Just think about how future Pay Per View events will be sold with VR. When you can have front row seats at the next big UFC event but in the comfort of your house. Same thing for concerts, Football/NBA/Soccer games.... This VR thing is going places, and not just in the realm of video games.

Actually I'm not describing video games, I'm not talking about being able to change the direction of the movie, I'm talking about playing the role of the main character from their perspective. Not effecting the outcome or changing how the movie plays out. Most movies have 1st as well as 3rd person views of the action in those 1st person shots you can in essence be that person.

There is a thing called atmosphere that cannot be faked... but keep imagining.. Most great events people go to have stories of how they got there, who they saw, the feeling of being part of a crowd experience a one off performance..None of that will ever be in VR. But i am sure marketing guys will sell you like it is. Swimming with a shark is not the same as having a vr headset on, your brain knows the water is not cold, the threat is not real, even if you are one of the people who take lsd and believe you can actually fly vr is not the same as being in a real situation. Real situation have a real sense of danger.

haha I love it. its so good to see there is something coming with the potential to make us all giddy again about video games. God knows, I love video games, but I'm a little tired of the same old same old. VR looks to be the promise of achieving so much more than a flat TV can.

Agreed mate. VR is the one thing in a long time that has the potential of a new and exciting experience in gaming and possibly other art forms such as films. I cannot wait for the PS VR and this will be a Day One purchase for me.

I am also glad that Sony is at the forefront on this one. It reminds of another era when Sony was churning out new technologies and goodies such as the cassette Walkman, the mini-disc, SACD, Widescreen TV's. etc. It has been a long time since Sony has been in such a position. I know they pushed Blu-ray with the PS3 but that was a technology that other companies were also involved in. PS VR is all Sony.

I don't think it has anything to do with her being dumb. It's called immersion, with the visor on it tricks the brain into thinking the experience is real. With the headphones she's hearing nothing except what's going on in the demo, with no outside interference the brain in a sense interprets what she's seeing as real.

We are already able to fool ours brain now. Example put a blindfold on and have someone spin you, you lose sense of balance, sense of distance, sense of direction and to a degree a deadening of your other senses.

Its not like what you think it is , like in regularly playing game's in how you are experience them now, notice the lights on the far rear of the headset? That's for head tracking not just for the Ai to know how your facing from the front but from even the rear!

Think of it being able to now allow dynamic Ai in a gyroscope 3D depth centered on the player and tracking body language in that center with the area around the player being also taken in by the Ai account of which position your head is..in:

if your not really looking in the right direction..

Getting back to the main main point, with the lights to the rear of the headset, the 3D depth sense camera of the PlayStation eye knows position from many points from not just facing but distance from, to and area of not just the head but your hands two be that dualshock or playstation move.

With the magnameter inside playstation move added to that along with playstation VR in a sense you as a player ate pretty much a center living gyroscope. Thing lawnmower mans VR set up.

This is why I am more exited about VR than argument reality. VR is just way more amazing. If priced right, PSVR will also be a hit with the casual audience. Surely I am in for day one. This will be awesome.

I can see PSVR being really successful. Just like home consoles, Sony has to cater to their hardcore audience first (No Man's Sky would be a great start). Then PSVR has to have features that branch outside the realm of gaming if you want it to last long.

Here's my story. I'm a bit afraid of heights. When I tried the demo for the new Morpheus hardware at E3 2015 I was playing a game set high in the clouds. (Wish I knew the name.) The demo was held on the second floor of a somewhat rickety custom built stage. I could feel the ground shudder beneath me every time someone walked by. The sensation of height was so realistic, coupled with the shaky demo stage, that I actually had to take off the headset for a moment because the feeling was just too intense!

Let me tell you something about Morpheus. It's VR done right, and on a consumer friendly level.
