Most Disgaea games have stand alone stories. Some of my favorite being Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea 3. I'm so ready Dood.

Disgaea 2 and 4 were my favourites. I still can't get over how much the other games' protagonists pale in comparison to Valvatorez. Definitely the best. Mao might be the worst for obvious reasons lol.

Haha yeah, gotta love Valvatorez and his insane love for Sardines. Disgaea 4 was awesome as well, I would put it in my top 3.

No but you need earplugs for the God awful music.

I played the demo, I don't understand why you would want to put the worst musical track ever created in a videogame, but they have, its offensively bad.

The game seems pretty good (though not entirely my cup of tea).

to my opinion the music is quite great, better than most disgaea and the demo only shows a part of it and not the best either, the only terrible song (as most people say) is the moving on song on the base that can easily be changed on the data shop, otherwise the soundtrack is quite solid with only 3 ost i dont like on the 30 new ones they offer, that is a passing grade.
only thing i dont like sound wise is the english voice over, thus im going to use japanese one exclusively.
in any rate outside of the story mode you decide what song plays at will or you can even use a USB with your own songs.

@Tornado if you can best to try the demo to get your own feel about it, you can even search for the new mechanics and get information answered on gamefaqs board under the game's name

7 or 8 would be more in line, besides 2.0 in sound sucks big time, its a desgrace in modern gaming that companies like Sony don't make a rule of áudio beeing 5.1 at least on PS3 and PS4.

Audiophiles... NIS has always been behind the technological curve. I hope for a hearty graphics upgrade with the next game. Look at that Persona 4 to 5 jump. Not sure if 3D graphics would look good in a JSRPG though...

Yup, I played most of ... if not all ther Tactics PS2 games, they all looked like PS1 games, and Disgaea on PS3 looks like PS2 game, Disgaea 5 could be done on PS3 no problem.

Persona 5 looks very Good, I'm waiting for that one, maybe the first jrpg this gen I like and play to the end.

I really wish I could disable the voice acting in Disgaea. I am a huge fan of SRPGs, but find the characters tragically annoying. Listening to them speak and yell random crap all the time ruins my experience. I uninstalled the demo after 20 minutes.
