Will the Xbox One eat PS4 Sales?

It won't equal ps4 numbers simply because XB1 doesn't sell well enough outside of NA and UK but I expect they'll sell a lot more XB1's this fall than PS4's which will allow them to reduce the gap to a degree. Also, XB1 is releasing exclusives all throughout 2016 instead of just the fall so that should also helm them next year. And by the end of this gen, we'll probably see them neck and neck in NA and UK or MS has a good shot at reclaiming these territories

And even then it's not like the PS4 miraculously stop selling. When the Xbox does good the ps4 is just as good which won't lead to it catching up. The other way is for the ps4 to stop selling well which at the rate is going is doubtful

Never say never. We're less than 2 years in and I expect these consoles will last at least another 3. Home consoles aren't what they used to be for Japan and Microsoft is doing a lot to earn good favor in the US and UK.

Will it happen? I don't know. It's really, really, really, really, very much so unlikely Xbox One will EVER catch PlayStation 4 in sales. Sony already had this generation, it would appear.

Regardless, all I'm saying is.....It's possible, however miniscule the odds.

PS4 may seem that has nt any major exclusives for the rest of 2015... but games like MGS-V (and afterwards FFXV) which are multiplatform, the overwhelming majority of gamers(even in US)are considering them as Playstation titles ..they are atypical exclusives which will boost no matter what PS4 sales..and dont underestimate the popularity and the quality of MGS V as it easily beats any of the big guns of Xone

any xbox one sale theoretically eats into ps4 sales. it is good however that microsoft is shipping big games outside of the holiday window now such as quantum break. their presence at gamescon will hopefully boost sales in europe as well.

what sony could do to counter this holiday onslaught by microsoft is to just have a price drop. but i don't think sony will, they feel way too comfortable and this will allow microsoft to gain some traction.

Possible in the the U.S. but still unlikely. Just too far behind. And this is not a PS3 story. It took 6-7 years for PS3 to close that gap with hardly any advantages at all. More expensive, less public appeal in U.S. and other counties, lower failure rate, "less games" stigma, "inferior" online infrastructure, Not the home of shooting franchises during the initial shooters boom, Advertised horribly until later years yet still managed to outsell 360 week after week month after month works wide. To close a 9 mil gap head start 360 had.
This is a different age, doubt this can happen twice .

We don't know yet. Anything can happen. PS3 caught up last gen. It depends on games. It really does. It will be awhile b/c while Xbone may gain a little this holiday, early next yr is gonna be good for Sony w/ Uncharted 4.

Also, Persona 5 is a dark horse this holiday for Sony if it releases as its supposed to. I know I can't wait. And it's huge everywhere but here.

PS3 caught up last gen not only because of games but because The "Playstation" Brand is more preferred outside of U.S.A, Europe and Asia prefers playstation since PSone came out. The only way the entire world will switch to Xbox is when Sony Stops producing PLaystation consoles. The statement should be, "MS had a chance last gen but still beaten by PS3, how much more with the PS4 sales lead today"?? remember MS had a "1 year headstart" and PS3 is much more expensive. So don't put Sony and MS on the same train. one company is making consoles and videogames since 1995 and the other just started in 2001-2002.

I wouldn't call Quantum Break meh (actually is one of the most exciting games coming in 2016) but its no Uncharted for sure.

As for the xbox catching up to the PS4 I would call that a statistical improbability as things have turned out. Couple that with a ps4 price cut or a slim model then you have a runaway train that doesn't look back.

I don't understand why it's hard to imagine that truthfully the Xbox1 can't eat into the competitors sales, neither can the PS4 eat into the Xbox1 sales simply because they are two different consoles with totally different exclusives. This is the determination as to what ultimately sets any console apart from another, not what multiplat title that's available on all consoles in competition.

This has been the reasoning as to why in past generations a large amount of gamers have chosen to have multiple consoles because there were simply other games that they wanted to play that weren't necessarily on the platform they initially chose to buy. That same mindset will repeat the process once again this generation.

MS is heavily relying on exclusives this fall with Halo leading the pack while Sony is heavily relying on marketing strategy with games like Battlefront and Call of Duty.

I think it will and it will begin with halo 5, TR and the gears remake this year and that is just breakfast we haven't even gotten to dessert yet. Right now the xbox looks more attractive as a true gaming console with tons of variety than any other console at the moment. I am really excited to be an owner of an xbox great times ahead. Xbox has halo but Sony also has marketing rights for Star wars and Black ops 3 and we all know how these marketing deals have done wornder for the sale of Ps4's around the world.

