I cant believe how a company sitting on such a goldmine of franchises can struggle in this way. They have so many legendary franchises yet they are not brave enough to make new games in them. We havent got a major new game from them in years (except for the upcoming SFV and even that was because of Sony's support).

JRPGs are going through a revival. They could have easily made a breakthrough hit BoF6 on consoles. People are clamoring for dinosaurs in games. They could easily hit the jackpot with Dino Crisis. Fans were burnt by DmC. They can easily gain trust and great sales by releasing a proper DMC5. There are many other games as well.

They have so many opportutnities in front of them yet they lack the courage to seize them. They are so afraid of failure that they cant move forward.

bud, I own all 4 for PS2 and recently replayed a few of them, never mind any remaster, I'd rather they make a remake of Onimusha 1 ala Resident Evil remake style lol.

Only because we can get a 1080p 60fps upres of it on PS4 by Capcom with trophies likely not problem, but I'd rather they focus some of that development on a real remake of 1.

I don't even think its a good idea for Capcom businesswise to even do one consider the series low sales, but if they are able to keep the cost down and do a PS4, PC release, they could reach a good return and be ok.

I just don't want them running themselves thin like they did last gen, almost causing them to go out of business.

They sorta need to stay a bit conservative on their development.

@Dark-I don't think it would matter that great a deal if it was Bluepoint or Capcom internally as it doesn't take that much staff to actually port a title with enhancements, I don't see it interfering with Onimusha 5 as they are just completely different processes.

The Daily Star is all kinds of horrible...it's like they want it to be news but it reads as straight satire...I can't decide if they are trying to be CNN or The Onion. As an American I had heard the sentiment that the Star is terrible but never had any experience until I read an article off of this site & saw all of the links to 'news' in the side panel. Oh man, Capcom please do this and don't mess it up! Onimusha 4 kind of lost me, it wasn't horrible but definitely not on the same level as the other 3 (just my opinion, no offense to anyone else). I think really I'd want them to follow something more updated in visuals and controls, but similar to 1 & 2.

I really enjoyed Dawn of Dreams, it definitely had a lot of replayability and content, BUT... like you, I agree, it also did at times lose me. It definitely took a bit of different approach with gameplay with some very light RPG elements with co-op like gameplay thrown in, whereas the older games were more Resident Evil like, but with samurais. Maybe not completely like Resident Evil, but Dawn of Dreams was more forgiving with how you can keep revisiting areas and farm for items and buy items, and a shit ton of weapons and gear to wear. One of the things that kind of killed it for me at times was the character design. With 1-3, they all at least were able to maintain some kind of authenticity with how characters looked, whereas with Dawn of Dreams, it was getting to anime-ish with looks, dialogue, etc.

It's very similar to Resident Evil 4's situation where it's a great/good game, but it departs from some of its older roots with how it's played. I don't even know if they would be willing to make Onimusha 5 with Jubei aka Akane Yagyu with how Dawn of Dreams ended, since Nobunaga's story was finished in 3 and, well, Dawn of Dreams ended Hideyoshi's story.

A team of about 20 can port a title in as little as 6 months.

Bluepoint games did the Uncharted collection for PS4, they also AT THE SAME DAMN TIME worked on Gravity Rush remaster for PS4.

SOooooooo thats about 4 titles by a group of about 30 or so staff...

Maybe you need to really, really look at what the process is.

The team Capcom had for RE6 too YEARS to make it and it was over 600 developers.

Lets look at it again bud, years vs months, 100, 200 and even extremes of 600 staff....vs as little as 12 developers or 20 or as high as 30 developers for ports.

Look up Aspyr. They are one of the best port teams around and are made up of about 13 or so staff, only about 10 of them actually do the ports.

Again....maybe you don't actually really understand the process to even be assuming a small team porting, gets in the way of a years away project that could be done be hundreds of staff.

They also need money to fund Onimusha 5 bud. It would actually be stupid of them to NOT port it while working on Onimusha 5 as its just lost money at this point.

