Can Ubisoft Handle The Division’s Launch?

Pixelgate.co.uk writes:

''The Division is to be the next big release, mostly down to the hype train rolling around. It’s not without credit either, a new IP with a pretty ambitious concept is worthy of hype. My main concerns aren’t exactly with the game itself, more with Ubisoft.''

you would think they would be prepared, but we've all been wrong before

PixelGateUk3002d ago

They still need to sort out Siege fully

USMC_POLICE3002d ago

Agreed I am trying to join my friends squad now on Xbox and can't, also there is a slight lag that's annoying

zerocarnage3002d ago

Do you guys realise Ubisoft only publish the game, it's the developers who need to sort the games out. Speaking of developers you lot should realise both the rainbow siege devs and the division devs are completely different.

Don't blame Ubisoft, although publishers tell them what they want, it's the developers who sort the games out.

Ubisoft Massive

Who is "they"? You do know that the team that is making The Division isn't the team that made Rainbow Six Siege right?

Your response to Zero further shows you'd rather try to win some argument by conjecture vs really answer such questions.

Its not the same team, that is like expecting high every Sony published game to be like Uncharted merely because Sony is the publisher...

Are we really so ignorant that we are disregarding they are not the same teams?

Stop saying "Ubisoft" then "they" as if who your talking about is 1 team, your talking about the publisher, the issues is based on the game that another team they own created.

It actually has nothing to do with The Division and several people on this article have pointed that out and it seems you'd rather ignore that.

The publisher is not making the game, they are hiring, contracting or own the team that creates the game.

If they have a team like Montreal which did Rainbow Six Siege, those issues are based on what that team did.

It has nothing to do with Ubisoft Massive, the team that is making The Division, so the issue is nonexistent. Thus how can you use the term "they" on a team that has NOTHING to do with The Division?

Because Sony published Knack, Horizon Zero Dawn will be like Knack? Oh because Take Two did GTAV, Mafia 3 will be just like GTAV, "they" did GTAV thus Take Two will make it like they made GTAV?

Soooooooo you sure you want to go that route with this as its starting to sound like you've assumed Ubisoft is 1 big team vs a publisher with many teams.

Just because Sony makes GT, doesn't mean Driveclub will be like GT, they are different teams under Sony, not 1 huge team.

Just because MS publishes Halo, doesn't mean every game they make will have issues because Halo MCC did....they also create games by OTHER TEAMS! Thus how are you coming to a conclusion of the same issue might happen, yet disregard your not even talking about the same people? I mean...are you serious bud? Yet your response to Zero is 1 word as if it answers what he's asking?

Learn who makes your games. It really might help greatly.

game has been in development for a very long time and been delayed several Times' , and they have Done tons of playtime and testing for the online servers so they better have a smooth launch. IF this is a mess when IT launches then ubisoft have been living under a rock.

xPhearR3dx3002d ago

I think we'll have a better idea on how it's going to go once we find out if that open beta is real. Considering their servers will be hammered, it will be a good opportunity for them to prepare for what will come.

I'm willing to bet like most games there will be some issues day 1, but if they get it sorted out quick and it doesn't take up to a week or longer, than that's perfectly fine IMO.

PixelGateUk3002d ago

i think everyone expects the odd sever issue or two, i just hope it's not the point where the game is struggling a week later

masterfox3002d ago

of course just look their past releases no issues whatsoever........
...............*****UBISOFT STOP HITTING ME! HELP ME I been kidnap by Ubisoft awwwwww don't want to say those things!!

ShadowKing-3002d ago

no there is always launch issues of some sort, but thats just typical games that come out today anyway.

crazychris41243002d ago

What are the chances that they add more areas to the map as free/paid dlc?? Im gonna go with 95% chance

zerocarnage3002d ago

They have said there will be free dlc and paid, they have also backed a no microtransactions, meaning we won't be seeing any shadey business and extra money gains. Even though the division would most likely do well here with micro's considering how preordered have shot through the roof and how many people since alpha and beta have expressed interest in the game..

_-EDMIX-_3002d ago

You mean what are the chances of them seeking to make more money?

Because it would make sense to just have a install base yet not offer more content.

Seriously? Don't ever run a business.

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

shinoff2183382d ago

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

-Foxtrot382d ago

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno382d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic382d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

Hofstaderman382d ago

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon381d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
