It has to be better than Unity right

ValKilmer3123d ago

Even Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is better than Unity.

CitizenFour3123d ago

Agreed, Unity was broken.

This game could potentially save the franchise, but if they have another broken release like Unity, it could also kill it completely.

Because of Unity, I will never pre-order another AC game.

starchild3122d ago

Sheesh, Unity wasn't broken. It seems some people need to learn the meaning of the term. I played Unity just fine from day one, and aside from a handful of minor bugs the game ran and played just fine for me on my PC. I actually enjoyed Unity more than some of the other games in the franchise.

CitizenFour3122d ago (Edited 3122d ago )

Falling through the ground into oblivion forcing a restart, and game freezes that actually force me to hard reboot my console = Broken

not to mention the terrible frame rate.

I left Unity on the shelf and never went back.

If it wasn't broken, Ubi never would have given people a free game

wakeNbake3123d ago

The only thing that will save this franchise is a break.

DragonKnight3123d ago

Nope.

Breaks don't do anything for anything. You yourself can take a break and the next time you come back to it it might be good for you or not but the series stopping will not stop bad ideas from being used when it comes back.

If a series is bad, it's because of the people involved, not because of how often it releases.

freshslicepizza3123d ago

will ubisoft delay the game if there are still bugs and performance issues close to launch? that is the question.

TeamLeaptrade3123d ago

It has the chance to truly pull ahead and actually revitalize the franchise. I believe Black Flag and Rogue held the franchise up, while III & Unity kind of pulled it back a bit, so I'm really hoping Syndicate is what brings us back to the usual good of Assassin's Creed.

Mystogan3122d ago (Edited 3122d ago )

Black Flag and Rogue were not true assassins creed games. They didn't feel like AC at all. Assassins Creed is not about pirates. They were good games but they weren't AC. To me Unity felt more like an Assassins Creed game than Black Flag and Rogue. With AC3 they started deviating.
Unity only missed a good modern day story. Otherwise it would be the best AC game in a while I'd put it right at number 3 with Brotherhood and Revelations being on top respectively. But now id say it takes the 5th spot. People are only seeing the bugs. But this game had everything i always wanted in AC. Decent customization of the Character and freaking co-op missions! And now with Syndicate they're throwing everything out again!

1. AC Revelations.
2. AC Brotherhood.
3. AC 2.
4. AC 1.
5. AC Unity.
6. AC Black Flag/Freedom Cry.
7. AC 3
8. AC Rogue
9. AC Liberation

AudioEppa3123d ago (Edited 3123d ago )

I definitely know at some point I will play this game as its the only assassins creed game that has ever looked interesting.

JohnathanACE3123d ago

The game looks like a cookie-cutter clone of Unity so I don't think it can.

-Foxtrot3123d ago

It's like when AC4 is what AC3 should have been (minus the focus on Pirate/Naval stuff)

So this will be what Unity should have been

Better...of course

But save the franchise...no

godsinhisheaven3123d ago

Having played MGSV I just can't go back to the so called stealth gameplay of the AC franchise.

DragonKnight3123d ago

MGS5's stealth is not impressive.

Crouch the whole game and go into reflex mode if you're caught? Such stealth.

godsinhisheaven3123d ago

Well with that tone of yours one can dismiss any stealth game ever created don't you think ? Objectively speaking MGSV has one of the most refined stealth mechanics ever.

DragonKnight3123d ago

Dude, Tenchu has the best stealth system ever made. MGS' stealth is very overrated. It is not at all impressive. It's basically the same as Skyrim's stealth for goodness sake.

Scatpants3123d ago

I'd say older Splinter Cell games around the time of Chaos Theory had the best stealth. Before Splinter Cell added the mark and execute win button. Also the Spys vs Mercs multiplayer was awesome. Everything now is sped up and dumbed down.

DaBeatSpecialist3123d ago

MGSV and AC are completely different games hate when people make stupid comparisons.

Underrated that's debatable.

chicken_in_the_corn143d ago

One of the most overrated imo. A big step backwards from Unity.

Relientk77143d ago

I loved Syndicate! I played this game mostly as Evie because of her stealth abilities and loved using a cane sword.

Is Assassin's Creed Syndicate worth playing in 2023?

GF365: "Is Assassin's Creed Syndicate worth playing in 2023? Many veteran fans consider this game the last “real” Assassin's Creed game. Did that opinion age well? How does Syndicate compare against the previous game, Unity?"

I would say more maybe when you burned through your backlog.

cbuc1125414d ago

I thought it was great back in the day. Evie was a master at stealth, while Jacob was the fighter. Good 💩!

glennhkboy413d ago

I didn't find them that different in terms of stealth vs power.

cbuc1125412d ago

Well they were. She could go full invisible and blend into the environment at the highest level. Jacob could shoot a gun mid punch while fighting. You needed to build out the skill tree.

Chocoburger413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

It was the last in the series I actually liked, before they went full-blown grindfest. This game had grindy features too, but at least it had some limits.

My biggest issue was that it didn't move the modern story forward which was a let down. Still a fun game, though.

robtion413d ago

Definitely, it is a great game with a really detailed setting.

Unfortunately, you can't play it on PS5 though as it has a major flickering glitch with the lighting/shadows which makes it unplayable.

robtion413d ago

Really? Great, thanks for letting me know. It must have been relatively recent because when I downloaded it to play again on PS5 sometime in the last 12 months it was still really bad.

Good news though, now I can give it another play through. Never did the Jack the Ripper quests previously so want to give them a try.

P_Bomb412d ago

Yeah the patch was most appreciated. That graphic breakup/flicker was awful.

MadLad413d ago

Still consider it the best since Brotherhood.

DarXyde412d ago

Brotherhood was the last one I liked, but in fairness, I checked out after Revelations (which I really struggled to maintain interest in long enough to finish it. I eventually did but I couldn't tell you a thing about it though because I really did it out of necessity to finish something I started).

By that time, fatigue really set in and I simply don't care about it anymore.

I just wish they'd patch Black Flag on consoles to enable 60 fps. Of all the earlier AC titles that was my favourite.

Relientk77421d ago

That's really cool that Ubisoft is finally patching this even though its too late for me. I never thought they were going to patch it, so I beat AC Syndicate on PS4 end of last year. That's one game off my backlog.

anast421d ago

Sweet. This is one of my favorite ACs. I'll fire it up when I get the chance.

Pedrof421d ago

It's cool. It's just a bummer they didn't take the opportunity to also unlock the framerate.

chicken_in_the_corn420d ago

Awesome news. This is the main reason for pushing back my replay.
