With Sony’s recent confirmation that they are working on bringing PlayStation 2 games to PlayStation 4 by utilizing PS2 emulation technology, Sony XDev Europe went on Twitter to ask, “So what PS2 games would you like to see on your PS4?”

There's probably no chance of this ever happening, but I would love to see Killer 7, especially if the game was upscaled to 1080p since the art style would benefit tremendously. It's so niche however that it will likely be forgotten, but it's one of the true gems of that entire console generation and should be preserved in my opinion.

While everyone's suggestions list is Great I feel at the sametime that I would like too keep my memories intact, those games, even with updated graphics will never look and play as good as they did when I played them.

I want the PS4 focus in this gen and VR, that's what I purchased it...put that R&D in introducing more features people want in The coming updates, Make proper remakes of classics IF that's the Case

Even i really wouldn't care about games I've already played on PS2/3 because i would have spent hours on it and i really can't do that. I never repeat the games I've finished. But i don't mind games where i can drop in n play - like NFS, fight games, soccer etc. I really want that ps2 star wars pod racing game. I also want NFS Most Wanted because the reboots feels hollow.

And as for the resources, I'm sure Sony has it covered.

Looking at the lists, i can't even recognise most of the titles. I know only the mainstream games - GOW, NFS, PES, Prince of Persia etc. I have played hack// and Onimusha but man some of the titles listed here are never heard of. But this is the reality. These variety games are what makes a PlayStation.

Ok so just saw the digital foundry analysis and I am really excited

So this emulator would up scale the game to 1080p (not native but still much better than 540) and the frame rates seems to be much more stable at 60 FPS

I can go back and play bunch of ps2 games. Now my only question is are we gonna be able to play disk based games or not

They didnt allow any on PS3 which does have a PS2 emulator with sort of poor compatibility but its locked from standard users. Its only being used for the classics.

I bought a used game for the Xbox 360 to hopefully play on my Xbox one. Also the ps3 did have disc based backward compatibility on the ps3 with the 20gb and 60gb models at launch. The 80gb model later on could play most ps2 games through software emulation. Thanks for the disagree without really reading what I wrote.

I found the controls in Rule of Rose very poor (still completed it 100% though)
But Haunting Ground, that game was a masterpiece that was tragically overlooked. What an amazing game!
I heard they were supposed to be remastering it for PS3 but then everything went quiet.
Would be one of the few games I'd play again given the opportunity.

Because they are probably working on bringing the classics and not allowing emulation of disc based games.

And its a bit crazy to say "they should all run with no trouble" because its just not as simple to emulate complex 3D playstation games all using very different game engines and different (at times unfinished) code.

To this day PCSX2 has reached 95% compatibility. A large amount of that 5% of games simply dont even boot up and no-one knows why.

But I do agree that no matter how large the PS4's PS2 emulators compatibility is, they should allow us to put our own discs in and see how well the games run (if at all). Users reporting in their own compatibility issues could be sort of a large scale beta testing.

Maybe i missed something, but how would this work exactly?

a) You have the PS2 games from the store AND you can use your PS2 DVD
b) You have the games from the store but you can't use your old PS2 dvd
c) There are PS2 games from the store, with extra things (trophies?)
d) Something else =P

Sadly i don't have them anymore, but there are very cheap great PS2 games around, it wouldn't be a problem to get them (i miss FF XII...).

Oh, and for me i would add:
- Soul reaver saga (1 too, if there's ps1 emulation as well)
- Tekken (all of them or at least the PS2 versions)

Emulating whatever I already have on disc would be ideal. Don't wanna have to re-buy games I already bought on ps2 or downloaded to PS3 like Vice City or Manhunt. Hope it's true BC emulation and not just ps2 games being sold on Ps4. Still have my PS3 for that. Trophy support does sound great though.

Hope there's a way to upload old save files. To transfer them like you could to BC PS3s and pick up where I left off. Ps2 games I -downloaded- to a non BC PS3 wouldn't let me. Worked great when I'd toss the disc in though. I beat Killzone 1 by swapping the save between my ps2 and old PS3 on the fly.
