Gears of War 4 will be more darker and mysterious game

When the Gears of War 4 was revealed during E3 2015 fans noticed that there was not much action in the trailer.

The developer says working on Gears of War Ultimate Edition at the same time as Gears of War 4 has helped the team that had not worked on the previous games to get a feel for what this third iteration needed in order to go in a slightly different direction.

That is exactly what I took from the E3 trailer. I was pumped about the atmosphere, the dark and gritty feel that the Original Gears had. Rod is a smart man and will make a great game here. I have complete faith we won't be disappointed.

ninsigma3180d ago

I really liked the e3 trailer. It had all the hallmarks of a game I'll enjoy. Was surprised afterwards to hear a lot of people were disappointed by it. Maybe I'll feel differently when I go through all the previous ones but right now it's looking great!

JeffGUNZ3180d ago

Yeah I completely agree with you. Have you played the others? The original was much darker, more survival atmosphere. It looks like Rod is taking that concept even further. It did give me that survival feel more then the other two Gears being War like themes.

The effects and graphics were beautiful in my opinion.

spicelicka3180d ago

Same! I couldn't understand the people saying it was too dark, lol its night...

die_fiend3180d ago

'More darker'

Stopped reading there. If you can't write properly, just don't bother!

Spenok3180d ago

My thoughts exactly. Ridiculous.

holysmokesbatman3180d ago

I really want to know where Marcus ties in to Gears 4 (if at all???)
But even if there isn't even a proper 'nod' to the original trilogy I'm uber exited for the next game and more HORDE!

ninsigma3180d ago

I've played the first capaign but I barely remember it but I do know I liked it and I've played a small bit of multiplayer in one of the others. I sold my 360 before the others came out so couldn't really play them. It's a great series that I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into once the free bc versions come round for the ultimate edition.

Atmosphere looks incredible for the new one. I thought it was a better showing than the halo 5 single player tbh.

Will be a* more dark* .

Kalebninja3180d ago

more darker is improper.

Spenok3180d ago

darker is only correct if you take out more from the title. I.E. it would only be correct if it looked one of two ways;

Gears of War 4 will be a darker and mysterious game.

OR

Gears of War 4 will be a more dark and mysterious game.

hello123180d ago

Gears story will appeal to more casual gamers and i think thats a good direction to go.

Online needs to remain the same don't touch or i be coming to Canada to kick ass.

JeffGUNZ3180d ago

I don't think it will be appealing to more casuals, I think it will appeal more to Gear heads like myself. The dark, survival atmosphere is what made Gears (the original installment) so attractive. I think this game will be dark and give us a good scare here and there.

I agree with the MP, they need to make it like the Gears Ultimate edition MP but just make the bullets come out of the gun and not the center screen aim nonsense.

hello123180d ago

With co-op it will. Gears 4 will be more story driven and lot of gamers had complaints about the previous stories.

Gears one was centre screen fire reason it still there for the remake

JeffGUNZ3180d ago

Yeah I know about that center screen aim. I am surprised they didn't fix it though since they added other things not in Gears 1 like spotting, removing snipers active down and what not. They switched it out after gears 1 so a lot of people became so use to barrel aim.

StrayaKNT3180d ago

Can't wait for this game to come out but the wait will be easy with so many great games coming out next year

maybelovehate3180d ago

I am excited, I loved what I saw in the demo. Do we know the timeframe yet of when it takes place?

sweeeeeeeeeeeet
Switch and PS5 owners are gonna love this.

Stuart575695d ago

Every article, console fanboy trite, all these years later. Let me explain it AGAIN, in simple terms for the fanboys. Sentient human gamers do have their preferred platform, however they will buy and own multiple platforms so they can enjoy the games they want to enjoy. I own and have owned multiple platforms, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and now Valve, simply to enjoy a wide range of games across a broad spectrum of platforms. It's great. You don't have to pick a 'team' and cheer them on through thick and thin, dissing the other 'team'. And for you 'VenomUK' to state 'Switch and PS5 owners are gonna love this', proves that you're a bit behind. Learn, enjoy, live, develop, trust and coexist if you can, life is better that way.

