Ditch last gen already..and with Wii U I have been experiencing next gen for over three years with first party. Can't wait for NX....

3. Friend notification( important in this social media age in keeping up with what your friends are doing)

4. Windows 10 steaming of up to 1080p and 60fps and you can play games in the comfy of your bed with your Surface Pro or any Windows 10 laptop.

5. Unlimited cloud saves that is also automatic (no need to worry about saves and fumbling around with deciding which other game save data needs to be erase to fit a new save)

6. Backward Compatibility. With over 80 Million X360 owners out there, many of you will still have an abundance of X360 games. With the ability to stream, record and use XB1 features with older x360 games, and able to play online with old X360 consoles, all DLC supported, and all your previous purchased digital titles appearing on your XB1 to download and play, no other consoles BC attempt can comapare.

7. External HDD support. With games reaching 50gig or more in today's games, it is essential that you have a plug and play HDD space option so gamers can upgrade when the times call for it and easily pocket their external HDD and plug it in to their friend's XB1 and continue playing without interruption. A much better solution than opening up an internal HDD panel, replacing it with a bigger HDD (making the old HDD obsolete in the process) and have to redownload all the updates and install all the games again, which might take an eternity.

10. EA Access. For about $3 a month, you get recent titles like Fifa, Madden, Battlefield Hardline, DA Inquisition, and get to play every new EA titles early like the recent Battlefront. Only on XB1 can you have the option to get Access.

11. MS always update their systems like the recent NXE THAT is confirmed to be the best and fastest in the console OS and another huge update will be out in February that will have new exclusive things like Cortana support that other consoles just can't match.

Wit Azure, MS has one of the largest cloud infrastructure in the tech world and games like Halo 5, Gears Ultimate and Forza are already taken advantage of it and the result are night and day compared to P2P where lag can be detrimental to your gaming experience that other console makers are Still using the majority of time.

-yea, only if you are a PSN paid Plus member and you get what, 10gb? On XB1, EVERY account, regardless if you have a Gold account or not, all gets unlimited cloud saves.

So it is a plus and another advantage to XB1. PLUS, THAT will make the 2 free X360 BC announcement every month more exciting. ;)

2. Perhaps you could just watch the movie, and spend some quality time with the family instead of secluding yourself in your bedroom? When my wife wants to watch something on the big screen, I let her, and watch whatever it is with her.

3. 10GB is a lot of space. there's no real risk of running out of space. And like any normal person, you just delete the saved data for the games you're never going to play again. I do agree, though, that it should be available for anyone, regardless of whether they pay for PS+.

I'm not arguing that BC is not worth it - it's a great feature - but it's really going to be a while before that library builds up to something substantial... and again, not every publisher is going to participate (but I honestly don't consider that much of a negative to begin with considering how many games will eventually get added to the list).

I most definitely won't be playing MP in uncharted 4, either - never really played it in the other two uncharted games. the only time I ever put any time into MP is if I really want to get all of the trophies/achievements. besides, your argument was implying sony doesn't have/use dedicated servers.

at any rate, the real answer to the question posed by the article is: get whichever system you feel is going to offer you the most for the money you're paying. again, there is no better or best here, it's entirely personal preference - and septic below had it 100% correct. or better yet, if you can afford it, get all three consoles.

4. This feature is not exclusive to the Xbox One. You can already stream games from PS4 to PC via third party apps. Steam even has an app where you can stream PS4 games to the PC. 9. XBL Gold having the best value is subjective and depends on the person. For example, some people that might be looking to get a PS4 this holiday might still have their PS3's so when they do eventually get a PS4 they will still be getting 4 free games with their subscription and don't care if the PS4 get's 2 backward compatible PS3 games since they can just play them on their PS3. Actually if you wanna get really technical, some people (like myself) that have a PS4, PS3 and a Vita are actually getting 6 games a month while paying for a cheaper subscription service. Like I said, it really depends on the person and it's subjective.

12. Microsoft is not the only one that has access to or owns dedicated servers. Sony has been using dedicated servers on some of their first party titles since last gen. Games like Warhawk, Mag, Socom 4, Gran Turismo 5 & 6 and Resistance had them and this was back when PSN was free. Also, Killzone: Shadow Fall has dedicated servers and GT Sport will most likely have dedicated servers. Xbox fans seem to have this misconception that Microsoft is the only company that has used dedicated servers on their first party games which is not true. Again, dedicated servers are not exclusive to Microsoft

Okay you listed your reasons as to why you think the Xbox One is a better option this holiday so now I'm going to list my reasons as to Why the I think the PS4 is a better option this holiday.

