Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition launches on 25th November

PS Blog manager writes:
Hi everyone. Today we’re happy to announce that Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition launches on PlayStation 4 from 25th November 2015. If you haven’t yet mustered the courage to venture into Yharnam’s dank, treacherous streets, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved, packaging together From Software’s critically acclaimed action RPG and the incoming DLC story expansion, The Old Hunters.

As detailed last month, The Old Hunters challenges players to explore entirely new environments, including a monolithic clock tower, filled with Bloodborne’s traditional blend of risk, reward and frightening boss encounters.

Great news. I will definitely pick this one down the road.

Double_O_Revan3117d ago

This is a great announcement for me. I've been wanting and wanting to get this game, but my backlog is finally winding down, so this will be perfect. Plus it confess with the DLC. Just want to know the price.

Perjoss3117d ago

You put other games in front of bloodborne?

reminiscent of madman

guitarded773117d ago (Edited 3117d ago )

This tiny part of my soul (no pun intended) wishes I had waited so I could play the full game with the DLC and it all be fresh and new... but then I remember how badass the game was when I got it, and there were really no other games drawing me away from it. This November has Star Wars Battlefront written on it, so I'm glad I bought it at launch. Still, the DLC sounds like it will be a good reason to go back. It just won't have that initial drama like playing Bloodborne for the first time.

dantesparda3117d ago

I wish they had fixed the frame pacing issue in the game. But alas, not enough people complained about it.

dirkdady3117d ago

Bloodborne - still the highest rated first party title of 2015. Can any first party title topple this? Halo 5 might have a chance - but a very long shot considering the last two halo games by 343 industries scored in the 80s on metacritic.

Any bet takers?

XBLSkull3116d ago

I should have waited for this. Has anyone done GotY yet? How do you have Game of the Year edition without an award?

VJGenova3116d ago

@Dante

Plenty of people complained about it, but short of them downgrading the graphics their hands were likely tied. It wasn't nearly as bad as blight town too, so most console gamers probably didn't even notice it.

Looking forward to dark souls 3! I may get this dlc down the line, but I'm not ready for as second playthrough just yet.

VJGenova3116d ago

How is your backlog winding down? Mine keeps growing! It's like a hydra, I cut off one head but 2 more grow!

nitus103116d ago

I have not got a PS4 yet for a variety of reasons, the main one being that I am still playing my backlog of PS3 games.

This is good news for me what with an up and coming price drop, the new 12XX version (less power usage) and of course the 1TB disk which is not only a few dollars more than the 500GB one.

Bloodborne has always been a must buy for me whe I do get a PS4 since I really do like the games by From Software and that is going back to the first King's Field on the PS1. In addition there is the Witcher 3, Dragon Age - Inquisition. as well the 2016 releases of Uncharted, Dark Souls 3. I may even give Dark Souls 2 a go as well since I did not get the PS3 version.

Just those games I have just mentioned and there are are others as well will keep in RPG heaven for pretty much all of 2016.

All this GOTY stuff.....It's = to giving yourself a nickname.

It's kind of cringe-worthy and cheesy.

It's like finishing 14th in the World Cup and calling yourself " Team of the Year" or something.

DarkOcelet3116d ago

I love the GOTY stuff not for the 'name' but because it has all the content the game has to offer for a good price.

Also Bloodborne is one of the best games this year and to so many, it is the game of the year. And also its definitely the PS4 Exclusive Game Of The Year so i think it deserves the title my friend.

ColonelHugh3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

Now I really don't care about the politics of the matter, or whether or not Bloodborne deserves GOTY.

But I KNOW you never would have said that about Halo if it called itself Game of the Year.

KiwiViper853116d ago

I think the point hes making is why "game of the year" why not "ultimate edition" or "complete edition"

We are still in the same year that Bloodborne launched, so there hasn't even been a chance of a qualifying award being handed out.

It does come of a bit over confident.

As for the above Halo comment, If Halo releases a Game of the year edition before the end of the year, you would have a point.

twiggytree123116d ago

You been living under a rock? Multiple GOTY editions have been releasing for YEARS now...

Not to mention there isn't a definitive GOTY awards show, either.

jb2273116d ago

Well I haven't seen a case personally where it can really be disputed. Previous goty editions went to the likes of the Arkham series & Tomb Raider, so it's typically an apt description, also in Bloodborne's case. I suppose they could call them ultimate or complete editions but with all of the collectors versions on the market, more often than not those names are already taken.

Either way your analogy is pretty off considering Bloodborne is the highest rated first party exclusive on the market, so it'd be far from a 14th place loser with that kind of acclaim...I'd venture to guess you won't have a problem with it when Halo 5 drops a goty edition though so it probably doesn't matter anyway.

LMFAO

So not only has ot not won a GOTY award since we haven't got to that point yet, but it's only about 8 months and mow a GOTY edition is releasing?

I am half surprised Sony hasn't announced a Remastered version of this game yet...

Bhuahahaha3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

its like in sport if the person havnt won the championship their fans still called him champ coz they see he gave it all, mind and soul to slug it inside the ring/court they call him peoples champ

.in gaming people enjoy playing it, love it so in their view its goty

StrawberryDiesel4203116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

It's unfortunately all too common to see a big title release bits and pieces of DLC and later announce a GOTY edition(when it's usually not even considered such)with all the DLC included for a lower price than the initial MSRP. Bloodborne is not one of these games. This game actually deserves the GOTY edition and title.

