25 years, wow, that makes me feel old. Still playing HDR regularly and every few months I find myself loading up HF for a few rounds. Sadly there's no online community left on HF anymore, on 360 anyway :( and HDR seems to be getting very quiet now too. I wish they'd release HDR on current gen consoles. I'm sure a lot of people would pick it up with V releasing soon and could get some badly needed heads back online in the lobbies. SFII for life!!!

Am I alone in thinking the original Street Fighter is still the best? A more tense and pure form of 1 on 1 Street Fighter - IMO.

When you say original do you mean Fighting Street which turned into street fighter? Or Street Fighter 2? The original was far from the best. A single DP could half you on one hit. Even worse, it can hit multiple times if you're deep and K.O. The only thing balanced was that both playable characters had the same broken options. (Remember to hold the button and release AFTER the motion!)

Yes, I did mean the original Street Fighter. The way it moved, the way the punches and kicks connected, every fight was on a knife edge. All Street Fighters since are awesome, I just find with each passing incarnation its blending into 'generic fighter'.

I remember we would meet up at 6am at a local Lil Peach to play before school. I have the HD version on both Xbl and PSN.

The year was late 1991. My friend and walked to a 7-11 nearby and that was my first time discovering SF2 arcade. I was blown away by the graphics and all of the unique characters to choose from. Back then no one new all of the special moves, so it was a gradual learning process. We quickly learned that crouch jab jab and throw was considered cheap/cheating too.

After many months of hitting up SF2 almost on daily basis, we decided we were ready to take the public bus to down town and challenge the teens & adults at the huge arcade center. Quarters lined up in queue against the bottom of the screen and patiently waiting my turn. I was surprised how easily i dominated the floor until a better player came along and broke my streak. Ohh those were the days...great arcade memories

The most quarters i ever spent on a video game. The obsession was real. When they ported it to consoles that was like one of the most hyped up releases ever and a huge technical achievments.