PS4.

1. Cheaper online

2. More first party developer support and more developer support in general

3. Bigger selection and more diverse catalog of games

4. More exclusives

5. Shareplay

6. Better performing and looking multiplats

7. More powerful and it's currently the same price of the Xbox One

8. The DS4 has more features than the X1 controller. It has a lightbar, touchpad, built in speaker and a share button to enhance your gameplay experience.

9. True VR support in the form of PlayStation VR.

10. This last one is more of an opinion. I don't own an Xbox One but I've used the new Xbox One UI several times at my friends house but the PS4's UI is more straightforward than even the new Xbox One UI imo.

Notice how everything I stated is a fact with the exception of #10 which is an opinion of mine.

Now with all that being said, we all have our preferences but you honestly can't go wrong with either console this holiday.. both are looking great heading into next year imo.

-A few Top quality exclusives and are packed with plenty OF SHOVELWARE THAT NO ONE CARES and have NO MAJOR VALID 3rd party contents to enjoy. 

- External hard drive support that only support the old, slower USB 2.0 instead of the lightning fast USB 3.0 standard which is more ideal for games. Also, since physical games can't be install on ext HDD, it is really pointless for such system.

- Backwards compatibility that is light years behind the leading console with plenty OF SHOVELWARE THAT NO ONE CARES, 480p graphics gameplay that looks horrible stretch on 1080p screen, no current gen features like streaming to take advantage of and enhance the experience, and NO third party AAA titles to give a darn about.

- A controller available exclusively to the console and does one thing more than any other competing console in that it has an extra screen. no 250 programming option for 250 different games, no customizable buttons and triggers. Yuppie! S/

- A complete focus on franchises that are milked to the core...unlike other console with new IPS like Recore, Seas of Thieves, Quantum Break, Scalebound, Sunset Overdrive, Ori, New experiences never done before with Cloud Compute like Crackdown 3, yup, I agreed you you there. ;)

Wouldn't bother getting a Wii U considering NX is right around the corner and I'd bet it's gonna be BC with Wii U games. When it comes to Xbox One and PS4 you can't really go wrong at the end of the day, look at the 2016 line-ups that might interest you: Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown 3 and Gears 4 or on the other side Horizon:Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4 and Wild are my personal highlights and both look to have bright futures.

If I didn't already have one, I'd be getting a Wii U for Xenoblade X.
No other RPG this year has excited me quite as much.

If Sony offered a new SKU for the PS4 that played PS3 games natively, and took down the paywall for online multiplayer, I'd also likely trade up to a PS4.

Overall, it's gonna be a great holiday for me, though; getting lost in Mira will burn the next half year of my life, easily.

I own all of them myself. I'd never presume to tell anyone which is better. I bought the Wii U because it's Nintendo, so I'll get some updated versions of timeless classics, and the much-maligned gamepad is actually a revolutionary controller and peripheral that could change things significantly if developers would use their imaginations. I bought a PS4 because JRPGs are one of my favorite genres and there will be tons of them on the system if history is any indication. I bought an Xbox One because I prefer the overall feel of the Xbox ecosystem (controller, achievements, OS, etc.)

I'm sure that if your funds are limited, you've likely already done the research and decided what to get (these consoles aren't exactly brand new at this point). These articles are getting tired. They are only relevant during the first year of a console cycle.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good time with your choice, or choices, depending on your circumstances. Take it from a very long-time gamer: you can't really go wrong no matter what you pick.

for me, the best FPS available on any console can only be played on Xbox. Then there's online multi-player, I'd rather do that on Xbox Live.. It feels like a community on Live, rather than just an interface.

If you're a man with lots of patience, get a PS4 now and wait for games... You'll be part of the best-selling-console club and umm their best games won't be out till next year.. unless you're into the niche things available now, like the japanese stuff.

I don't think you can make a wrong decision; which is what a lot of people in this comment section are implying.

You can't go wrong with either the PS4 or the X1. Except for the Wii U. Just kidding lol. Just don't let anyone on N4G choose for you. Its about what you want.
