Ubisoft says Ghost Recon Wildlands is 'heavily influenced by the War on Drugs'

Military games often work hard to make sure they have a very grounded sense of reality, no matter how far their fiction may stray away from things happening today. For Ubisoft Paris, it was extremely important for them to learn more about the War on Drugs and understand how that concept should be portrayed in their upcoming open-world game, Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Ubisoft your about to mess up Ghost recon smh

XBLSkull3126d ago

You guys are crazy. GRAW/2 and Future Soldier are what ruined Recon. GRAW multiplayer and coop were fantastic though except for leaving out matchmaking. Future Soldier was pretty awful all around. Wildlands looks to be a game that will redeem the series, it looks fantastic.

Its just a waste of precious time and money....!!!just waste ...lol!!!!

WilliamUsher3126d ago

I don't really think attempting to prevent heroin coming into any first-world country in mass quantities is much of a waste.

Have you seen what heroin does to people?

Harryseveruspotter3126d ago

Listen everyone has their own opinion...!!!!

I don't think fighting the drug problem is a waste, but when I think GR. I think of the master elite black ops squad. The Ghost are used for going into a enemy territory. Completing what ever the mission is all without being detected. A failed mission is one that makes the news. Ghosts are used for all black missions that the public will never known happened.

After all that's why its called Ghost Recon! They used for intel, Kill a main enemy concern or rescue. All without anyone ever known who did it or was even there behind enemy lines. A failed mission for a Ghost is being found out. To the world Ghost don't excites and to be wasted on drug control does seem like a waste and a degrade to the use and training they have. Unless this is their first mission for trainees on their very first mission ever to see if they pass. Then ok. but still a waste.

Have you seen what Meth does to people? And that can be made with house hold items bud.

Let them, if they want to wreck their brains...go for it. We don't need to police slow folks.

In terms of public safety....yet alcoholic is legal? Mind you...THAT is the most widely used drug in the world, NOT crack, heroin, meth etc.

If we are banning and getting rid of things that hurt folks....lets start with that, the go on banning dish soap too WHO WIT ME? lol

voodoochild3463125d ago

If that's the case then the C.I.A should stop ensuring the drugs enter this country in the first place. Anyone remember that C.I.A plane that went down containing kilos of cocaine just before it made it to the US border?

MysticStrummer3125d ago

It's a waste not because the intention isn't good, but because trillions have been spent yet drugs are as easy or easier to get now than they've ever been. Look up an organization called LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition). It was founded by current and former police officers, DEA agents, prison wardens, etc. They say all drugs should be legalized and treated as a health issue instead of a criminal issue. Their main point is that a policy of prohibition never worked with alcohol, people still drank and organized crime thrived, and the same thing is happening now with all these other drugs.

@MysticSummer

You really need to research heroin. It's a mind altering drug.

Do you really think just putting a label on it that says "Warning: Hazardous. Ages 21+" will make it okay?

Also, as someone else mentioned, meth is pretty vile too. Some of these drugs will mess you up for life. Warning labels don't really do them justice and legalizing them is extremely dangerous.

I'm not really sure why people are so intent on wanting to legalize stuff that dangerous.

MysticStrummer3125d ago (Edited 3125d ago )

You really need to research how much good the war on drugs has done.

~~~Spoiler Alert~~~
None
As for what's dangerous… alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine are worse for you and more addictive than some drugs that are currently illegal.
What you're talking about simply doesn't work. It's been proven time and again. Organized crime loves the war on drugs though, so if you're part of the Usher crime syndicate I can see why you'd want it to continue.
Not really just think of the movie sabotage.
We been burned a few times hell i been burned a more then a few times(no internet in the 90's)but this concept can work but if i was writing the story it will be gritty.
Crooked cops/DEA,you can go rogue and work for the cartels,have missions where they try to kill some of the ghosts family members.
A real action and crime game.
The CIA as the main villain then lol
Gamepass has changed everything. Phil, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for Gamepass. I just bought 50 years worth of subscription and I'm so happy.
CBaoth537d ago
Riiight! Thanks to GP I've discovered hundreds of indie fillers I would've never known about otherwise. Best part: team Xbox has discovered how great walking sims and interactive movies really are! And EA Play? Love me some 4 year old sports games!! Why sub up though? Just let MS auto renew that incredible $14.99 a month value. It's so easy!!
Gamepass is just so amazing. Adding EA play to it brought the service to a whole nother level. Phil Spencer has the brightest mind in gaming. By far.....