Blad3runner0095d ago

@Stuart5756
Well said.
This is why i never understand fanboying over hardware. This is not like a sports team, its just hardware. Why some people have this mentality to pick a side and stick with it and refuse to look at other platforms, therefore depriving themselves of games that are only available on those platforms. They are suppose to be gamers after all?

FinalFantasyFanatic95d ago

It's practically guaranteed to come to PC as well, if that's the case, I might pick it up after it gets a discount or two.

TheEroica95d ago (Edited 95d ago )

Thank goodness for pro gamer companies like Microsoft.... It's about time we unified platforms where now only corporate suits benefit! Pro gamers all the way. Thanks Microsoft!

RaidenBlack95d ago

Yup ... bring Gears 2, 3 Judgement as well as Fable II and Halo 5 to PC

phoenixwing95d ago

Online portions would be a bonus.

FinalFantasyFanatic95d ago

I'm really shocked that Halo 5 still isn't on PC yet, almost everything is ported over and that's the only Halo game that hasn't been ported.

Profchaos95d ago

Take it with a grain of salt this leaker has been wrong many Times

The connection has been rumoured in the past so there's some credibility but it's more if it's actually in testing or not

Father__Merrin95d ago

tell u what gears 3 on series x same 360 game but in 4k and 60fps is a dream it looks crystal clear

Sciurus_vulgaris95d ago

The Series X enhanced versions of Gears 3 and Judgement can at times look like Xbox One titles.

Concertoine95d ago

Yeah i got into Gears 3 multiplayer last year. People still play it a lot. Tons of maps and looks great with the 60 FPS.

Brazz95d ago

It would be funny to see Gears of War collection on Nintendo Switch.

I'll Be Happy With Anything Gears of War, But Nothing Beats A 1-3 Remaster

Huzaifah from eXputer "With a new Gears of War game possible, I'll go ahead and say that the original trilogy was the peak of the series and should get remastered."

Wyesvin100d ago

I wish they would put 2 and 3 on pc

RaidenBlack99d ago

^ this
and judgement as well
Why not Remaster them and release them as Marcus Fenix Collection for PC and Series

phoenixwing99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

I would buy it. I sh1t on microsoft alot but their gears of War series I loved. Some great gameplay and if they would keep up the multiplayer I'd play that too.

CrimsonWing69100d ago

1-3 are incredible with each one being bigger and better than the last. I don’t know what it is, but 4 was super underwhelming to me and 5 was slightly better than 4, but I didn’t feel the same epic feeling I had when going through 1-3. I hope 6 brings that epicness back, but yea like a full remake of 1-3 with current-gen visuals would be *chef’s kiss*.

ocelot07100d ago

I was actually devastated with Gears 1 Remaster on Xbox and PC. From when the OG released in 2006 right up until Gears 2 released a few years later. Me and a small group of friends would play it almost daily.

When the remaster arrived. It was annoying that they changed the way you could find a create games. The PC version was dead on arrival as it didn't release on steam just the crappy windows store so about 7 people (including me) bought it. I think I managed to find about 5 games in the first week of release. After that it was just a ghost town.

Not sure about Xbox version. Didn't actually try it until I got a series s in late 2022. It was completely dead online.

chicken_in_the_corn100d ago

A new game would be best. I don't understand why gamers want to rebuy old games over something new.

Juiceid100d ago

It an excuse to revisit something you loved a long time, and it’s prettier and shinier!

raWfodog99d ago

Yeah, new game is always better in my book but remake/remaster is definitely a good runner-up.

franwex99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

Agreed. The old games are there anyway.

I went back and played them all again in anticipation of Gears 5 with a friend and they hold up really well. In fact, they were more fun than the recent ones in some ways.

neutralgamer1992100d ago

we need all gears of war games on steam please