KiwiViper853116d ago

I feel like this game was set to release next year, but sony felt the need to pad out their lacklustre holiday lineup.

showtimefolks3116d ago

with the game catalog of so many games its just better to wait on some games and buy the complete editions within the year.

some other games i could see GOTY editions for

Witcher 3 Q3 2016
Batman
MGS(if it gets an dlc)
for sure fallout 4 but maybe not within the year

Geobros3117d ago

I am curious if North America will announce something similar today.

secretcode3117d ago

I just wonder if it'll release that week physically or not. It's basically retail suicide to release a game a few days before Black Friday, mainly because stock is way harder to anticipate/control that close to Hell Weekend.

...Black Friday IS the Dark Souls of Holidays though...

DragonDDark3117d ago

My Goty. The only game this year so far that didn't bore me for 1 second!

SlightlyRetarted3117d ago

Bloodborne hooked me so bad that i saw dreams of it and few times woke up naturally at 6 a.m. on weekend and the first thing i could think about was "Bloodborne!". No other game has ever done that.

StrawberryDiesel4203116d ago

Demon's Souls had me the same way. However, I personally think Bloodborne exceeded Demon's Souls which I thought was impossible.

KiwiViper853116d ago

Goldeneye007 did that to me.

I woke up at 2am and just had to start playing it, even knowing id play about 2 minutes and then dad would kick my ass back to bed.

It was worth it...

UltraNova3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

Demon's got me too..then some years later after I thought I'd never get absorbed that way again Dark Souls trapped me in its nightmare... fortunately I was prepared to die ;-) (pan intended since I got the Prepare to die edition hehe)

ginsunuva3115d ago

But what about Le Bitcher 3?

Relientk773117d ago

I just bought it 4 days ago

-___-

pyroxxx3117d ago (Edited 3117d ago )

Will probably just buy the DLC,.. though maybe if I get some extra money ,.. might double dip in few months,.. Since Souls and Bloodborne is what I play the most ,.. I have gotten so spoiled by these games,.. I really try to like other stuff,.. but always end up replaying either BB,DES,DKS1 for the n-t time ,..

It is also always kinda fresh,.. since even though the games are quite similar,.. the tiniest systems totally change the pace importance of healing etc..

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno24d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3323d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree23d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga23d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno23d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein25d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw25d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever25d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein25d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.

MeteorPanda25d ago

Bloodborne's Potential Remaster Continues To Be Sony's Biggest Missed Opportunity

"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.

thorstein54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.

Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.

53d ago
-Foxtrot53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

To be fair Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.”

So the ball kind of is in Sonys court, it feels like a missed opportunity because it’s something people really want and Sony just hasn’t really been bothered to get it off the ground. There was rumours it was at one point but it all went silent.

Cacabunga52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Sony has been missing nothing but opportunities for a few years now.. since GOW release, it’s worrying silence we’ve been getting..

As for Bloodborne, imo it would be too soon to release it because PS4 game still looks phenomenal..

Bloodborne REMAKE I think will be PS6 launch title by Bluepoint. I truly hope so! 2 gens later we can get the same wow effect as Demons Souls.

Eonjay52d ago

He is right because it is Sonys IP but a little further back he also explained that they only work on one game at a time. This means that From must also be available. In other words it could already be in the pipeline. Ecen if that is the case, it's still up to Sony to reveal it when they are ready. As ever, I prefer not to hear about it until it's about 3 to 6 months from releasing.

CrashMania53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

'Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software'

Actually Sony owns the IP, same with Demon's Souls. I think they'd prefer if From did the work on any future of both of those though, but if Sony wanted to they could have those off to anyone else to work on them, like the DS remake.

thorstein53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Yeah. Thanks for the info.

But I still think that remasters should wait a generation. And Blue Point did Demon's Souls which was superb.

It can be a huge risk. And I think Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that it would be a PS6 title. I don't he has no say in what happens, it's a partnership.

--Onilink--52d ago

To be honest, if there is a remake/remaster (not that it needs one) I would prefer someone else to handle it, like they did with Demon Souls

From many perspectives From Soft is an amazing developer, BUT, on a technical level they are far from impressive, both in terms of dated visuals (again, on a technical level, not art/design) and usually poor performance.

And what is the point of a remake/remaster if not to provide a visual and performance enhancement to a game that already nailed the rest?

Michiel198952d ago

@thorstein what huge risk? Part of one of the most well known ip's in gaming nowadays, there's not much risk there when it comes to a remake.

thorstein51d ago

@Michiel

I meant remasters in general are a huge risk, not Bloodborne.

Bloodborne isn't, but I think it's going to be on PS6, like how Demon's Souls went from PS3 to PS5.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thorstein,

Wow, your post seems angry..relax it's an opinion.

And btw, it is on Sony, they have the exclusive right to the game, on top of that, they could have easily, at bare minimum, offered an official 60fps patch, with a few extras and charged people $10 to upgrade or $30-40 for new buyers.

I believe I saw an interview where , FromSoft said it was all up to Sony on a sequel and other dealing with the game.

A "hit peice", that serious huh?..relax lol.

thorstein52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Wow you seem angry. I responded to crash 2 days ago about the remaster and who did it.

Why do you care what other people think in a moment about some journalism. Calm down, buddy, it's just my opinion. From 3 days ago.

Edit: I just went back through my comments and found 2 where I call out the author in the past month. Wow, I'm a rageaholic.

It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch

OhReginald52d ago

Sony realizes people will flock to buy ps6s for a bloodborne remake. Easy money.

P_Bomb52d ago

Highly requested, unfortunately neglected.

Some say we didn’t need TLOU2 remake but that was a PS4 game and now we need a BB remake but that was a PS4 game. We send mixed signals
