Far Cry 3 was exceptional, so Far Cry 4 being more of the same isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Unfortunately console players had to suffer through a 30fps experience despite the new consoles though which is disappointing.

Both games really shine at 50fps.

I was thinking they had a to find a way to make the franchise go forward because Far cry 4 was just more of the same, not saying the game was bad actually it was far from it but another one would just be repetitive.

This will probably revolve heavily on melee combat which I love, and bows which everybody loves.

Say goodbye to faction battles and say hello to tribal wars which sounds 10x better IMO

I want the ability to join a tribe of my liking whether they are considered bad or good I want it to be my choice. Off course each path would lead to a different story path.

I mean it's not really Far Cry is it. I was looking forward to a larger map with more cool weapons and vehicles, especially air ones to get around (something the series has been lacking lately)

This basically a new IP but like Ubisoft they don't want to risk doing it without a big name attached to it.

Just like Black Flags, could have been a great Pirate RPG if they moulded into that game but made it Assassins Creed.

If it was like a hybrid where it also featured modern things like vehicles/guns and that I could get behind but the setting is just going to be lacklustre

Far Cry was about using your weapons and vehicles to move around the location and picking a style to take down enemies or completing a mission

How can you have any choice when because of the time period it will lack in any good choice in weapons or vehicles.

I always felt Black Flags was limited because of the Assassin Creed themes within the game. Remove these themes and you'd have more room to make a better Pirate game. Something like the cancelled Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned

Anyway concerning my original comment above it's a little dishearting to see more people would agree to the idea of Ubisoft not taking risks and just throw any old idea onto an already established franchise. Don't people want new IPs

It is their job, but when you think about it Far crys gameplay and style is a great foundation for a game like this.

I mean they got animals, bows and survival aspects like self healing, skinning animals to create items etc.

Now I agreed with you about Black Flag because it felt like a whole different beast to past AC games, it could have easily been its own thing with its setting and ship battles.

This isnt the case here, were getting a Far Cry game in a caveman setting which I think is going to work perfectly, because Far Crys gameplay features fit perfectly with this setting unlike ACs with pirates.

Replying for the pirate part. I am not a big fan of AC but blah flag was awesome I wish they took out the stupid trailing and a lot of the tedious assassinations with different combat mechanics could have been the best pirate game ever.

Don't know what you mean, Far Cry is not a continuous series. All The Far Cry's are different from the last, I would say Far Cry 3 and 4 being the closest and even they are pretty far apart.

They are trying something new vs more of the same thing but "bigger".

This is not a new IP, they clearly called it Far Cry for a reason, lets see what is "Far Cry" about it before already making a judgment on it.

Thank you. The Far Cry series is only about one thing - survival at any cost. I'm hoping that Primal ends up like the original with all the animal abilities though. I miss running up on people and punching them 50 feet through the air.

They've all been continuous in style, whether it's their gun play or vehicle using.

They'll probably have the same, find a point, climb it, unlock the area gameplay or even the same way you move, handle things to say it's Far Cry but without the awesome big weapons or cool vehicles to explore the vast lands how can it be.

There are a few other titles in development by other studios with Dinosaurs. Looks like our prehistoric earth dwellers are in for a ressurgence.

If it is a new farcry game it needs to up its game. Farcry 4 was good but was too repetitive and could of done better if it left last gen. They need new killing, skinning, healing animations. Make it harder to upgrade things. Make it more accessible by having players find all items to like make syringes, knifes, etc.

Of course, there was spinoff stuff released between the first and second game that I doubt most people even remember. There was also Blood Dragon in 2013, but that was a fairly small scale (although awesome) standalone expansion. If they're aiming for a two year gap between major releases again though, it makes sense to announce in 2015, and release in 2016.

Look, this series has supplanted any other series from Ubi for quite some time now, a close second being Splinter Cell.
They haven't screwed up ANY of the Far Cry's and I will be buying this one. Sounds radical and I need that in my life right now.
However, I would like an urban Far Cry down the line. Hardline attempted this and failed miserably so Id like to see the masters show them how its done.
