Treyarch Permanently Bans Users From Creating Offensive Custom Emblems/Paint Jobs In Black Ops 3

Treyarch Studios is striking down on users who have an offensive emblem design or custom paint jobs and permanently banning them from using this feature ever again.

I actually enjoy griefing the racists. It is quite fun, especially if they are on my team. I follow them around and pop off a round every ten steps so the enemy knows exactly where we're at.

Then, when they die (with me, I don't care) I laugh and give a running commentary of how they died. (eg: "Head shot! Hahahahaha!) They usually rage quit, then I go back to playing.

It's quite fun.

Swastikas or other offensive symbols or quotes shoudln't be tolerated anywhere and there is a difference between what is presented in a game with a context, situational, historical or story related, and what some dumb people decide to put in their emblems.

These bans are great and needed and if penises, swastikas and words like ni**a or fa***t don't offend you, fine, but they don't belong there since those who create these types of emblems want to only offend and hurt and that's not cool, even if you might not feel offended or be the victim they target.

Also, it's their game. They can do and ban whatever they want, but all they do is use some common sense and more people should do that. And you don't have a right to complain anyway since you agreed to their rules by playing the game online anyway and the rules clearly say that offensive and sexual emblems result in a temporary or permanent ban.

Now if you still want to show of penises or embrace racism, go to reddit, facebook, even twitter, or whatever. They don't really give a damn. But you should at least respect that Treyarch monitors their game and tries to build a healthy environment that has its rules. And maybe that's what maturity also means. Respecting and follwoing rules if they are there to prevent others from being offended or hurt by other individuals.

They should never be banned forever, especially with no warning given first. It should be up to the overly sensitive person to ignore it with a built in game option. Maybe require the maker of offensive things to mark it as such to make it easy for people to avoid.

Some people just like to see how far they can stretch the tools given by the devs to make something like that, same reason someone would want to make their logo, or a highly detailed gun image. Again, the game is rated M, if there's nothing offensive about the image, they should have the "freedom" to make whatever emblem they want.

I'm not saying people SHOULD put penises and vaginas on all of their emblems, but that in itself is NOT offensive. Racist and/or terrorist banter is by very definition offensive. But if we use that logic, people shouldn't be allowed to make pokeball images, because it's offensive to Nintendo that people would use their copyrighted image in a game about blowing people up, blood, body chunks, and explosions.

It's a slippery slope to unnecessarily censor content that isn't on it's own, offensive. Clearly, something like "ISIS", or "KKK", or "White people killer" is. Depictions of the human body aren't any less crude than the violence in the game.

Agreed. This is a good way to make both groups of people happy. I don't personally want to use graphic material on my emblem, but I understand the allure of people wanting to make something sex related when the tools can seem so limiting at first. While I'd always advocate for something more creatively inclined, I've seen quite a few that were graphic or sexual related that were actually pretty impressive. Again, there should be a choice for sexual related content, but the content that is created with the very intention of being offensive (sex in of itself is not offensive) shouldn't exist.

They recently got rid of general chats because of the constant abuses and now only have chats moderated by official mods or private chats which people can also be reported. If your emblem showcases terrorist groups like ISIS and such for a laugh or two at tasteless humor then you deserve to be banned.