I've been a fan of Sony since the original was announced. I'm not a fan of Sony's hardcore fans that treat the Playstation like a religion and condemn all other platforms and gamers. You can't even hold a conversation with them since they are incapable of backing up their position and simply make personal attacks. I appreciate you know how to look at history. Why not take a look over the past few years where Microsoft was accused of money hatting when they secured marketing rights or exclusives and were considered the bane of gaming. Now that Sony is back in full swing it's "investing" or "securing marketing rights".

Just look at how many Playstation gamers are against free backwards compatibility. Maybe Sony would offer something similar if Sony fans spent less time trying to tear Xbox down and more time asking for features that are actually very nice to have and much more pro-gamer than being charged.

Keep in mind I didn't want Microsoft to reverse the initial proposal. The ability to rip your games without disc based DRM would have been a big step forward for gamers. Remote access to your game library, the ability to loan out digital copies and the ability to still own the game and trade it was a good thing.

Microsoft wasn't able to convey their message properly and many, many people were incredibly ignorant and couldn't understand what they were actually getting. You need only look at what is going on with Windows 10 integration to see what might have been. Remote access to every game we own without a disc in the drive would be very cool.

I have never said Microsoft would overtake Sony. They do not have the worldwide presence in gaming to do it. There is no historical data to even indicate it is possible. Sony has outsold Microsoft on a worldwide basis annually every year.

Do I think Xbox One can overtake PS4 in North America? There is a very good chance that can happen, but it isn't a given. UK is a possible country that can see Xbox One sales overcome PS4 sales too. Outside of these, it's incredibly doubtful.

Playstation fans are the ones obsessed with domination. It's like they have the need to be number one to justify their purchase. I have just as much fun playing on the Wii with my kids as I do on my Xbox or Playstation. I learned long ago console sales don't make a game any more or less fun.

Sir, do u watch the devs interview?? or you simply like to make up your own... Bloodborne was entirely Sony's project . The publisher was Sony computers Entertainment and From Software made it clear it was Sony's idea and they came up to them and asked them to work on it.. So that doesn't make BB a third party game... Now coming back to The Order 1886 was developed by Ready at Dawn and Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.. Again i dont see how its a third party game. RAD did work on PS VITA games... So next time come up with real facts..

Over Call of Duty, Battlefront, and Fallout 4 (all of which will do better on the PS4)? No. And none of what the X1 has for the Fall will help it gain much, overall, traction on the PS4, especially any place outside of the United States, and maybe, the UK. Those two regions, as proven time and again, simply won't be enough.

As I continue to say, Microsoft (and their fanatics - key word) should just be happy with a healthy 2nd place. Remember what things looked like prior to their turnarounds/about faces? Had they launched with all of that stuff, the only thing this machine would have been eating is the entirety of the Xbox brand. Be happy it isn't in said position.

Xbox is seemingly getting the better games, so it should, but it probably won't. The PS4 is like the Iphone, it is not necessarily the best product on the market, but it sells tons because it is a quality product that also benefits from HYPE and marketing. The PS4 really benefited from the PS3's reputation for having highly rated exclusives. I think the only way Microsoft catches the PS4 is if they develop good first party titles and they get some third party developers to release exclusives on Xbox One much like PS3 had.

Yeah when people say Xbox is getting the better games what they mean is Xbox is getting the heavy hitter exclusives like Quantam Break, Gears Ultimate, Gears 4, Halo 5, Scalebound, Rise of Tomb Raider, Forza 6, Crackdown etc.

The only real heavy hitters exclusives PS4 is getting is Horizon and Uncharted 4, Street Fighter V, and The Last Guardian.

Beyond that, you missed quite a few games, from both sides, but particularly for PS4. Why ignore games like Neir 2, Star Ocean 5, and Persona 5? Simply because they'll do better in Japan than anywhere else? It's cherry picking like I've ever seen it. Gears Ultimate is actually a TRUE remaster like The Master Chief Collection, not just an upscaled port like The Nathan Drake Collection and God of War III remastered. The graphics and cutscenes in Gears were completely redone and they also added multiplayer modes along with an extended campaign. They completely removed multiplayer from The NDC. That is why Gears is considered a heavy hitter and those PS3 remasters aren't.

The Uncharted games are also "true" remasters, so there's that. In fact, the exact definition of a Remaster is covered in both The Nathan Drake Collection AND Gears of War: Ultimate. You can try to shape shift the meaning all you want. Changes nothing. The degree of a remaster doesn't alter that it is, indeed, a remaster. It is an increase in sound quality, visual quality, or both.

Nevertheless, it sounds like, outside of strong opinion, you have nothing to combat the facts I've presented to you. Thus, we have nothing left to discuss.
