Looks pretty good Cliff, keep up the good work. I see some of the level design got inspiration from the UT games. Looking forward to see more from this.

ShottyatLaw2922d ago

It is looking pretty good. It's also shaping up to be a $30-40 game with all map and character dlc free. That might be enough to get a decent playerbase on Steam.

The preview from pcgamer goes into more detail, especially on the classes, movement, and anti-gravity stuff. Sounds interesting.

Razputin2921d ago

That sounds pretty perfect to me. An decent budget shooter with free DLC, and a $30-40 price tag. I think I can bite. But would need to see more.

With the abundance of crap on Steam, with all the indie, F2P, P2W, and budget games, might be hard to get your foot in the door, considering a lot of people don't know who Cliff is or what he's done in the past.

What I appreciate the most if it is true, is the free map and character DLC. I don't want to have to pay for characters or skins at all.

Fin_The_Human2922d ago

All I see is another generic FPS.

Is this still F2P?

Fin_The_Human2922d ago

Seriously... Good luck to him but I think he should have went into a different genere or atleast not focus on a multiplayer type game that the market is over saturated with.

What happens to this guy...he left Epic because he wanted to do something different and now he is playing g it safe with a generic FPS.

AuraAbjure2921d ago

I heard it wasnt full price. <$50

FlameBaitGod2922d ago

I like how you haven't played it and just because you see a 2 min video you already know what the game is about lol

Godmars2902922d ago (Edited 2922d ago )

"Good luck to him but I think he should have went into a different genere or atleast not focus on a multiplayer type game that the market is over saturated with."

How, given that that's likely the only kind of game he knows how to make.

What has he done besides Unreal and Gears?

freshslicepizza2921d ago

there is a difference between games you only know how to make and games you prefer to make. what has turn 10 and polyphony digital done besides racing games and are they the only games they know how to make?

Godmars2902921d ago

@moldybread:
How are two game companies the same thing as one individual?

Not saying Turn 10 or PD couldn't be making something other what they make, even given the effort they put into them, its just that we're not talking groups of people doing what they are known for. We're talking about one guy who has complained about a certain type of game yet continues to make that type of game.

Hell, David Jaffe is known for GOW and Calling All Cars yet he's making an area shooter. I'm only asked what Blezinski has made besides arena shooters.

freshslicepizza2921d ago (Edited 2921d ago )

he started making point and click games. i imagine he could make any type of game but the question is would it be any good or not? don't even get me started with david jaffe, he's another whiner whose best days are behind him. the difference with him is he feels he has a lifetime duty to remain loyal to sony. not sure why given how his new game would probably fit well on the pc.

OhMyGandhi2921d ago (Edited 2921d ago )

wait a second.
You won't play this game because it's not free-to-play, and you then state that Cliffy's intent on releasing a standalone, full price game is somehow a bad decision because of market saturation? Free to play games are everywhere.

This game looks pretty cool. A bit too slow for my taste, as far as movement goes, but it reminds me of a cross between Bulletstorm and ShadowRun, and it looks to be running pretty smoothly as well.

Now, you are right about having another shooter on the market. But to insist that the F2P isn't as saturated as a console release is silly. Cliffy is damned good at making fun shooters, and his inner passion (the reason he was hired into Epic Games) was his experience with arena shooters and ensuring they stand out from the crowd.

This should be a cakewalk for him.

This looks a lot like Unreal Tournament.

Summons752922d ago

Looks nothing like Unreal Tournament....

Sciurus_vulgaris2922d ago

To me it has an unreal tournament vibe, pacing also looks similar, not that they necessarily play the same.

81BX2922d ago

Not for me but this looks intense.

LawBreakers Being Revived Unofficially, Public Test Happening This Weekend

After six years since servers were killed off, LawBreakers is being revived in an unofficial capacity with playtests happening this weekend.

coolbeans9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Hey, if Gigantic can garner enough attention it can happen for LawBreakers too. Funny thing is that both would share a similar story if going multiplatform:

-Gigantic remained Xbox One/PC until closure
-LawBreakers remained PS4/PC until closure

vTuro249d ago

Oh shit, it's actually happening? This game was pretty dope. Shame the marketing was shit-tier.

Walalon9d ago

Yeah, the marketing side for this game was Uber Trash. But the gameplay was awesome

Lawbreakers was never successful, and therefore not worth reviving. It was hero-shooter [incorrectly labeled as an arena] that failed cash in off the popularity of Overwatch.

Gwiz364d ago

LMAO I guess he really thought it was going to be competition.
This wasn't the only game that failed and claiming to be something entirely different.

Battleborn anyone?.

IamTylerDurden1364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

Battleborn flopped but had more going for it than Lawbreakers. Oh how i had wanted to like BB. It had solid art and characters and a campaign but the gameplay nor story were there.

kryteris364d ago

it having mobile graphics should have targeted that.

Inverno364d ago

I'm still amazed this guy opened a new studio, and then shut it down after their first game flopped. Your excuses didn't matter cause all that people got was their money taken, and a product they could no longer play.
