality it's a wash truthfully. I play 3-4 hrs DZ every night and I only rock a sentry 4 piece set and my gears score is around 190s and my primary is 250k DPS and i steamroll everyone.

what does 240 gear have to do with 214 gear? when you enter the dz you arent paired with players on your level...once you reach level 30 the dz gear score brackett is like 0-160...that means a solo gear score 38 might run into a group of 4 gear score 120....this is just the tip of the iceberg...i love the division but ubisoft has a lot to learn and correct before they inevitably release a sequel

rdgneoz32912d ago

If you're level 30 and your gear score is 38, that's sad... You can get full purples from doing General Assembly (and I think 3 HE items since 1.1) and have a gear score of 131+. If you're not actually trying before you step foot it, you deserve the ganking. The real pain is them not separating the people who are gs 210+ (or 200 with the fun way of lowering your gs) from the rest.

fatneal2911d ago

@rdgneoz3 that was an example obviously....my gear score is 154 and iv barely touched the dark zone...the issue i have is finding a decent team to level grind with

dkp232912d ago

It does impact matchmaking. People with 160-170 scores constantly get booted.

whitesoxfalife19762912d ago

yes cuz i boots them myself if you aint rockn at least 190 for incursion.

Here's hoping Ubisoft fixes this game. I've been wanting to play it, but with all of the reports about glitches and other problems, I've been hesitant to jump in.

dkp232912d ago

Since they "fixed" the incursion glitch. It will be difficult to get the 240 gear without actually playing the challenge incursion legit which is pretty difficult. So the gap between players shouldn't widen too much of at all.

It isn't difficult to get 214 fear and under at this point. The only farming place I know now is police academy but it didn't give out great gear.

Only thing that sucks is he crafting is too expensive.

MRoONEPINCHx2912d ago

i didnt think the incursion was that hard. just time consuming. i was GS level 177 with 3 others between 170-190.

crafting is very expensive lol i try and play most nights but with a little 8 month old my usual gaming time has been cut massively. so i cant spend all weekend playing,

hopefully more DZ brackets are added to separate glitches and cheaters at highest GS possible already away from legit players who simply want to play the game how its supposed to be played without being mowed down constantly by rogues with max gear.

with all the problems put aside i honestly have a blast everytime with this game. its not unplayable like people make out but then again its probably alot worse on PC for cheating. me and my friends play on xb1

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno376d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic376d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

Hofstaderman376d ago

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon375d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
