Loading Human Running at 75fps on PS4 and PSVR

VRFocus reports on the news that Loading Human is running at 75fps on PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR virtual reality support.

DarkOcelet3120d ago

Not bad, still a bit far from 90fps. The visuals will take a hit but if they can be as good as late PS3 titles like TLOU or GTAV then all is good.

@DarkOcelet

It doesn't need to hit 90fps for PSVR, 60fps is enough due to reprojecting the image, that being said 90fps would be ideal.

S2Killinit3120d ago

Wow it looks pretty damn sweet. I want to get into VR already.

Why do we need higher FPS than 60?

RzaDaRazor3120d ago

It causes judder and can make you sick. Ideal is 120fps minimum. PSVR has some sort of interpolator that can double 60fps games to 120fps (similar to 120hz tvs)

morganfell3120d ago

Judder isn't what we have seen causing sickness. And it is sickness for a selected few people.

RzaDaRazor3119d ago

@morganfell - Judder also causes motion sickness in VR along with lag in the motion response.

morganfell3119d ago

Not what we are seeing and we have run multiple tests. It is speed of aspect shift causing the issues we have. And the higher the lag, the slower the aspect shifts can be and still induce nausea. Judder is persistence artifacting and elimination of it (as much as possible) isn't helping reduce nausea in certain titles. Quake VR is infamous for nausea even though its judder can be significantly quashed and that is due to its aspect changes which are more rapid than practically any title currently running in VR.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ3119d ago

Because it's VR and the average human can see around 120fps+ ( I know there is a lot more to it than just frames per second, but that's why i said avg ;)

Ron_Danger3120d ago

That's impossible!!

I've been reading for months even back when it was called Morpheus that that frame rate was impossible with PS4 and PSVR from all the armchair journalists in this site.

I wonder what their next argument to downplay PSVR will be.

On topic: awesome that they're hitting that framerate. Hopefully it won't cause stuttering like what happened with CoD at the launch of PS4. I remember people giving it flack for it's stuttering until it was discovered that the frame rate was up in the 90's at times causing the problems.

Once it comes out they wont have any, but they will still find something to be "skeptical" about while secretly wanting it.

SteamPowered3120d ago

I definitely had my doubts about how they would get up to acceptable framerates. Sounds like the inline rendering box picks up the slack nicely.
VR for PC is very taxing so its easy to follow that line of thinking forward to console VR. Sounds like Sony found a workaround. Good for them. The faster VR hits mainstream the better our experiences will be.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ3119d ago

Trust me, they can do it. Xbox One runs Killer Instinct @ 90fps and that's at 900p, PS4 should be able to run a 1080p game at 75fps+

I can finally play Half Life Alyx.

mariopasta32d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts32d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos32d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts32d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa32d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
