According to Hadoken.net SNK-Playmore, under the new parent company, has already started working on a new Samurai Shodown Game. The new game, which currently has a target release of 2017, will bring the series back to its root using 2D gameplay. An Anime adaptation is also on the table.
Today SNK announced the release date of the first new character coming to Samurai Shodown as part of the second season pass.
So glad they changed her up for this entry. She was one of the lamest characters in SS 5

Cultured Vultures: With so many available these days, we've put together a list of the best fighting games spanning decades of the genre.
No way MvC3 is better than MvC2. My favorite is a toss up between SC2, Power Stone 2, and MvC2
Streetfighter 2 championship edition is my favourite of all time. Haven’t looked at this list yet so let’s see if it’s on there.
No Fatal Fury Special, or Real Bout Fatal Fury , no King of Fighters 94 or 96, not even that Naomi arcade game Fist of the North Star? And Tekken 3, on consoles, was beat in every way by Tekken 5, if only for the fact that the PS2 disc came with arcade-perfect ports of the first 3 Tekken games. And Soul Calibur II didn't hold a candle to its successor Soul Calibur III. And Killer Instinct w/e doesn't belong on a list of the 30 best fightig games ever, much less so high in the ranking, it is an abomination to watch and listen to, courtesy of its art direction, graphics, framerate, or music. The 1st one would've been debatable, but the Xbox One one?Yuck...
Oh yes :D
Hell yeah. I was just recently thinking about the possibility of a Samurai Showdown reboot. Bring it on.
This was to be the best neo geo game. especially samurai shodown 2. good times
Wont be the same to me unless it - the game - is either pixel animated or uses UE4 like Guilty Gear. And I doubt SNK in its current state wants to flip the bill for such.
Cool, I used to play Samurai Shodown tons, one of my favorite fighting games of all time.