Uncharted Collection didn't hurt Uncharted 4. Different team, different process and likely helped fund part of future projects for Sony.

Again....educate yourself on the process and you'll realize how silly that notion is.

This is one of those instances where I would like remasters over remakes. The special thing about Onimusha 1-3 was the camera angles being just like early Resident Evils. If they were to do straight up remakes you know for sure it would lose those suspenseful camera angles and be more like Onimusha 4 which is by far the worst Onimusha. With that said, I don't want Onimusha 5. It would definitely move way too far away from the roots of Onimusha effectively feeling like a different game that could of had an entirely different name.

They need to stay conservative if they want to stay in business. You might see Sega as hating to make money, but they are merely being smart about their investments.

Last time I checked, it was Capcom last gen that was open to being bought out.

Even as a fan of many of the list you posted, I still get why they are not going YOLO and doing all those titles.

Onimusha and DMC barely even got over 1 million in sales. That isn't something I would be sinking millions into.

They need to think about their likely return and stay a bit conservative if the still want stay in business.

Those games you mentioned didn't do HUGE numbers. If you like Capcom and want to see Capcom still in business....at least respect the choices they are making to continue to stay open. If Sega was to be like Capcom last gen...they would be out of business. Capcom is even lucky to still be in business after the mess they did last gen with just over producing in titles that had no huge history of moving massive units.

We got 6 plus Yakuza games....Sega bought Atlus....they bought Relic....they bought Creative Assembly. Some times taking your foot off the gas is a good idea for longevity.

They have to say focused and not go out over spending on IPs that have no real history of moving massive units. Not saying they shouldn't make them, merely not all at once and clearly with a bit lower budgets in mind. Let the development reflect the units sold. I want those IPs just as badly as you do, but I also still want Capcom in business still.

If they did a new one, and actually put proper effort and a real budget/timeframe into the development, it could be amazing. I don't think them spreading themselves thin is going to help them, they need to focus on 2 platforms ie PS4 XONE, or PC PS4 vs trying to make it on all 3, 4 etc.

They just don't have the money to really risk their whole company to do such a thing.

Sega scaled down a lot last gen and it paid off, they made money, bought Atlus, Relic and Creative Assembly.

Square and Capcom this gen look to be going the Sega route as they can't afford to keep making games on all platforms if those titles on other platforms are not even moving huge numbers.

Consider SFV only being on 2 platforms might be likely due to Capcom scaling down.

Sony nor MS could be "moneyhatting", it legit could just be certain Japanese companies are not going to keep losing money on platforms that don't move software for them.

ie why FFX, KH2.8, and a whole lot of Square games are only coming to PS4, PSVita etc.

No different then why Dead Rising 3 only went to 2 platforms or why Yakuza series is only on PS....

Buddy...some times its not some "moneyhat" some times the publisher just doesn't have the funding to be making a game on 3 or 4 platforms as once.

There is a reason why EA, Ubisoft, Take Two etc are some of the largest 3rd parties in gaming. They can afford to do that, not all publishers can afford to keep doing that bud.

Consider Onimusha only moved like 1 million units or so.

DMC only moved around that much ,even when it was on both PS3 and 360, so to some publishers, maybe making 2 versions or 3 versions is a bit of a waste if they are spending more then they are earning.

I don't think Sony has just been paying off Sega for several generations to never make Yakuza on XB or anything LMFAO! At some point you need to realize that publishers may not make a game on many platforms just do to money and some platforms not being as popular with Japaneses IPs.

FFType Zero HD on PS4 sold 100k...on XONE, it sold less then 1000...

Soooooo maybe they have a good point about not making certain titles on XONE or other platforms that don't move software. Maybe when you really own a real business, you'll get that doing such things isn't free and comes at a risk.

It would be great to see this series come back to life! Loved the originals and with the power of the new consoles the graphics would look fantastic. What they should do is remaster the originals to make money to fund the new one and could also use that as a way of seeing how popular the game still is.
