Fans Launch Petition To Convince Street Fighter V’s Developers to Restore Rainbow Mika’s Butt Slap

In the past few days, fans noticed that Capcom made some changes to Rainbow Mika’s animation and to the camera angles of her cutscenes in the latest version of Street Fighter V‘s beta.

This caused a reaction within the fanbase, and a petition has been launched in order to convince Capcom to revert the change.

It was stupid for Capcom to change it in the first place. That's what you call over censorship. They should just change it back.

Furesis3084d ago

there's one logical explanation why they change it and that is the ESRB and/or PEGI rating. They must have gave it a higher age rating for that so they had to censor it a bit

DivineAssault 3084d ago (Edited 3084d ago )

Cammys butt and Juris under boobs were there w no problem.. Theres a lot of teen rated games that are no different.. I doubt the esrb is the reason for this.. Why cut out the split for her super? Zangief isnt censored so they shouldnt mess w anyone else.. Look at lumber jack Ryu.. Females arent complaining about that

Yi-Long3084d ago

I seriously doubt it. It's just a fun cartoony butt-slap. Nothing more. And nothing that should be censored, no matter what rating the game gets.

It's a completely ridiculous discussion anyway: The whole game is about kicking and punching each other into the ground with OTT moves, but 'OH GAWD, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!' when there's a hint of cartoony 'sexiness'!?

Geekman3083d ago

Is it that big of a deal?

Kalebninja3084d ago

I would vote they cover her butt, how about that? Don't see how this game can obtain a T rating with her ass hanging out.

KwietStorm_BLM3084d ago

omg it's a butt! won't someone think of the children!

nevin13084d ago

lol@ K-ninja and K-Storm

Kalebninja3084d ago

Who cares about children smart*** Did I mention kids at all? No, I didn't. I'm pointing out that this isn't something that's normally in a t rated game and if you didn't know Street fighter is a T rated series.

Guardia3084d ago (Edited 3084d ago )

@Kalebninja Rhetorical devices is not one of your strong suits, no?

IAmLee3084d ago

Cammy has her arse out all the time, don't hear you crying about that..

DivineAssault 3084d ago

what about the light blood and cammys ASS that was there since the 90s?

Spotie3084d ago

Because a rear end isn't something explicit that's censored anywhere else. You can show a bare ass in a PG-13 movie( Salma Hayek in Wild Wild West, anyone?).

Besides, PLENTY of other games have shown as much- as well as massive amounts of cleavage- while still retaining a T rating. The BlazBlue franchise features the massive breasts of multiple characters at various levels of exposure, as well as a few rears on display, and always gets a T rating(13+). There are plenty of others, too.

Showing some skin doesn't eliminate a game's ability to obtain a T rating.

Here, maybe this'll help you understand.

http://www.esrb.org/ratings... If you use that little search function on the right and choose to search just for Teen-rated games, it'll show you what earns that rating. At best, R. Mika's outfit would be "Partial Nudity," which is allowable under the T rating.

Actually, Street Fighter 5 is already rated. It's got a T for: Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Violence. So it doesn't seem like any of the skin being shown was even considered. In detail, they say, "Several female characters are depicted in low-cut, form-fitting outfits that display large amounts of cleavage and/or buttocks. Female characters' breasts sometimes jiggle during character selection."

That good enough for you? Or are you so afraid of the female body that you'd rather have her wrapped up in a burlap sack?

ErogeMaster3082d ago

Yeah cause Blazblue has sprites vs actual 3d models.

rainslacker3084d ago

Probably because that's how teens dress? Only adults you see dressed like that are late at night at Wal-Mart...and that's your own fault for going to Wal-Mart late at night.

Other than that, guess you haven't seen any music video in the last 20 years which are predominately aimed at teens. Half of them are more provocative than a butt slap.

DarXyde3083d ago

While I find the butt slap to be overt and perhaps a bit sexualized, I really don't see a point in censoring it. Everyone has a butt. And, as long as you have arms, you can slap said butt. Are they afraid people will start slapping butts? If it's your own butt, does it matter? I don't get the point. It's not like people, kids included, are unaware of their own bodies.

My question is, did Sony plan this as publisher? Like, was this one of their demands? Capcom hasn't really cared much for censorship in the past, so I'm not sure it's a decision on their end. If so, I think it's silly.

I just want to see if people are going to come in here and claim that they aren't buying the game now because of this... lol

sadsatan3084d ago

and who are you to judge those that do?

Kalebninja3084d ago

Because that is an absolute idiotic reason to not buy a game. If that's how someone judges a game then they aren't a gamer they're just an angry pervert.

Chaosdreams3084d ago

@Kalebninja

You are quick to throw a label at someone who does something you don't agree with. If someone is annoyed with what's become of a feature in a game, it can very well make them say, "you know what? as a matter of principle, if you're too scared to show what you originally intended, then I don't plan to support the down graded version."

Be it a butt slap or anything else, everyone has their own check list on what they like and don't like, and what makes or breaks them from purchasing a game, despite how silly it may appear.

Priorities don't remove the status of someone as a gamer. Are they perverted? Who knows, no more than the ones who created it I'd say.

rainslacker3084d ago

@Kaleb

How come about 1 in 10 of your comments is implying people, or a person, is some sort of idiot? Do you not have a better way to express how you feel without coming off as someone who simply overly judgmental?

But, to address your comment, why is it idiotic? Some people are very much against the censorship of games or art for the placation of the vocal minority. It's a ethical stance, grounded from a point that censorship is wrong. You do not know their reasons for holding that viewpoint, so assuming they're idiots is just wrong. They would simply be standing by their beliefs, and to me, that is quite noble even if I don't entirely agree with it. If more people did that, then we wouldn't have a lot of the crap we complain about today like MT or Day one DLC, etc.

81BX3083d ago

Rofl @ chaosdreams.... Calling a butt slap a game feature.

Swiggins3084d ago

Not really, one in a blue moon one might make a difference, but for the most part they're a feel good exercise.

rainslacker3084d ago

I think if you get a million people to sign a petition addressed to the white house, the white house would address it in some way. Remember the white house addressed something about making a death star. Other than that, the kind of petition here rarely does. People would be better off trying to convince the people who are easily offended by this stuff that they are not the only ones who's voices matter.

Street Fighter 5: Analysing a Tarnished Legacy

Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.

Terry_B116d ago

Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.

SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.

SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.

kevco33115d ago

I've had every Street Fighter on launch since SFII on the SNES. SFV is definitely my least played of them all.

SF6 is very good. You should give it a second look.

Terry_B115d ago

Maybe in 2-3 years when there is a version that has characters I care for.

So far there is not one of the new characters I like..and my favourite 4 are not a part of it either. (Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega) + the whole hip hop style and the crappy music turned me totally off.

Looking forward a lot to Tekken 8.

Sano24115d ago

SF4 vanilla was loved by most and and not considered a misstep. It wasn't until they went revision crazy that people started turning on Capcom.

Terry_B115d ago

Don't remember the criticques it got for the big hands and feet, the sometimes weird looking faces, the lame boss (Seth) and that so many characters were shotos and yup..the many new versions. Just every SF got its haters no matter how good it was.

Nerdmaster114d ago

It was criticized for the first trailers having an interesting art style with those ink splashes, but the real game had none of that and people felt cheated. And Capcom decided to add some of those effects in the game later because of the backlash. But I don't remember any other big complaints about it.

EvertonFC115d ago

I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.

CrimsonWing69115d ago

I dunno, I like Street Fighter 5 quite a bit. 🤷‍♂️

Shiro173114d ago

Sf6 is the best sf since sf4ae lol
